Description

The present invention relates to a product applicator cosmetic usable in particular for applying a mascara.

We already know applicators of this type which are made by a container intended to contain the cosmetic product which is provided at its upper part of a constriction (or wringer) and by a stopper comprising a rod provided at its end with a brush which plunges into the cosmetic product when the cap is placed on the container, brush extraction after unscrewing the plug causing spinning the cosmetic product by passing the brush to through the neck.

Such applicators which allow to determine the quantity cosmetic product which is extracted by brush, have the disadvantage that as the product is used cosmetic, the latter accumulates while drying in the part of the container which is located above the necked, which causes gradually closing the passage opening of the brush and unnecessary loss of part of the cosmetic product.

Known applicators generally have the disadvantage that, during the extraction of the brush, the rod which supports it causes a piston effect creating inside the container a depression which disturbs the spinning of the brush during its passage to through the constriction.

We know from US-A-1-3 469 928 an applicator comprising a brush and a flexible member for collecting a possible flow of mascara on the rod during application and to clean the wiper member when the brush retracts in the container.

In this known applicator, as in the targeted applicators above, the withdrawal of the rod causes a depression in the container, which remains as long as the flexible member applies tightly on the inner surface of the wiper member.

The sudden return of the container to atmospheric pressure is accompanied by a risk of projection onto the mascara brush having accumulated on the wiper member.

The mascara thus projected forms clumps on the brush which harm makeup.

The object of the present invention is to avoid the drawbacks mentioned above using a simple, reliable and inexpensive means.

The present invention relates to an applicator as defined in claims 1 or 10.

Internal and external pressure balancing can be done in different ways.

One can, for example, provide a diameter of the rod which is less than that of the necking over a sufficient length between the brush and cleaning device.

It is also possible to use a cleaning member which is provided openings and does not provide a seal when it through the constriction.

Internal and external pressure balancing is thus obtained by the fact, that before the passage of the brush in the neck, it produces an opening through which ambient air can enter the lower body of the container to occupy the volume left free by stem extraction.

cet équilibrage peut également être obtenu par le fait qu'une certaine quantité de produit cosmétique se trouve réaspirée à l'intérieur du récipient par la dépression résultant du retrait de la tige du bouchon.this balancing can also be obtained by the fact that a certain amount of cosmetic product is re-aspirated to inside the container by the depression resulting from the withdrawal of the plug stem.

According to the invention, the cleaning member can be advantageously constituted by a thin brush or else by a flexible diaphragm made of an easily deformable material.

In accordance with a preferred embodiment of the invention, the brush has a diameter which is substantially greater than the constriction diameter.

According to the invention, the body of the brush may have an external geometry of various shapes, for example cylindrical, frustoconical, doubly frustoconical or with a rounded profile whose diameter decreases at both ends.

Likewise, the bristle pockets constituting the brush can for example be regularly arranged on the periphery thereof or according to lines parallel to the axis of the brush or according helical lines.

Similarly, the brush can be made in any way and with materials of all suitable natures.

According to the invention, it is advantageous that the cleaning is at a sufficient distance from the brush so that, when crossing the neck, this organ can deform towards the bottom without noticeably leaning on the brush, which could disturb the spinning of the latter.

According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, the brush has continuity with the cleaning device which presents itself also in the form of a brush.

This is how the entire brush and the cleaning can advantageously have a fish profile shape, whose tail width is preferably significantly greater than constriction diameter, whose body width is also clearly greater than the diameter of the neck and the part which connects the body at the tail is of a width markedly less than the diameter of the constricted to allow internal pressure balancing and external when removing the brush from the container for sound use.

Thanks to this pressure balancing, the applicator according to the invention has the advantage of allowing precise spinning of the brush when it is removed from the container, i.e. to allow good control of the amount of cosmetic product that is entrained by brush, quantity that can be determined according to the use we should make of it.

The applicator according to the invention also has the advantage avoid that, when reintroducing the brush inside the container, the cosmetic product accumulates in the part of the container which is located above the neck where it would thicken and would harden by gradually closing the passage of the brush.

Indeed, when we introduce the brush into the container, the passage of the latter through the constriction causes a new spinning the brush which has the effect of depositing a certain amount of cosmetic composition above the neck.

Continuing to lower the brush inside the container, the cleaning member which, according to the invention, located above the brush and whose diameter is preferably slightly larger than the diameter of the part of the container which is located immediately above the neck, sweeps the cosmetic product which is deposited above the neck during the brush passage.

It follows that the cleaning member drives with it through the constriction of this cosmetic product which is thus reduced to inside the container.

We understand the additional interest that the fact that the sweeping member is offset above the brush because, as just described, the scanning member can better train the cosmetic product after it has deposited over shrinking.

We see that the invention makes it possible to keep constantly clean and without accumulation of more or less hardened cosmetic product or mashed, the part of the container which is located above the neck.

Experience has also shown that having a continuously cleaning member and brush directly to the end of the rod which, in the closed state, enters the neck to seal it, has the advantage of helping to prevent the Thickened cosmetic product accumulates on the applicator.

In order to better understand the invention we will now describe by way of illustration and without any limiting character, several embodiments taken as examples and shown in the accompanying drawing in which:
  • FIG. 1 is a schematic sectional view of a cosmetic product applicator according to the state of the art,
  • FIGS. 2 and 3 show in schematic section, two embodiments of the applicator according to the invention,

  • FIG. 14 represents a schematic sectional view of a variant of the necking according to the invention, and
  • FIG. 15 represents a preferred embodiment of the end of the rod and of the brush of the applicator according to the invention.

There is shown in Figure 1 a schematic sectional view of a cosmetic product applicator according to the state of the art.

This applicator comprises a container 1 which comprises, at the inside of its neck, a capsule 2, for example in material plastic, which closes it, leaving an opening 3 forming a constriction and constituting a certain free volume in the neck at the part top of container 1.

The opening or constriction 3 is also called wringer.

A plug 4 is provided with a rod 5 which has at its part lower a brush 6 whose function is to extract a certain quantity of cosmetic product, with a view to its application.

For its watertight closure, the plug 4 is provided with a thread 7 which cooperates with a thread 8 located at the top of the container 1.

A l'état fermé, la brosse 6 est plongée dans la composition cosmétique 9, le bouchon 4 étant vissé sur le récipient 1.In the closed state, the brush 6 is immersed in the composition cosmetic 9, the cap 4 being screwed onto the container 1.

To carry out an application of the cosmetic product, the cap 4 is unscrewed and the brush 6 is extracted by passing it through the necked 3, which has the effect of causing the excess of cosmetic composition that the brush would entrain by capillarity out of the container 1.

However, the displacement of the rod inside the constriction before the brush enters the latter results in put the inside of the container in depression compared to the atmosphere, which creates a piston effect and disturbs the dosage of the cosmetic product when the brush passes through the necking.

After use, the bottle is capped by introducing the brush 6 through the neck 3, causing a new spin of the brush and causes the deposit of a certain amount of cosmetic composition 10 in the volume of the container which is located above the neck 3.

This cosmetic product, which has already been exposed to air during the application, is generally more viscous than the product cosmetic 9 which is inside the bottle, so that during successive applications, the amount of cosmetic product 10 that builds up over the narrowed 3 is growing important and that it ends up solidifying by closing off the passage brush 6.

This has the double disadvantage, on the one hand of disturbing spinning the brush and thereby changing the amount of cosmetic composition driven by the brush for its application, and on the other hand to cause the loss of an amount of cosmetic product which accumulates in 10.

The present invention allows, using a simple means, efficient and economical, to eliminate the aforementioned drawbacks.

We see in Figures 2 and 3, which represent two modes of particular realization of the invention, how the organ is arranged cleaning 11 above the brush 6.

According to the invention, it is advantageous that the diameter of the cleaning member 11 is wide enough to be able sweep and return to container 1 the cosmetic product which has deposited above the neck.

In the preferred embodiment of Figure 2, the brush has a general shape of fish whose body 6 connects to the organ cleaning 11 which constitutes the tail.

According to the invention, the part 6a of the brush 6 which connects it to the cleaning member 11 has a diameter which is less than the shrinkage to ensure that during the passage of this part 6a through the constricted 3, the atmospheric pressure can be restored inside the container 1 before the body of the brush 6 engages itself in the constricted 3.

In the embodiment of FIG. 3, the brush 6 has a cylindrical shape with a frustoconical end, the cleaning member 11 being located on the rod 5 a slightly above the brush.

This second embodiment of the invention differs from that of Figure 2 by a discontinuity between the brush itself said 6 and the cleaning member 11, which also allows a setting of container 1 in communication with the atmosphere and a rupture of the boosting effect that usually occurs when removes the applicator member from the container.

The fact that the cleaning member 11 is separated from the body brush 6 itself by an empty space or lower diameter also has the advantage that, as it ascends towards the top, the cleaning member 11 can easily deform towards the bottom, without significantly deforming the upper part of the brush and without disturb the spinning of the latter when it passes in the constricted 3.

Schematically shown in Figure 4 the extraction of the applicator of Figure 2 out of the container when the organ cleaning 11 is going through the neck 3 in having its periphery folded down.

It is noted that this deformation of the cleaning member 11 does not entail any deformation of the brush 6 due to space 6 has left free between the cleaning member 11 and the body of the brush 6.

Under these conditions, the spinning member of the cleaning 11 which thus eliminates a significant part of the product cosmetic that it entails, without disturbing the controlled spinning of the brush 6 which allows to train the latter only a quantity predetermined cosmetic composition.

Ce passage provoque un essorage de la brosse qui dépose une partie de la composition cosmétique non utilisée en 10 au-dessus du rétreint 3.FIG. 5 shows the brush 6 while it is reintroduced into container 1 while being slightly deformed by its passage through the constriction 3. This passage causes the spinning of the brush which deposits part of the unused cosmetic composition at 10 above the neck 3.

By continuing to lower the brush inside the container, we see, as shown in Figure 6, that the periphery of the cleaning member 11 scans the interior surface of the capsule 2 by driving down the main part of the composition cosmetic 10 which has accumulated there during the passage of the brush.

This cosmetic product 10 is easily discharged into the container 1, as shown by the arrows, due to the free space 6 a which is located between the body of the brush 6 and the cleaning member 11.

We see in Figure 7 how, when the cleaning 11 arrives at the constriction 3, it deforms towards the top, finishing the introduction inside the container of the cosmetic product that had accumulated above the neck.

In a preferred embodiment, the lower part 5 a of the rod 5 has, as can be seen in FIGS. 2, 4 and 5, a shape with decreasing diameter, which allows easier passage of the member cleaning 11 through the neck 3.

We understand under these conditions that the addition of the organ cleaning 11 above the brush also avoids any accumulation of cosmetic composition above the neck, which eliminates the drawbacks which have been recalled above for applicators known from the state of the art.

Another embodiment of FIG. 8 is shown. the brush which in this case has a frustoconical shape.

In the embodiment of Figure 9, the brush 6 has a generally cylindrical shape and the cleaning member 11 is constituted by a thin diaphragm whose central part is integral with the extension 5 a of the rod 5 and whose periphery is likely to deform elastically to apply to the internal wall of the capsule 2 above the neck 3, then to pass through the neck 3 itself.

The diaphragm 11 can optionally be provided with orifices which facilitate the balancing of internal and external pressures.

Figure 10 is a sectional view along X-X of Figure 2, where we find the cleaning member 11 which is constituted by a brush of small thickness and circular shape, as well as the brush 6 which, in this case, consists of four rows of bristle pockets arranged at right angles.

In the embodiment of FIG. 11, the brush 6 has pockets distributed evenly around its periphery, this last having a section whose general shape is that of a prism with a curvilinear triangular base, while the organ of cleaning 11 has a circular shape.

In the embodiment of Figure 12 the body of cleaning 11 has a circular periphery, the section of the brush 6 having the general shape of a square with cut corners and concave sides.

There is shown in Figure 13 a cylindrical brush and a cleaning member 11 such as that shown in Figure 9, which is constituted by an easily deformable diaphragm made of an elastic material and having four perforations 11 a .

Finally, there is shown in FIG. 14 a variant in which the shape of the upper part 2 a of the constriction 3 has been modified in accordance with a preferred embodiment of the invention so as to progressively reduce the internal diameter of the capsule 2 in order to to facilitate the evacuation by the constriction 3 of the cosmetic composition which has accumulated above it.

In this embodiment, the neck 3 has a diameter of 3.8 mm and the rod 5 has a diameter of 3.5 mm. The cleaning member 11 which has a diameter of 5 mm is formed in a single unit with the brush with which it is connected by a part 6 a of 3 mm in diameter.

La brosse 6 6 en forme générale de navette sectionnée a un diamètre maximum de 6 mm et un diamètre de 4,5 mm à son extrémité avant 6b.The brush 6 6 in the general shape of a sectioned shuttle has a maximum diameter of 6 mm and a diameter of 4.5 mm at its front end 6 b .

It can be seen that, in accordance with the invention, thanks to a means simple and economical, we avoid both the piston effect which disrupts brush spinning and build-up cosmetic over the neck.

It is understood that the embodiments which have been described above are in no way limiting and that they will be able to receive any desirable modifications without leaving for that of the scope of the invention.

In particular, it is clear that the invention is not limited to a particular form of brush and that the latter can be made with pockets arranged according to its generators or according to a helical path around the rod 5, the brush can still be performed with a regular distribution of bristles over its entire periphery.

It also goes without saying that the brush can be made of different ways and with materials of different natures.

It is also clear that the cleaning member can be produced otherwise than in the form of a flat brush comprising pockets arranged on its periphery or regularly distributed hairs or only in the form of a flexible diaphragm.

It suffices that the cleaning member is sufficiently deformable to sweep the cosmetic composition which is above the constriction and to pass it through the latter.
