Definitions
- the invention relates to a method and a device for filling depressions, such as cups or grooves, on the lateral surface of a rotating, cylindrical body, such as rollers, cylinders or sleeves, with a liquid by means of a liquid arranged along the jacket of the cylindrical body and open towards it Chamber.
- a rotating, cylindrical body such as rollers, cylinders or sleeves
- Such cylindrical body can, for. B. anilox rollers of short inking units or gravure cylinders that are colored. It can also be used, for example, in dampening or painting plants.
- the hydrodynamic pressure of the ink jam is dependent on the peripheral speed of the cylinder to be inked, which leads to a speed-dependent knife pressure on the cylinder and thus to the known color fluctuations depending on the speed in gravure printing.
- the cohesive forces of the printing inks are fundamentally much higher than the adhesive forces Printing form, which is why ink is always removed from the well surface after the well filling, so that there is at least a ten percent underfilling of the wells.
- Anilox rollers are currently being inked using chambered doctor blade systems in a wide variety of embodiments, based on different teachings.
- DE 92 16 754 U1 shows a chamber doctor blade in which both the working doctor blade and the closing doctor blade are negative, i. H. counter to the direction of rotation of the anilox roller are set against it and the color space is rectangular.
- a higher chamber pressure must be ensured.
- this pressure in the chamber inevitably leads to the opening of the negative closing doctor blade and thus to the ink leakage, apart from the increased wear of the working doctor blade.
- paint nests are formed in the corners of the chamber with air accumulations that interfere with the coloring.
- EP 0 315 091 B1 shows an exemplary embodiment with a doctor blade chamber with an interior with a circular cross section, in which there is a cylindrical profile body which bears against the anilox roller and is driven by it. Also differently shaped internals are proposed. This construction can also not ensure proper functioning. Air inevitably gets into the interior, on the one hand through the emptied cells, and on the other hand through the drag flow on the cylinder surface. The ink that has flowed to the anilox roller in the interior cannot freely exchange with the air, but mixes with the air.
- DE 39 11 839 A1 shows a coloring device in which a paint application channel with a circular segment-shaped cross section is arranged in a non-pressurized cistern. This passes the ink fed along its length to an anilox roller.
- a paint application channel with a circular segment-shaped cross section is arranged in a non-pressurized cistern. This passes the ink fed along its length to an anilox roller.
- the object of the invention is to provide a method that reliably eliminates the depressions on the lateral surface of a rotating cylindrical body with a liquid while eliminating the adverse influence of air and at low liquid pressure.
- a structurally simple device for performing the method must be created.
- the invention uses a rotating liquid roller for filling the depressions, which is formed in the correspondingly shaped interior of a chamber positioned on the cylindrical body.
- the liquid roller avoids relative movements to the cylindrical body both in the circumferential direction and in the longitudinal direction, whereby a prerequisite for a perfect inking is given.
- In the longitudinal direction there is only the In the middle of the liquid roller, a longitudinal flow that radially declines to zero around the circumference.
- the central flow is brought about by the central supply of liquid with excess pressure at one end and also the central discharge at the other end of the liquid roll.
- air introduced into the chamber collects in the center of the liquid roller due to the gradient of the peripheral speed towards the center. There the air does not interfere with the coloring and can also be removed due to the longitudinal flow in the center. Missing dots are prevented.
- the rotating cylindrical body stimulates the liquid roller rotation.
- this acts like a vane pump, i.e. the body conveys the liquid within the chamber and circulates it.
- this conveyance is a multiple of the ink consumption and a multiple of what an ink feed pump should bring.
- the reliable filling of the depressions is ensured irrespective of the speed of the cylindrical body, since the internal circulating flow speed is independent of the ink supply and its pressure.
- the circumferential flow of the liquid roller is also advantageously guided along the width of a doctor blade, so that there is no back pressure and the doctor blade pressure does not have to be tracked when the speed changes, neither in the negative nor in the positive position.
- the device Since the liquid does not jam, apart from hitting the doctor tip, the device operates with only a low internal pressure, so that overall the wear of the doctor blade and the cylindrical body is low. At the same time, the overpressure ensures pressure on the working and closing doctor blades in the sense of a control loop.
- the device according to the invention has a simple construction and is therefore inexpensive to produce.
- the device also has a small size, since a perfect coloring with the smallest chamber volume can be ensured regardless of the rotational speed of the cylindrical body, since the internal circulation flow rate and the liquid supply with pressure are independent of one another. With a diameter of 5 cm of the interior of the chamber and a length of the chamber of 260 cm, a reliable filling of the depressions is still guaranteed.
- the small volume of the chamber is also an advantage when changing colors.
- the device includes a chamber 3, which is arranged along the jacket 2 of the gravure forme cylinder 1 and has an interior 4 with a circular cross section.
- the interior 4 is formed by a chamber body 5, a squeegee holder 6, a working squeegee 7 and a closing squeegee 8 and is open to the gravure forme cylinder 1.
- the interior 4 is closed off by side walls 9, 10 (FIG. 4).
- the side walls 9, 10 are walls of the chamber body 5. However, they can also be formed, for example, by side parts placed on the front side of the chamber body 5.
- the side walls 9, 10 contain a liquid inlet 11 and a liquid outlet 12 lying opposite one another concentrically to the interior 4 of the chamber 3.
- the working squeegee 7 is positioned negatively on the gravure cylinder 1 and is clamped in the squeegee holder 6 for this purpose.
- the latter contains a concavely angled receiving surface 13 (FIG. 2).
- the working squeegee 7 is pulled into this recess when tensioning with the bar 14, the working squeegee is bent over its entire length and stiffens.
- the interior 4 is closed by the closing squeegee 8 positioned positively on the gravure forme cylinder.
- the latter is screwed onto the chamber body 5 by means of a strip 16.
- a closing bar can also be used, which is a short distance from the gravure cylinder 1.
- Such a closing bar can also be designed as part of the chamber body.
- the chamber 3 is advantageously mounted in an alternating manner in the longitudinal direction of the gravure forme cylinder 1.
- the traversing is shown schematically in FIG. 5.
- the squeegee holder 6 is pivotally and slidably adjustable towards the gravure cylinder 1.
- the adjustment possibility is shown in Fig. 6.
- the doctor blade 7 negatively adjusting the doctor blade holder 6 can be exchanged for a doctor blade 20 positively adjusting the working doctor blade 19 to the gravure cylinder 1.
- Such a combination of the chamber body 5 with the doctor holder 20 is shown in FIG. 3.
- the chamber 3 is advantageously fastened on a doctor table 21 (FIG. 7).
- a U-shaped receptacle 22 is screwed onto the latter, into which the chamber 3 is inserted.
- Working cylinders 23 let into the doctor table 21 distributed over its length clamp the chamber 3 against a yoke of the receptacle 22.
- the adjusting screws 17, 18 serving to adjust the doctor holder 6 are also screwed into the receptacle 22.
- the working cylinders 23 are relaxed to a pilot pressure, after which the squeegee holder 6 can be displaced and pivoted by correspondingly confirming the adjusting screws 17, 18.
- the working cylinders 23 are then subjected to full pressure again.
- the doctor table 21 is mounted on a round cross member 24 fixed to the frame. For the purpose of traversing the chamber, it is advantageously moved together with the doctor table 21 on the round cross member 24.
- the squeegee table is rotatable on the round cross member 24 and the chamber 3 together with the latter can be pivoted away from the gravure cylinder 1.
- the pivoting is advantageously carried out by means of a working cylinder (not shown) which is articulated on the doctor table 21 and is articulated on the frame.
- the chamber 3 is pivoted onto it.
- a paint pump which pumps paint into the interior 4 is connected to the liquid inlet 11, not shown.
- the arrow in Fig. 4 is intended to embody this.
- the chamber 3 is operated with an internal pressure of 0.1 to 1.5 bar. Too much conveyed paint is removed at the liquid outlet 12 and returned to the paint container. The color required to fill the cells is supplied once. By one versus this Consumption of a higher flow rate, a pressure is built up in the chamber 3 and a good mixing and renewal of the color in the chamber and removal of the possibly present air is effected.
- the color in the interior 4 of the chamber 3 is carried along by adhesion to the surface of the jacket 2 of the rotating gravure cylinder 1 and set in rotation, so that a rotating liquid roller 25 forms in the interior 4. This reliably fills the wells of the gravure cylinder 1, which are then doctored by the doctor blade 7.
- the chamber 3 oscillates on the gravure cylinder 1.
- this is not a condition for the application of the invention.
- the invention was described using the example of inking a gravure cylinder.
- anilox rollers of short inking units could also be inked with the device.
- Easily water-soluble gravure inks can also be processed with the device.
- the use of the device is not limited to coloring processes.
- the device is e.g. B. also advantageous for filling anilox rollers of coating units or the dampening unit of printing press feeding rollers.
- the use of chambers containing no doctor blades is also possible.

Description
The invention relates to a method and a device for filling depressions, such as cups or grooves, on the lateral surface of a rotating, cylindrical body, such as rollers, cylinders or sleeves, with a liquid by means of a liquid arranged along the jacket of the cylindrical body and open towards it Chamber. Such cylindrical body can, for. B. anilox rollers of short inking units or gravure cylinders that are colored. It can also be used, for example, in dampening or painting plants.
In the case of gravure cylinders, immersion inking with the subsequent doctoring by means of a doctor blade (eg EP 0 114 329 B1) is traditional. Apart from spraying or spraying paint, this inking, especially with a positive squeegee, ie with a squeegee pointing in the direction of rotation of the cylinder, results in a build-up of ink, since the cylinder promotes a considerable amount of ink and the constantly newly promoted ink prevents it from flowing back. The ink build-up causes the doctor blade to deflect, which compensates for increased doctor blade contact forces. In conjunction with the jammed ink, this causes considerable lubricating wear on the printing form. Furthermore, the hydrodynamic pressure of the ink jam is dependent on the peripheral speed of the cylinder to be inked, which leads to a speed-dependent knife pressure on the cylinder and thus to the known color fluctuations depending on the speed in gravure printing. Finally, the cohesive forces of the printing inks are fundamentally much higher than the adhesive forces Printing form, which is why ink is always removed from the well surface after the well filling, so that there is at least a ten percent underfilling of the wells.
Anilox rollers are currently being inked using chambered doctor blade systems in a wide variety of embodiments, based on different teachings. For example, DE 92 16 754 U1 shows a chamber doctor blade in which both the working doctor blade and the closing doctor blade are negative, i. H. counter to the direction of rotation of the anilox roller are set against it and the color space is rectangular. In order to fill the chamber at least axially uniformly, a higher chamber pressure must be ensured. However, this pressure in the chamber inevitably leads to the opening of the negative closing doctor blade and thus to the ink leakage, apart from the increased wear of the working doctor blade. In addition, due to poor color flow, paint nests are formed in the corners of the chamber with air accumulations that interfere with the coloring.
According to EP 0 324 140 B1 an attempt is made to release the ink without pressure by installing a scoop roller in the doctor blade.
Other property rights, in turn, describe the necessity of installing in the interior of the chambered doctor blade. EP 0 315 091 B1, for example, shows an exemplary embodiment with a doctor blade chamber with an interior with a circular cross section, in which there is a cylindrical profile body which bears against the anilox roller and is driven by it.
Furthermore, there is an acceleration of the color in the gap to the internals, so that there is the relative movement between the color and the cylinder surface which disturbs the coloring. Behind the gap created with the internals there is a diffuse relaxation of the ink film, with the result that there is no reason at all to stick to the surface of the working squeegee, since it can flow freely and will therefore strive for drainage rather than through Accumulate under the doctor blade tip to ensure even coloring.
This passes the ink fed along its length to an anilox roller. Here too there are problems of air accumulation in the ink channel and of the air influence on the way of the wells to a working squeegee which is optionally spaced apart from the ink application channel.
The object of the invention is to provide a method that reliably eliminates the depressions on the lateral surface of a rotating cylindrical body with a liquid while eliminating the adverse influence of air and at low liquid pressure. In addition, a structurally simple device for performing the method must be created.
This object is achieved according to the invention by a method with the features of
The rotating cylindrical body stimulates the liquid roller rotation. In principle, this acts like a vane pump, i.e. the body conveys the liquid within the chamber and circulates it. Corresponding to the large surface area of the rotating, cylindrical body, its cup volume and its peripheral speed, this conveyance is a multiple of the ink consumption and a multiple of what an ink feed pump should bring. The reliable filling of the depressions is ensured irrespective of the speed of the cylindrical body, since the internal circulating flow speed is independent of the ink supply and its pressure. In one embodiment, the circumferential flow of the liquid roller is also advantageously guided along the width of a doctor blade, so that there is no back pressure and the doctor blade pressure does not have to be tracked when the speed changes, neither in the negative nor in the positive position. Since the liquid does not jam, apart from hitting the doctor tip, the device operates with only a low internal pressure, so that overall the wear of the doctor blade and the cylindrical body is low. At the same time, the overpressure ensures pressure on the working and closing doctor blades in the sense of a control loop.
The device according to the invention has a simple construction and is therefore inexpensive to produce. The device also has a small size, since a perfect coloring with the smallest chamber volume can be ensured regardless of the rotational speed of the cylindrical body, since the internal circulation flow rate and the liquid supply with pressure are independent of one another. With a diameter of 5 cm of the interior of the chamber and a length of the chamber of 260 cm, a reliable filling of the depressions is still guaranteed. The small volume of the chamber is also an advantage when changing colors.

The color in the
The invention was described using the example of inking a gravure cylinder. Likewise, anilox rollers of short inking units could also be inked with the device. Easily water-soluble gravure inks can also be processed with the device. The use of the device is not limited to coloring processes. The device is e.g. B. also advantageous for filling anilox rollers of coating units or the dampening unit of printing press feeding rollers. Furthermore, the use of chambers containing no doctor blades is also possible.
