Definitions
- the invention relates to an adjustable propeller with adjusting rods arranged in the propeller hub for adjusting the propeller blades and with a hydraulic cylinder for axially displacing the adjusting rods.
- Propeller blades of variable pitch propellers can be adjusted by hand or with a servo system. Manual adjustment is only possible with small adjustable propellers, since the adjustment forces can no longer be controlled manually with larger adjustable propellers.
- Variable pitch propellers of the type described in the introduction are known in various designs.
- the adjustment forces act as external forces that put additional strain on the thrust bearing of the propeller.
- the hydraulic cylinder is arranged upstream in front of the propeller in its bearing block, the piston rod of the hydraulic cylinder extending through the variable pitch propeller and being coupled to the adjusting rods on the downstream side. All known systems are usually designed for a certain propeller type and a certain propeller size. An exchange or retrofitting of the hydraulic system is usually not possible.
- the object of the invention is to design the hydraulic adjustment for a variable-pitch propeller so that it can be used regardless of the type of propeller and the size of the propeller, and existing variable-pitch propellers can also be retrofitted with it.
- the hydraulic cylinder is arranged coaxially to and downstream of the propeller shaft, its cylinder housing being releasably connectable to the adjusting rods and its piston rod releasably connectable to the propeller shaft, and that the piston rod guided beyond the cylinder housing is rotatably attached to one in one Boat body or a control sword of a sterndrive stator is mounted, through which pressure medium lines are guided.
- the stator with the components arranged therein and the hydraulic cylinder rotatably mounted therein is a unit which is independent of the adjustable propeller and which can be connected to the hull or a control sword of a sterndrive.
- variable pitch propeller and its adjusting mechanism are connected with detachable connections between the piston rod and the propeller hub or propeller shaft on the one hand and the cylinder housing and the adjusting rods on the other.
- the adjusting rods can be axially displaced by relative axial displacement between the cylinder housing and the pistons and the propeller blades of the adjustable propeller can thereby be adjusted.
- the piston must be double-acting. If it is a very rigid construction or if the axial adjustment paths are relatively large, it is advantageous if the stator is kept movable in the axial direction. A fine adjustment of the propeller blades is still possible, because only the axial relative displacement between the cylinder housing and the piston is responsible for this.
- the end of the piston rod which extends beyond the cylinder housing is surrounded by a bushing which has pressure medium channels which connect the pressure medium lines to the working spaces of the hydraulic cylinder.
- the bush rotating with the pistons or the piston rod is mounted in the stator. This enables a simple and reliable seal between the rotating and the fixed parts of the system, in particular if the pressure medium lines of the stator open between the bearings of the bushing and leakage collecting chambers are provided on the sides of the bearings facing one another, which are provided by a through the stator guided line are connected to a pressure medium tank.
- the sealing of the parts which are only axially displaceable relative to one another, e.g. the piston in the cylinder housing, on the other hand, is not critical and can be achieved by conventional means.
- a certain position of the propeller blades can also be set in a simple and reliable manner if the end of the piston rod on the propeller side is connected to the propeller shaft via a threaded section and the end of the piston rod on the stator side has a profile recess into which a profile pin which is axially displaceable against spring action in the stator is insertable, the piston being axially adjustable by rotating the profile pin pressed into the profile recess. This allows e.g. move or adjust the pitch range of the propeller blades as required.
- An adjustable propeller 2 with propeller blades 3 is mounted in a conventional manner on a sterndrive 1 shown in FIG. Downstream behind the adjustable propeller 2, a control sword 4 is mounted on the rubber drive pivot pin 5 on the underside of the sterndrive 1, which can execute 5 pivoting movements limited about the axis of the pivot pin.
- a stator 7 is fastened with a bolt 6, in which a hydraulic cylinder 8 is rotatably mounted, the cylinder housing 9 of which is detachably connected to adjusting rods 10 projecting beyond the free end face of the variable pitch propeller 2 and the piston rod 11 of which is detachably connected to the propeller shaft 12 is detachably connected under a component connected to it.
- a hydraulic pump unit 13 is arranged in the hull 14. Pressure medium lines 15, 16, 17 and at least one measuring line 18 extend from the hydraulic pump unit 14 through the sterndrive 1 and the control sword 4 to the stator 7.
- the cylinder housing has a number of radial projections 19 corresponding to the number of adjusting rods 10 or the number of propeller blades 3 with associated recesses 20 for adjusting and releasably fastening the adjusting rods 10.
- a double-acting piston 21 is sealed and axially displaceably guided in the cylinder housing 9, which pressure medium spaces 22 and 23 are assigned on both sides.
- the piston 21 is made in one piece with the piston rod 11, which has a threaded end 24 on the propeller side, which is screwed into an associated internal thread of the propeller shaft 12 or a component connected to it.
- the propeller-side pressure medium chamber 23 is closed off with a cylinder cover 26, which is sealed against the piston rod 11 and the propeller shaft 12 and is screwed into an internally threaded section 25 of the cylinder housing 9.
- the piston rod 11 extends into the stator 7 and is mounted in the stator.
- the piston rod 11 is surrounded by a bushing 27, which is rotatably mounted in the stator 7 in two ball bearings 28 which are arranged at a distance from one another.
- the bushing 27 has a radial flange 29 on the propeller side, with which it is fastened on the inside to the cylinder housing 9 and which delimits the pressure medium space 22. All parts described so far rotate with the propeller shaft 12.
- an oil distribution ring 30 is arranged on the bushing 27, into which the pressure medium lines 15, 16 open.
- the pressure medium lines 15, 16 are connected to the hydraulic pump unit 13 via assigned valve controls.
- Pressure medium channels 31 extend from these pressure medium lines 15, 16 and extend through the oil distribution ring 30 and the bushing 27 to the working spaces 22 and 23, respectively. It goes without saying that the pressure medium line 15 is connected to the pressure medium space 22 and the pressure medium line 16 to the pressure medium space 23, or vice versa.
- collecting chambers 32 which receive leakage oil which emerges between the rotating and the stationary parts. Both collecting chambers 32 are connected to one another via a connecting bore 33 in the socket 27, and one of the collecting chambers 32 is connected to the pressure medium line 17, which in turn leads to a pressure medium tank in the hull. The leakage oil entering the collecting chambers 32 also lubricates the ball bearings 28.
- the stator end of the piston rod 11 has a e.g. hexagonal profile recess 34.
- the associated profile end 35 of a pin 36 can be pressed into this profile recess 34 against the action of a spring 37.
- the pin 36 is mounted coaxially to the piston rod 11 in the stator 7 and has an e.g. hexagonal profile recess 38, into which an Allen key can be inserted. With the help of the Allen key, the pin 36 can be axially displaced against the action of the spring 37 until its profile end 35 engages in the profile recess 34 of the piston rod 11. Then, by turning the Allen key, the piston rod 11 can also be rotated with its threaded end 24 in the propeller shaft 12, which changes the relative position of the piston 21 in the cylinder housing 9. This allows the pitch range of the propeller blades to be adjusted.
- the pin 23 is surrounded by a sensor housing 39 which carries an induction winding 40.
- the sensor housing 39 and the induction winding 40 are surrounded without contact by an axial flange 41 adjoining the end of the piston rod 11 and together with this form a measuring system for the relative displacement of the piston 21 in the cylinder housing 9 or for the respective position of the propeller blades.
- the induction winding 40 is connected via the measuring line 19 to a display device in the boat.
- the measuring line 19 is sealed by an opening 42 out of the stator 7 in the control sword 4 and on.
- the unit shown in Figure 2 is independent dependent on the variable pitch propeller and can be coupled with variable pitch propellers of different types and sizes.

Abstract
