Abstract

The invention concerns a filter material which is suitable in particular for producing cigarette filters. The material is characterized in that molten softened cellulose acetate is applied by the melt blown technique to a strip of prefabricated filter paper.

Description

The invention relates to a cigarette filter according to claim 1 and a method according to Claim 17.

For conceptual reasons, cigarette filters are becoming increasingly popular Cellulose filter used. Especially for the construction of Paper likes to be light and ultra-light cigarettes because of the very good retention properties. A great disadvantage but consists in the change of taste through a paper filter compared to a commonly used cellulose acetate filter. Paper filters are therefore not suitable as monofilters but only as a so-called Double, dual or multiple filters in Connection with other filter material. The production of multiple filters however, is extremely complicated and very expensive.

The so made Filter material is processed into filter rods and on the Cut the usual cigarette filter lengths. The filter material looks so that on the carrier layer, one Tangled fiber fleece, cellulose acetate as more or less homogeneous, dense layer resembles a layer of paint.

It is an object of the invention to provide a filter material and a method for the production of a filter material for a cigarette filter to create the benefits of cellulose acetate and United paper.

17. The features of the claims serve to solve these tasks 1 or 17.

According to the invention, cellulose acetate is thus applied to a paper web in the melt-blown process. This combines the good retention properties of cellulose with the selective retention properties of cellulose acetate. This material, manufactured as a monofilter, surprisingly shows the same retention and taste properties as conventional multiple filters with the same total retention. The production of this novel filter material can in the melt-blown process by using smooth or pre-creped paper webs, which are multilayer, preferably single-layer, in a weight range of 8 to 50 g / m 2 , preferably 15 to 30 g / m 2 take place that the inflated, melted cellulose acetate has a degree of acetylation of 1 to 3, preferably 1.7 to 2.6. This cellulose acetate is preferably a cellulose acetate plasticized with triacetin, the triacetin softening the wall of the cellulose acetate fibers so that they stick together at their crossing or contact points.

Depending on the proportions of paper to cellulose acetate it may be advantageous to use a binder. This binder can be a hot melt adhesive or e.g. a modified extrudable and meltable starch. Latter is particularly recommended from an ecological point of view. In each Case must be ensured that the processing temperature of the binder, the nature of the subsequently applied Cellulose fibers are not affected.
