Definitions

  • the invention relates to a programmable electrical hearing aid, with microphone, receiver, amplifier and transmission part adjustable to different transmission characteristics, a control unit with memory, a receiver-transmitter part and with an external control unit with memory, programming device and a transmitter-receiver part, the receiver
  • the transmitter part of the hearing aid and the transmitter-receiver part of the external control device for wireless, bidirectional exchange of control signals have control logic.
  • a programmable electrical hearing aid of this type is known from EP-A-0 335 542. Its external control unit is used for the wireless transmission of control signals to a processor of the hearing aid, the remote control unit being equipped with a manual program control and with a logic block which forms an interface with a transmitter and encoder.
  • the hearing aid has a serial interface with control logic for connecting to the outside world and is intended for bidirectional transmission.
  • CH-A-670 349 also discloses a hearing aid with wireless remote-controlled device component control, the hearing aid having a coil which can receive inductive control signals generated by a separate control device. These are processed in control electronics to control signals, which ultimately device components, such as the volume control.
  • Another remotely controllable, programmable hearing aid is known from DE-C-36 42 828. That is due to the individual hearing damage of the hearing impaired known hearing aid adaptable by the hearing care professional can also be adapted by the hearing impaired to certain transmission functions.
  • the user of the hearing aid has the possibility, by means of an external control device and by remote control, to adapt his hearing aid to certain environmental situations, for example when the user comes from a quiet environment into a noisy environment or vice versa.
  • parameters for, for example, four different environmental situations are stored in the external control device and the user can select the stored program which appears to him to be the most favorable for the respective environment by pressing program buttons on the control device.
  • the parameters corresponding to this program and stored in the control device are then transmitted to the hearing aid via remote control.
  • modulating and demodulating the control signals from the transmitter of the control device to the receiver of the hearing device and by means of a control unit and an audio processor in the hearing device the transmission characteristic of the hearing device can be changed to adapt to the changed environmental situation.
  • the first adaptation of the hearing aid to the hearing damage of the hearing impaired or an adaptation to a changing hearing impairment are only possible with great effort with the known, remotely controllable, programmable hearing aid, since between the determination of the measured variables for hearing damage and the coordination as well as adaptation of the storage locations to be stored There are no direct coupling parameters for the transmission characteristics with the hearing aid to be arranged on the hearing-impaired person's ear.
  • the known, contactless and programmable hearing aid for example, by electromagnetic transmission, only data transmission from the programming device of the external control device to the hearing aid is possible. As a result, neither identification of the hearing aid nor direct control of the transmitted data and control signals is possible.
  • a hearing aid in which the analog sound signal coming from the microphone is converted into a digital signal after passing through a filter in an A / D converter and fed to a discrete signal processing circuit whose transmission function is carried out parameters stored in an electrically programmable read-only memory (EPROM) can be controlled by means of a processor for adaptation to the hearing damage.
  • the parameters of the computer program are read in via a memory multiplexer, the parameters of the computer program being the measured variables of an audiometrically determined audiogram.
  • the audiogram is transferred directly from the audiometer to the memory of the computer via the memory multiplexer.
  • a line connection to the hearing aid and a line connection to the hearing aid is required for parameter transmission.
  • the electroacoustic properties of a hearing aid are determined by the properties of the transducers (microphone, receiver), their sound channels and by the signal processing (amplifier, filter).
  • the signal processing is influenced in a suitable manner by actuating and storage elements. This requires that all information about the hearing aid (manufacturer's electro-acoustic properties, device type, etc.) is available correctly and reliably.
  • the aim of the invention is therefore to propose a hearing aid of the type mentioned at the outset which is programmable without a feed line and line connection and in which interference-free and secure transmission between a programming unit and the hearing aid is possible even without a galvanic coupling.
  • Another object of the invention is an interference-free, secure and contact-free transmission of identification codes, address codes, command codes, data words and codes for data backup to and from the hearing aid.
  • this is achieved in a hearing device of the type mentioned at the outset in that the receiver-transmitter part of the hearing device and the transmitter-receiver part of the external control device are actuated by switching means that can be actuated by the control logic to determine the direction of transmission upon transmission or reception are switchable and that the receiver-transmitter part of the hearing aid and the transmitter-receiver part of the external control device each have a coil for transmitting the control signals.
  • the coils for transmitting the control signals are arranged in a spatial association of the control device with the hearing device, but at a distance.
  • bidirectional data transmission from and to the hearing aid is advantageously achieved by arranging a suitable pair of coils spatially close to one another and in a facing position (maximum flow).
  • the coil of the external control device is galvanically connected to a programming device or a programming device or to a computer (PC) containing the program.
  • This coil can be switched both as a transmitter coil and as a receiver coil.
  • the second coil is integrated in the hearing aid and can also be switched as a transmitting or receiving coil.
  • the coil of the external control device is attached close to the head and in the area of the hearing aid of the hearing impaired person, so that the acoustics are influenced as little as possible.
  • the transmitter and receiver part (the coil) of the external control device can be attached to a bracket arranged on the head of the hearing device wearer, with an assignment to the transmitter and receiver part (the coil) of the hearing device worn on or in the ear being provided at a distance.
  • the transmitter and receiver part i.e. the coil of the external control device grasp the ear provided with the hearing aid as a loop, in particular an induction loop, and are held by the ear at a distance from the transmitter and receiver part of the hearing device.
  • the purely physical transmission of the control signals takes place in particular via the magnetic component of the electromagnetic coil field.
  • the spatial proximity of the coils of the external control device or of the hearing aid is of particular advantage during the programming process.
  • the coil of the hearing aid with a downstream amplifier can be designed to be insensitive as a reception coil. This results in increased security against sources of interference and a space-saving arrangement in the hearing aid.
  • the sensitivity of the coil of the control device as the receiver coil can be selected such that the power requirement of the coil of the hearing device as the transmitter coil is low with reasonable interference immunity and is within the range of the energy consumption values that are useful for hearing aids.
  • the voltage Up required to program an electrically erasable and programmable read-only memory (EEPROM) of the hearing device is generated in the coil of the hearing device, with the transmission control signals from the coil to the external control device Coil of the hearing aid, the magnetic field of the coil of the hearing aid is increased such that the voltage Up occurs after rectification and smoothing.

  • the programming device 3 can be connected to a control part 7 by an interface 6.
  • This control part contains a transmitter and receiver part 8, which can be switched over accordingly by a control logic 9.
  • the programmable electrical hearing aid 2 (ITE or BTE device) shown in the block diagram essentially contains an amplifier and transmission part 12 (for example with a preamplifier, low, high and / or bandpass filters (frequency selective) between a microphone 10 and a receiver 11) Circuit), with volume control circuit, rectifier, modulator, power amplifier, etc.).

  • the hearing device 2 contains a receiver and transmitter part 14, which can be switched over to reception or transmission by means of control logic 15.
  • the hearing aid 2 also contains a battery 16 or a rechargeable battery as the electrical voltage source.
  • the receiver and transmitter part 14 of the hearing device 2 has a coil 17 and the transmitter and receiver part 8 of the external control device 1 also has a coil 18.
  • 19, 20 and 21, 22 denote amplifiers for the transmit or receive signal of the transmitter and receiver part 8 or of the receiver and transmitter part 14.
