Definitions

  • the invention relates to a method for the automatic cutting of material webs on which individual images are present.
  • the invention relates to a cutting device for cutting such webs of material, which has at least one motor-driven cutting device.
  • Printed and / or exposed paper webs of different widths are to be subsumed here in particular under material webs with images thereon. Such paper webs often have images distributed arbitrarily both in web width and in web length. The images were previously printed on the roll material or, if the paper web is photo paper, exposed. In general, however, any material that can be cut can be processed using the method according to the invention. For example, a plastic film in roll form can also be cut with it.
  • US Pat. No. 4,784,318 A describes a method and a device for cutting different rectangular formats from a paper or film web.
  • the device is equipped with a control device and a sensor.
  • the sensor is arranged or designed so that codes that are applied to the edge of the paper web can be read out. Due to the coding applied by the plotter to the edge of the paper or film webs, different parts corresponding to the DIN standard formats can be cut out automatically and in the correct size.
  • the device has a cross cutter and several across the width of the paper web or across the direction of transport the transport device arranged slitting units.
  • the cross cutter extends over the entire width of the paper web and consists of a cross cutting knife attached to a knife shaft and a rigidly held counter knife.
  • the slitting units are locked on a cross rail at such mutual distances that standard DIN formats can be cut out.
  • the slitting knives are set to a position cutting the paper web according to the data read by the sensor, as required.
  • This setting of the longitudinal cutting knife or the longitudinal cutting units is carried out by lowering a pivotally mounted upper circular knife against a lower circular knife mounted on a fixed axis.
  • the position of the longitudinal cutting units can be changed as desired by manual displacement before performing cutting operations along the cross rail and is then to be locked in the desired position. Then paper webs can be cut.
  • the longitudinal cutting units thus have a fixed position transversely to the paper web or to its transport direction, at least during the cutting of a material or paper web.
  • US Pat. No. 5,074,178 A describes a device and a method for cutting out — in particular technical — drawings from paper webs, such as are output by graphic plotters.
  • the device is equipped with a cutting knife for making a cross section and a pair of longitudinal cutting knives for making longitudinal cuts parallel to the transport direction of the transport device.
  • photocells it is possible to detect the side edges of a drawing or their position on the continuous material web.
  • the control device stops the transport device in such a way that the side edge can be trimmed accordingly.
  • Such a cutting device is thus limited in its application to drawings in which a rectangular edge is present and can be detected by photocells.
  • No. 5,777,879 A discloses a control device for a processing plant, in particular a cutting device for elongated material webs. It is provided that the material web is subdivided into sections of the same length, the sections each being identified by a marking. Such a situation is, for example, when cutting blanks for license plates from one Given sheet metal tape.
  • the control device On the basis of the position of the markings on the material web detected by a sensor, the control device outputs a signal corresponding to a corrected value for the feed length of the material web, whereby the positional accuracy of the sections of the material web with respect to the markings can be kept within a predetermined tolerance .
  • a detector or sensor is provided which, as soon as a marking is recognized on the material web moving forward, outputs a read signal to the control device.
  • sensors can be used for the most varied types of detectable features. Accordingly, possible features are parts of graphic representations on the material web, bores or depressions in the material web, changes in the reflectivity from the light on the surface, etc.
  • the sensor or detector can also be a system for pattern recognition.
  • No. 5,586,479 A describes a cutting device for a plurality of images which are applied to a single sheet receiving the images. It is provided that there are a plurality of rectangular images of the same size on the sheet.
  • This cutting device solves the task of cutting properly aligned images from the sheet, even if the images are aligned obliquely to the edges of the sheet.
  • the cutting device has a first cutting knife and a sensor for detecting an edge or its inclination of an image on the sheet.
  • a device is provided with which this first cutting knife can be aligned parallel to the edge of the image. This first cutting knife is rotatably arranged for this purpose.
  • the sheet carrying the images is guided to the first cutting knife by a transport device and the front edge of the image or images is detected by sensors arranged in the region of the first cutting knife. Two sensors consisting of a light-emitting diode (LED) and a pair of photodiodes are arranged. After the sheet carrying the images has been cut with the first cutting knife, the strips of images obtained in this way are cut by a second cutting knife arranged subsequently at a right angle to the first-mentioned image edge.
  • LED light-emitting diode
  • US Pat. No. 5,541,359 A discloses a device for packaging embossed cards, such as credit cards, in the forms for receiving them for subsequent mailing. It is provided that the forms are stirred into the apparatus in an interconnected form to form an endless web of material. Through a printer In addition to the recipient's name and address, barcode-encoded account information for the relevant credit card, such as account number and name, is also printed on the forms. To separate the interconnected forms, the packaging device has a cutting device which is additionally equipped with a sensor for reading the bar codes applied to the forms. By reading the barcodes with the sensor, it is possible to compare the account information of the credit cards and the forms intended for packaging or shipping, thereby preventing incorrect assignments.
  • the device has a device for applying images to an elongated paper web, a cutting unit for cutting the images in accordance with format sizes transmitted by the CAD system, and storage compartments in which the differently sized sheets of the images are stacked in accordance with their formats.
  • the cutting unit has a Y-cutting knife with which cuts can be made transversely to the longitudinal extent of the paper web and several X-cutting knives which are positioned across the transverse direction according to the possible sizes or widths.
  • the X-cutting knives intended for cutting images or pieces of paper of different widths each consist of a pair of rotating cutting disks which can be brought into engagement with one another.
  • the device also has a transport device through which the paper web is moved further in the direction of its longitudinal extent. Cuts across the paper web are accordingly carried out with the Y-cutting knife while the transport device is at a standstill or when the paper web is held fast. Cuts in the direction of the longitudinal extent of the paper web are carried out with the fixed X-cutting knives, the paper web being moved further by the transport device.
  • the cutting with the horizontal cutting knife or Y cutting knife and the longitudinal cutting knife or X cutting knife is carried out by a cutting device control unit on the basis of size information or size signals which are transmitted by the plotter control unit.
  • US 5,099,734 A discloses a device for changing the slot width of a device for cutting wide fabrics or material webs.
  • the Cutting devices are used to move webs of fabric or material in the longitudinal direction by a transport device, while they are cut into narrow, elongated strips by rotating cutting knives. These cutting knives make cuts that are aligned parallel to the longitudinal extent of the material web.
  • the position of the cutting knives relative to the transverse direction of the material web can be changed by the adjusting device described, in that they are moved along a shaft oriented transversely to the material web or transversely to the transport direction.
  • the object is achieved to create an adjusting device with which the cutting knife or the cutting knife holder can be held on the shaft in the desired position with a sufficient or suitable holding force.
  • the adjusting device has a cutting knife displacement mechanism by which the cutting knife holder is first opened in order to then move it along the shaft into the desired position corresponding to the slot width and then to fix it again on the shaft.
  • the cutting device or the adjusting device has a control device for its operation.
  • a cutting device with a plurality of motor-driven cutting knives has hitherto been used for cutting out the images of any width and height on such a material web.
  • the transport of the roll material or the material web is carried out by transport rollers which are driven in a controllable manner in the cutting device.
  • a cutting knife that can be moved perpendicular to the transport direction of the paper web is used when the transport rollers are stationary for making a cut perpendicular to the paper web.
  • cuts can be made during the transport process of the paper web by means of the transport rollers parallel to the transport direction of the paper web or parallel to the paper web orientation.
  • the technical problem on which the invention is based is to provide a method and a device for cutting material webs with images thereon, with which the cutting out of the individual images or groups of images can be carried out more efficiently.
  • the method according to the invention is characterized in that data previously applied to the material web with respect to the images or groups of images present on the material web are read mechanically, then at least one cutting device for cutting the material web is set on the basis of the machine-read data, and finally the Material web is cut with the set cutting device.
  • a cutting device has at least one motor-driven cutting device.
  • a data reading device for reading the data present on the material web with respect to the images present on the material web.
  • a control unit is provided which stores the data read by the data reading device evaluates and converts them into control commands for the motor-driven cutting device and adjusts the cutting device accordingly.
  • a device for further transporting the material web is advantageously also controlled by the control unit. This enables a variety of cuts to be made lengthways and across the material web.
  • the invention is based on the idea of applying the data relating to these images or groups of images that are already available when the images are applied to the material web in a machine-readable manner, so that the image or image group data can be read out by the cutting device connected downstream of the exposure device, for example, and accordingly one automatic processing of the images or groups of images can be carried out. This makes it much easier to cut out the pictures or groups of pictures.
  • the invention makes it possible for the first time to cut the images of different sizes and arranged arbitrarily across the width of the material web before or after a possible lamination.
  • the machine-readable data advantageously include information about the number and size and the position of the images relative to a reference point, such as the longitudinal edge of the web.
  • the image data are already applied to the material web when the images are applied in their vicinity.
  • the image data can be applied to the material web at the same time, so that no separate devices are necessary for applying the image data.
  • the image data viewed in the direction of transport of the material web
  • the image data are applied in front of the individual images or groups of images to which they are assigned. It is thus possible to set the cutting devices in accordance with the data read out in a cutting device of the type according to the invention before the individual images or groups of images arrive below the cutting devices.
  • the image data or data records it is of course not absolutely necessary for the image data or data records to be present in the immediate vicinity or image groups, they would only have to be in the transport direction of the Seen material web, in front of the images readable and assignable by the data reading device.
  • FIGS. 1 and 2 The essential structure of a cutting device according to the invention can be seen from the views according to FIGS. 1 and 2.
