Abstract

The conveyor belt (1) is driven by a drive roller. The glue station is mounted in front of the label magazine, seen in the transport direction. The underneath of the magazine facing the belt is set at a distance from the belt. As the underneath of the magazine and the glue area of the belt pass over one another the glue area is temporarily brought into contact with the lowest label in the magazine. This can be achieved by the magazine swivelling about an axis down onto the belt and back up again. A cleaning device can be used to clean the belt after the dispensing position.

A first example of a labeling device has a conveyor belt 1, which is endless and is guided over a drive roller 2 driving the conveyor belt. At its end opposite the drive roller, the conveyor belt runs over a dispensing edge 3, at which the belt is sharply bent in the opposite direction from its previous web direction over the edge. In Figure 2, the drive roller is designed as a tractor roller with laterally protruding lugs similar to a paper feed tractor roller for feeding continuous paper on a computer. The conveyor belt from FIG. 2 has holes 4 on the sides corresponding to the protruding pins, via which holes the drive roller and the conveyor belt are connected to one another in a drive-free manner.

As can best be seen from FIGS. 1, 3 and 4, a glue station 5 is provided in the area of the drive roller. In the exemplary embodiment shown in FIG. 3, this can be seen as a glue station with a glue roller 6 with a glue feed 7, rubbing rollers and a glue thickness setting. In the glue station shown in FIG. 4, the glue is supplied via a glue nozzle 8 which extends over the corresponding width. Seen in the transport direction after the dispensing edge 3 and located between this and the transport roller 2, a stripping and cleaning device 10 is arranged, which serves to remove glue that has not been used when the glue is wetted with glue.

When viewed in the direction of transport, the actual label magazine 9 is arranged after the drive roller and at a distance from it. This comprises a frame with lateral holding rods 11. As can best be seen from FIG. 5, these have at their lower end a movable holding finger 12 which is prestressed by a compression spring. Each holding finger has at its lower free end a small hook 13 bent towards the labels, which serves to hold the labels and the lower label but then releases when there is some adhesion between the label and the underlying glue layer of the conveyor belt.

Tatsächlich betragen sie vorzugsweise etwa 5 bis 10°.The label magazine 9 is pivotally mounted about an axis 14. The axis is at a distance above the conveyor belt 1 and lies in a plane extending parallel to the conveyor belt and extends transversely to the direction of advance of the conveyor belt. The label magazine is mounted so that it runs through a path indicated by the arrows 1 'to 3' in Fig. 1. I.e. in a first cycle the label magazine is lifted from the transport path and inclined at an angle α of approximately 5 to 10 ° to the vertical. Due to the movement indicated by the arrow 1 ', the label magazine is placed on the tape 1 with its front edge 15. The edge 15 runs at the speed of the conveyor belt 1, so that the entire bottom of the label magazine comes into contact with the belt surface in the position shown in FIG. By a further pivoting movement by the angle β, the label magazine lifts off the tape with its front edge and, after it only abuts the tape with the rear edge, is pulled back upwards in the manner indicated by the arrow 3 'and pivoted into the starting position. As already mentioned above, the angles α and β are not drawn to scale in FIG. 1. In fact, they are preferably about 5 to 10 °.

Near the dispensing edge 3, a photo cell 16 is provided above the conveyor belt for scanning labels transported on the belt. Immediately at the end of the dispensing edge 3, a pressure roller 17 is provided for pressing labels emitted by the dispensing edge onto the object to be labeled. In addition to the dispensing edge 3 and below it, a device, schematically indicated by an arrow 18, is provided for placing and lifting the object 19 to be labeled. This is placed with its surface 20 to be labeled so that it lies in the plane of the incoming conveyor belt and next to the dispensing edge 3. The pressure roller 17 has a drive indicated by the arrow 22 and can be moved in the direction of the arrow 22 towards the label 23 to be dispensed via the dispensing edge 3 for pressing onto the object 19 to be labeled.

A controller 20 is provided, to which the measurement signal of the photocell 16 is fed. The control device 20 is connected to the device 18 for transporting the object to be labeled, the drive for the drive roller 2, the drive for the label magazine 9 and the glue station 5 and the drive for the pressure roller 17.

In operation, 5 glue is applied to the surface of the conveyor belt via the glue station. The controller 20 clocks the drive for the label station in such a way that the bottom surface of the label 21 comes into contact with the glued location of the conveyor belt 1. By bringing the glue into contact, it is pulled out of the stack and moved on with the conveyor belt, while the remaining labels are retained by the hooks 13 of the holding fingers 12. The label is conveyed on the conveyor belt 1 and detected via the photocell 16. At the dispensing edge, it is lifted off the belt and moved straight on. At this moment the object to be labeled is arranged on the edge of the donation. The pressure roller 17 presses the label 23 onto the object 19 to be labeled, which is moved further in synchronism with the belt speed in a plane of the conveyor belt and in the direction of advance of the conveyor belt and thus to a certain extent pulls off the label 23 which is further released from the belt, the label then completely is pressed on the pressure roller 17.

In the example of a labeling device described above, certain areas of the conveyor belt 1 which are to take over a label are provided with glue via the glue station. Contour gluing can also be carried out for special label shapes. The glue is transferred to the label by bringing the glue into contact with the glued conveyor belt 1.

Instead of pressing the label 23 after the dispensing edge 3 onto the object 19 to be labeled with the pressure roller, this can also be done by blowing on an air pressure source.

In another embodiment, instead of the tractor roller, the belt drive is carried out by a toothed belt vulcanized onto the belt.

The components not shown, such as the details of the label magazine 9, the pressure roller 17, etc. are the same as in the example shown in FIG. 1.

In addition to the sequence 1 of movement of the label magazine 9 already described in the first example, the possible sequence 2, which is also shown in FIG. 6, is added in this second example. In this sequence 2, the label magazine only moves up and down in a direction essentially perpendicular to the surface of the conveyor belt 1. The controller 20 clocks the drive for the label station in such a way that the lower-lying label 21 comes into contact with its rear surface with the glued location of the conveyor belt 1. Opposite the label magazine 9, a counter pressure plate 29 is provided on the other side of the conveyor belt 1. This counter-pressure plate 29 serves to relieve the conveyor belt 1 when the label 21 is applied to the glued conveyor belt 1.

It may happen that the label separation does not work properly at the position marked with position 1 in FIG. 7. This is particularly dependent on the glue used and the label quality used. For this reason, an alternative position 2, as shown in FIG. 7, is provided in a third embodiment of the labeling device. In this position 2 the label magazine 9 moves essentially as in sequence 1 in position 1. In position 2 the bottom label 21 is brought into contact with the glued point of the conveyor belt 1, while the glued point of the conveyor belt 1 is on the drive roller 2 located.

According to the first to third embodiments of the invention, in the first to third examples described hitherto in connection with FIGS. 1 to 7, instead of conveyor belts 1 which, as shown in FIG. 2, consist of a web over their entire width, Conveyor belts 1, which, as described below, consist of several individual belts 26, are used.

Die Spendekante 3 besteht aus Abstreifern 27 und Einzelbandführungen 28.8 shows a top view of the conveyor belt in the direction of the arrow marked A in FIGS. 6 and 7. As can be clearly seen, the conveyor belt consists of several individual belts 26. The individual belts 26 run, coming from the right in FIG to the dispensing edge 3. The dispensing edge 3 consists of scrapers 27 and individual belt guides 28.

Depending on the glue and paper quality, it happens that the label sticks so strongly on the conveyor belt that it is transported around the dispensing edge 3. This problem occurs with one-piece conveyor belts 1, but could also occur with conveyor belts consisting of several individual belts 26. To solve this problem, the embodiment described below with the wipers 27 was created.

Die Abstreifer 27 lösen das Etikett sicher von dem Transportband 1, 26.FIG. 9a shows a sectional view along the broken line XX from FIG. 8 and FIG. 9b shows a sectional view along the solid line XX from FIG. 8. As can best be seen from FIGS. 8, 9a and 9b, there is the conveyor belt 1 from a plurality of individual belts 26. The free space created between the individual belts is used to integrate scrapers 27 into the dispensing edge 3. The wipers 27 protrude in the direction of the further movement of the label over the conveyor belt 1, 26 which is guided downward at the dispensing edge. Between the wipers 27, the dispensing edge 3 has individual belt guides 28. The wipers 27 safely detach the label from the conveyor belt 1, 26.

Gummibeschichtungen, beschichtet. The individual belts 26 are driven in the same way as in the one-piece conveyor belt 1 via the drive roller 2. Both in the one-piece conveyor belt 1 and in the conveyor belt consisting of individual belts 26 there is a slip-free drive via a spiked roller and holes or toothed ring and toothed belt as well possible by coating the surfaces of the drive roller and / or the tapes in contact with the corresponding tapes. When coating, the corresponding surfaces are coated with a material that gives high static friction between the belt and drive roller, such as rubber coatings.

Der Abschaber kann senkrecht zur Laufrichtung des Transportbandes 1, 26 eingestellt werden.6 and 7 that tensioning rollers 24, 25 are provided for tensioning the conveyor belt. 6 and 7, a second embodiment of the stripping and cleaning device 10 is shown. It consists of a counter roller 10a and a scraper 10b. The counter roller 10a serves as relief for the individual belts 26 so that they are not damaged by the scraper 10b. The scraper can be adjusted perpendicular to the direction of travel of the conveyor belt 1, 26.

The glue roller 6 shown in FIGS. 6 and 7 corresponds to the glue roller 6 of the glue station 5 from FIG. 3. The embodiment of the glue roller 6 shown in FIGS. 6 and 7 has different sections 61, 62 with different circumferences. A comb-shaped scraper 30, as shown schematically in FIGS. 6 and 7, engages between the sections of different circumference.

The tensioning rollers 24 and 25 each arranged on a common axis tension the individual tapes 26. As can be seen very clearly in FIG. 10, the sections 61, 62 of different sizes of the glue roller 6 are arranged in such a way that the sections with larger circumference glue the individual tapes 26 , while the sections of smaller circumference 61 lie opposite the spaces between the individual bands 26. The comb-like scraper 30, which, as can be seen in FIGS. 6 and 7, can be displaced perpendicularly to the essentially cylindrical surfaces of the sections 61, 62 of the glue roller 6, is used to adjust the individual belts 26 through the sections Larger circumference 62 applied glue thickness, or for complete stripping of the glue if no ecticle is required.

In a further embodiment, the underside of the label magazine 9 facing the conveyor belt for relieving the conveyor belt when the label is brought into contact with the conveyor belt is extended to such an extent that it can be used as a counter pressure plate for a coding unit provided in the transport direction after the label magazine . Such a coding mechanism is also used to print barcodes, so-called barcodes, on the labels. Tarts and symbols can also be printed on the labels during the labeling process.

In all embodiments, as an alternative to gluing, in which only areas of the strips 1, 26 which are to take over a label are glued, the strips can be glued over the entire surface. The glue which is collected by the stripping and cleaning device 10 or the scraper 10b can be fed back to the gluing of the tape 1, 26. This will use all of the available glue. In this embodiment, it is not necessary to match or set the glue station 5 to the label used.
