Abstract

In the conventional steel-rubber embossing of a web of paper, a rough side and a smooth side are produced. The subject of the application is a multi-ply household or sanitary paper in which at least two plies are embossed independently of each other and joined to each other by knurling in such a way that the outer sides of the outer plies are smooth. The gripping appearance and the quality of the embossed design are improved and the voluminosity of the household or sanitary paper is increased. <IMAGE>

Description

ä.The invention relates to an embossed, multilayer household or hygiene paper, in particular toilet paper, handkerchief, kitchen towel or the like.

According to the prior art, multi-ply household and hygiene papers are known, in which the layers that are adhered to one another are embossed together at a single embossing station. Steel-rubber embossing is customary, in which a steel roller, the surface of which is structured in accordance with the desired embossed design, works against a rubber roller, and the one running between the rollers Embossed paper. The disadvantage here is that the embossed paper is only smooth on the steel cylinder side, while a rough surface is obtained on the rubber cylinder side. The handle appearance is therefore not optimal. In addition, the embossed design on the rubber cylinder side is only blurred.

The object of the invention is to provide a household or hygienic paper of the type mentioned at the outset and a method and a system for its production in which the handle appearance of the paper and the quality of the embossed design are improved in an uncomplicated manner and the volume of the paper is increased.

This object is achieved in that at least some of the layers of the multi-layer household or hygiene paper are embossed independently of one another or in multiple layers, with formation of a rough and a smooth side, and the independently embossed layers are knurled in such a way in a flush manner System are interconnected so that the outer sides of the outer layers are smooth.

The volume of the multilayer product is increased by the independent embossing of the individual layers of household or hygiene paper. The individual layers can be brought together with the rough and smooth sides obtained by the embossing in such a way that the outer sides of the outer layers are smooth. This gives the handle impression of the paper improved. The independent embossing of the individual layers makes it possible to improve the quality of the embossed design, since the design does not push through from layer to layer. It is also possible to combine different designs with one another, for example in the form that there is a decorative design on one side and a background design on the other side of the household or hygiene paper. The independent embossing of the layers finally opens up a wide range of variations with regard to the embossed material. The connection of the layers by knurling is preferred in terms of production technology.

Before or during the connection of the layers by knurling, an adhesive can be placed between the layers, in particular sprayed on. The connection by knurling is thereby supported and the generation of mechanical and chemical position keeping is combined effectively.

Preferred embodiments for two to four-ply household or hygiene papers are characterized in claims 2 to 7. A two-ply household or hygienic paper has individually embossed layers that are in contact with each other on their rough sides. With a three-ply household or hygiene paper, there is the option of embossing two of its layers as a double ply and the third - regardless of this as a single ply. The double layer and the single layer are brought together with their rough side inwards. Alternatively, all three layers of a three-ply household or hygiene paper can be embossed individually. In the case of four-ply hygienic paper, two pairs of plies can be used independently of one another embossed in two layers and brought into contact with their rough sides on the inside. But there is also the possibility of embossing only two of his layers together, and the other two layers independently, and last but not least, embossing all four layers individually. The more layers are individually embossed, the higher - at the price of a higher outlay on equipment - the volume of the hygiene paper obtained.

The material of the independently embossed layers of household or hygiene paper can be the same, but also different. For example, you can combine a harder surface or core material with a soft outer material. It is also possible to combine material, in particular tissue, with different strengths and physical properties (fleece, fabric).

The embossing pattern of the independently embossed layers can also be the same or different. With excellent embossing quality, you have a wide range of variations in the design.

When the individual layers of household or hygiene paper are embossed independently, they can experience a different electrostatic charge. In order to achieve good layer adhesion when bringing them together, it is advisable to discharge the layers electrostatically immediately before they are brought into contact. A plant for the production of the invention For this purpose, household or hygiene paper contains, on the path of the paper webs behind the embossing stations, an electrostatic discharge station, which is preferably passed through together, and a knurling station arranged downstream of it for producing the layer adhesion by knurling.

The paper web passes through an embossing station in which a steel roller 12 and a rubber roller 14 work against one another. The rollers 12, 14 are arranged with a parallel axis, so that their lateral surfaces touch or are spaced apart by less than the thickness of the paper web. The steel roller 12 has on the outer jacket a structure corresponding to the desired embossed design, e.g. B. in the form of knobs 16. The paper web 10 passes through the gusset of the counter-rotating rollers 12, 14, the knobs 16 pressing into their surface, while the rubber roller 14 serves as a soft, elastic abutment. The paper web 10 is embossed so that H. the embossed design is visible on both sides. The side 18 embossed by the steel roller 12 is smooth, while the side 20 acted upon by the rubber roller 14 is rough.

The system contains two embossing stations, each with an embossing steel roller 12 and a rubber roller 14 serving as an abutment. Two paper webs 10, in particular made of tissue, pass through the embossing stations and are brought together by suitable deflection on rollers 22 in such a way that their rough sides embossed by the rubber rollers 14 20 face each other. Before the paper webs 10 come into contact with one another on a further roller 24, they pass through an electrostatic unloading station 26. The unloading process taking place here prevents different electrostatic charging of the paper webs 10 in the embossing stations from affecting the layer adhesion of the household or sanitary paper.

The connection of the paper webs 10 takes place according to FIG. 2 by knurling at a knurling station 28. Shown in detail in FIG. 4, the knurling station 28 contains a plurality of knurling rolls 30 arranged on the same axis, which rotate in opposite directions to a support roll arranged directly adjacent with a parallel axis and engage in the paper webs 10 passing therebetween in order to interlock and matt them.

Die Außenseiten 18 des Haushalts- oder Hygienepapiers sind glatt.4 shows the two-ply hygienic paper obtained with the rough sides 20 of the paper webs 10 facing one another. The outer sides 18 of the household or hygienic paper are smooth.

Die glatten Seiten 18 der Lagen 38, 40 weisen nach außen.5 shows a three-ply household or hygiene paper. Two of its layers 38 are stamped together, while the third layer is stamped individually. The production of household or hygiene paper can therefore take place on the system illustrated in FIG. 2 with two embossing stations, one of which is run through with a double layer of paper webs 10 and the other with a single layer. The layers 38, 40 are brought together with the rough side 20 obtained by the rubber embossing inwards and permanently connected to each other. The smooth sides 18 the layers 38, 40 face outwards.

Fig. 6 shows a three-ply hygienic paper in which all three layers, 42, 44, 46 are embossed individually. A system with three stamping stations is required for this. Two of the layers 44, 46 are in contact with their rough sides 20, and the third layer 42 is applied to the other two layers 44, 46 with its smooth side 20 outwards.

Fig. 7 shows a four-ply household or hygiene paper, in which two double-layers 48, 50 are each individually embossed and with their rough side 20 brought into contact with the inside. Such household or hygiene paper can be produced in a system with two embossing stations according to FIG. 2. Both stamping stations are run through double-layer paper webs.

The four-ply hygienic paper shown in FIG. 8 has an embossed double layer 52 and two individually embossed layers 54, 56. The layers can be brought into contact with one another in a variety of ways. In the exemplary embodiment shown, the double layer 52 is on the outside. However, it is also possible for the double layer to form a core between the individual layers 54, 56 (not shown). The arrangement is in any case such that on the outside of the Household or hygienic paper come to lie on steel sheets with 12 embossed smooth paper sides. Production takes place in a system with three embossing stations.
