Längs dieser Umreifungsmittelführung 28 ist eine Umreifungsmittel-Umlenkung 29 vertikalbeweglich angeordnet, die die Aufgabe hat, das Umreifungsmittel 14 jeweils an der Stelle, an der sich die Umreifungsmittel-Umlenkung 29 befindet, an eine horizontal angeordnete Umreifungsmittel-Überleitung 30 zu übergeben, die es zum Verschlußaggregat 18 weiterführt. Beim Ausführungsbeispiel geschieht dies durch den Umreifungsmittelspeicher 19 hindurch.        a pressing plate (16) for compressing the goods to be packed (11),
       a sealing unit (18) for the ends of the girdling means (14) tightened around the goods being packed (11),
       if need be a girdling means store (19) for holding a quantity of girdling means available ahead of the sealing unit (18),
       a girdling means feed (27), and
       a girdling means guide (28) between the girdling means supply (12) and the sealing unit (18) or the girdling means store (19),
       the sealing unit (18) as well as if need be the girdling means store (19) being arranged in vertically movable manner with the pressing plate (16),
       while the girdling means supply (12) is arranged close to the floor to the side away from the girdling zone and the pressing plate (16),
       the girdling means guide (28) comprises at least one channel-like girdling means transfer device (30) leading to the sealing unit (18) or girdling means store (19), and
       the girdling means feed (27) is accessible from the outside of the device where the girdling means supply (12) is arranged,
       characterised in that
       the girdling means feed (27) is associated with a lower section of a girdling means guide channel (28) which extends vertically adjacent to an upright (15) of the girdling frame (20-21-24-22-23) and alongside which a girdling means rerouter device (29) for passing on the girdling means (14) into the girdling transfer device (30) is guided in vertically displaceable manner synchronously with the pressing plate (16) and, on its side facing the girdling zone, the girdling means guide channel (28) comprises a channel closing mechanism (lips 39) which can be opened automatically by the movement of the girdling means rerouter device (29).
  2. Device according to Claim 1, characterised in that a girdling means insertion device (25) is associated with the girdling means feed (27).
  3. Device according to Claim 1 or 2, characterised in that the girdling means guide channel (28) corresponds with an upright (15) of the girdling frame and the corner rerouter (29) with that (33) which reroutes the girdling means from the girdling means guide channel (21) of the upright (15) in the horizontal direction.
  4. Device according to one of the Claims 1 to 3, characterised in that the girdling means guide channel (28) has the same length as a girdling means guide channel (21) associated with the upright (15) of the girdling frame, but is arranged to be displaced upwardly with respect to the latter.
  5. Device according to Claim 1 or one of those following having at least two girdling means guide frames (20-24) provided in parallel vertical planes (E1, E2) between which the sealing unit (18) and if need be the girdling means store (19) can be displaced, characterised in that the girdling means guide channel (28) is arranged between two uprights (15) of the girdling means guide frames (20-24) and the girdling means transfer device (30) is arranged pivotably between the girdling means rerouter device (29) and the sealing unit (18) or the girdling means store (19).
  6. Device according to Claim 5, characterised in that the girdling means transfer device (30) is coupled in positively pivotable manner to the sealing unit (18) or the girdling means store (19).
