Description

The invention relates to a method for increasing the performance of weft insertion into a shed of an air jet loom and insertion nozzle for carrying out the method.

It is generally known that when the weft is inserted by means of an air jet, the tensile force is transferred to the weft within the mixing tube of the entry nozzle. In order to influence the flow properties and thus also the transmission of tensile force to the weft thread, the air flow supplied to the entry nozzle under a certain pressure is accelerated by changing the cross section of the air supply channel in the direction of the weft entry. The accelerated air flow then reaches an internal cross section of a mixing tube which is enlarged compared to the acceleration range, expands therein and takes the weft thread with it for entry into the shed. At the stage of the transition of the air flow there is a sudden expansion of the air flow. This sudden expansion causes flow turbulence, from the exit of the air supply duct to the entrance area of the mixing tube, which has a negative effect on the structure of the weft thread and on its entrainment behavior, i.e. on the tensile force transmission and thus on the weft flight time over the weaving width.

An entry nozzle for an air weaving machine with adjustable air flow acceleration is previously known from EP 0 239 137 B1.

This entry nozzle essentially consists of a nozzle housing with an axially displaceable or fixedly arranged thread supply tube, an air supply channel for the nozzle medium which is concentrically enclosed by the nozzle housing, and a mixing tube which is in the extension of the thread supply tube and optionally axially displaceable or fixed in the housing is arranged, and wherein the air supply channel ends between the end of the thread supply tube and the mixing tube.

Here, too, the accelerated air flow emerging from the air supply duct expands abruptly and leads to flow turbulence at the outlet of the air supply duct, which continues into the inlet of the mixing tube. These flow turbulences adversely affect the structure of the weft thread and its transport behavior.

The object of the invention is therefore to provide a method for gentle entrainment of the weft thread and at the same time for increasing the performance of the entry nozzle of a weaving machine. It is also an object of the invention to provide an entry nozzle for carrying out the method.

The object is achieved. solved by the characterizing features of claims 1 and 4.

With the invention. Shifting the beginning of the expansion of the air flow and with the invention. Formation of the weft feed tube prevents the abrupt expansion of the air flow during the transition into the mixing tube. This improves the performance of known entry or main nozzles. The structure of the weft thread is not attacked.

Tests by the applicant have based on comparative measurements between the invention. trained entry nozzle and known entry nozzles shown that at a pressure of the air flow between 1.0 to 6.0 bar, the force transmission to the weft by about 10% to 30%, depending on the ratio of the end section-outer diameter of the weft feed tube to the start section-inner diameter of the mixing tube , is higher.
The invention. Solution guaranteed, and this is confirmed by measurement results from the applicant, that at a pre-pressure of 1.0 bar there is suction at the entrance of the weft feed tube of below - 100 mbar, which guarantees the threading function of the weft thread in the entry nozzle.

Furthermore, it was found from the comparative measurements of the thread flight time that when using fiber and filament yarns in weft with the invention. trained entry nozzle clearly shorter thread flight times can be achieved. The comparative measurements were based on the same pressure conditions at the entry nozzles.

In the production of glass fabric, for example, the machine speed could be increased to 128% without the quality of the fabric being adversely affected.

The invention will be explained in more detail below using an exemplary embodiment.

The entry nozzle 1 for inserting the weft thread 2 in a shed, not shown, consists according to Fig. 1 from a thread feed tube 3, from a concentrically surrounded by a housing 4 air supply duct 5 for an air pressure supplied via the nozzle 6, see also arrow 7, and from a mixing tube 8, which is in the extension of the thread feed tube 3 within the feed nozzle 1 is arranged.
Both the thread feed tube 3 and the mixing tube 8 can be arranged axially displaceably in the direction of the double arrows 9 and 10 in the housing 4, in order to overlap, see also detail Z, between the end section 3a of the thread feed tube 3 and the start section 8a of the mixing tube 8 to accelerate the air flow. For this purpose, the end section 3a is formed, for example, in the manner of an outer cone and the beginning section 8a, for example in the manner of an inner cone.

Eine zylindrische Ausbildung dieser Abschnitte ist denkbar.A cylindrical design of these sections is conceivable.

An air flow channel 5a with an annular cross-sectional area is formed between the outer cone and the inner cone, see also FIG. 3, the cross section of which is variable when the thread feed tube 3 or the mixing tube 8 is axially adjustable in order to give the air flow the desired acceleration.
The annular air flow channel 5a opens into a circularly enclosed air flow channel 8b of the mixing tube 8.

The cross-sectional area of the air flow channel 8b is larger compared to the cross-sectional area of the air flow channel 5a.
The end section 3a of the thread feed pipe 3 has the invention. eg incisions 11, for example in the manner of a notch, which are preferably arranged symmetrically about the central axis 12 of the thread feed tube 3.
It has been found to be advantageous when inserting the weft thread if the opening angle of the incision in question is 11 <90 °.
FIGS. 4 and 5 show the end section 3a of the thread feed tube 3, the wall of which has more than 2 incisions 11.

In FIG. 6, instead of cuts 11, openings 13, 14, 15 are provided in the manner of through bores, which are made in one or more circumferential rows in the wall of the end section 3a.
It is advantageous if the bores are arranged at an acute angle to the central axis 12 in the air flow direction, see also arrows 7.
It is also advantageous if the cross-sectional areas of both the incisions 11 and the rows of bores 13, 14, 15 increase in the direction of the end face of the thread feed tube 3 in the end section 3a.

Die Funktionsweise der erfindungsgem. Lösung ist wie folgt:The operation of the invention. Solution is as follows:

The air supply takes place via the nozzle 6 with a certain pressure potential. This air flow enters the annular air supply duct 5 and the tapered one
Air flow channel 5a, which is formed by the overlap of the start portion 8a of the mixing tube 8 and the end portion 3a of the thread feed tube 3. Here The air flow experiences an acceleration, as a result of which it can assume a supersonic speed.
In order to prevent a sudden expansion of the air flow with its disadvantageous consequences on the weft thread and rather to achieve a gentle expansion during the transition of the accelerated air flow from the tapering cross section of the air flow channel 5a into the circular cross section of the air flow channel 8b of the mixing tube 8, the invention is achieved. the expansion process is shifted into the thread feed tube 3 by means of precautions in the end section 3a of the thread feed tube 3. This has the consequence that the air flow speed is reduced and the weft thread is carried gently and at an earlier point in time than is known.
