Abstract

The invention relates to the shaping of profiles (1), which are pressed in moulds from a mass of wood particles and the like, mixed with a binding agent, in the manner of the process described in EP-A-0,086,899. To increase the bending and warping strength of such profiles (1) and to make the profiles usable for forming frames, e.g. door frames, the invention proposes to form on one broad side of the profile (1) a relatively wide strip-shaped step (2) and on the opposite broad side of the profile (1) a plurality of continuous groove-shaped recesses (3). The webs (4) situated between or next to the recesses (3) are each constructed narrower in their width than the step (2), it being preferred for the width of the step (2) to be approximately equal to the sum of the widths of the webs (4). <IMAGE>

Description

The invention relates to a profile made of compression-molded, small vegetable components mixed with binders, in particular small wooden parts, with a cross-section that increases the bending stiffness, with longitudinally running channel-shaped depressions and / or strip-shaped elevations being arranged on opposite sides of the profile.

Profiles of this type are known from EP-A-0 086 899 or DE-A 30 35 701. They are pressed to a finite length in a press mold in which vertically and horizontally movable press rams form the press space between them. These rams are moved in pairs one after the other and at different times until they have reached their final position enclosing the profile.

In the prior art mentioned, the main aim is to produce pallet foot bars or rigid beams in the form of an I, U, Z, L profile and the like.

From DE-GM 19 43 588 a molded wood chipboard is known which have formed on its narrow edges in the manner of tongue and groove, continuous depressions and elevations.

Building on the teaching mentioned at the outset, the invention sets itself the task of further developing the cross-sectional shape of such profiles in order to develop rigid and large load-bearing profiles of other cross-section, which not only as a beam, but especially as a component, for example to form a frame or the like, can be used.

The invention consists in that a raised, broad strip-shaped step is provided on one broad side of the profile and several channel-shaped depressions on the other broad side of the profile, the webs located between the recesses each having a smaller width than the strip-shaped step.

A preferred application example for such profiles is the formation of frames, in particular door frames or frames, in which the raised step serves as a stop for the door leaf. The trough-shaped depressions located on the back of the profile have the function on the one hand of compensating for the stresses introduced into the profile during compression molding and of avoiding deformation, for example twisting or bending, of the profile due to these stresses. For this reason, the invention teaches in a preferred embodiment that the width of the strip-shaped step is approximately the same size as the sum of the widths of the webs.

On the other hand, with the help of the channel-shaped depressions, a composite effect with neighboring objects can be brought about, for example by allowing flow-like or pour-like masses to engage in these channel-shaped depressions.

However, the invention is in no way limited to the formation of profiles for frames or the like. On the basis of the idea according to the invention of forming shapes which compensate for their effect on opposite sides of the profile, a large number of profiles of any design can be used for the most varied of them Develop applications, such as railing bars and rails, lids, boxes and the like.

Further details of the invention emerge from the subclaims. According to this, it is provided, for example, that the webs located between or next to the channel-shaped depressions and the strip-shaped step have a greater compression in their peripheral layers than the central profile regions. How one can achieve such densifications can be found in the aforementioned EP-A-0 086 899.

The individual groove-like depressions should have a cross-section which tapers from the outside inwards, in particular trapezoidal or fillet-shaped. This measure is useful not only for easy demoulding of the pressing tools; it also serves to form notch-sensitive areas of the profile.

Finally, the invention provides that the profile has pressed-in chambers, or recessed surfaces for receiving fittings, locks or the like. These chambers or recessed surfaces are also formed in the same operation as the formation of the profile with the aid of appropriately designed projections on the pressing tools. This measure has the advantage that the walls of such chambers or the set-back surfaces have a high-strength surface and are therefore particularly suitable for receiving screws or similar connecting means. These chambers or recessed surfaces can have any shape.

In the exemplary embodiment in FIG. 1, the cross section of a profile (1) according to the invention is shown, which has on one side a raised, strip-shaped step (2) arranged continuously in the longitudinal direction of the profile. On the opposite side, the profile (1) in the exemplary embodiment has a plurality of channel-shaped depressions (3) which are arranged parallel to one another and also extend continuously in the longitudinal direction of the profile. The flanks of the recesses (3) are designed such that they form a cross section of the recess (3) that tapers from the outside inwards. In the example in FIG. 1, trapezoidal cross sections of the depressions (3) are shown, the surfaces of which merge into one another in a rounded manner. But you can also vaulted, i.e. form a fillet-shaped cross-section of the depressions (3).

Such profiles (1) are produced in molds with the aid of opposing press rams which form a cavity between them for filling in a mixture of binders and small plant parts, in particular small wooden parts. By progressively moving these stamps in pairs and in pairs offset from one another, they compact the filled mixture until the stamps envelop the finished profile (1) in the final press position.

Due to the repeated and section-wise pressing of the mixture of small parts, zones of greater compaction are formed on the peripheral layers (5) of the step (2) or the webs (4) located between the groove-shaped depressions (3), which smooth and smooth the surface of the profile make invulnerable.

In the example in FIG. 1, the dash-dotted lines (6) also indicate how the profile (1) shown in cross section can be joined to form a frame, in particular a door frame or frame. The joining technique is the same as for frame construction using natural wood. Step (2) then acts as a door stop, which is particularly stable and insensitive to damage due to its shaping created by the press.

If the profile according to FIG. 1 were to be formed only on one side with step (2) and the opposite side was made smooth, then the pressing process would result in tensions in the structure, which would lead to a change in shape of the profile, in particular to twisting and bending. However, if the trough-shaped depressions (3) with the webs (4) between them are formed at the same time as the step (2), a compensation of the stresses is created, with the result that profiles produced in this way retain their original shape even under extreme weather conditions and changes to keep.

You can also use these trough-shaped depressions (3), the number of which can be changed as desired depending on the type of use of the profile (1), by enveloping the profiles (1) with a liquid or paste-like mass and thus creating a shear-resistant bond with the environment .

It is obvious that profiles (1) according to the invention can have a different cross-sectional configuration, different from the example in FIG. 1, depending on the intended use, it should always be ensured that the elevations on one side of the profile have at least one, preferably several, depressions on the other side.

Then the raised profile parts (2) and (4) are specially dimensioned. It has proven to be very advantageous in practice if the width (a) of the strip-shaped step (2) is the same size as the sum of the widths (b) of the webs (4). Accordingly, the dimensions of the trough-shaped depressions (3) result, the distances between which need not be the same size, but can also be varied in accordance with the loads.

The partial cross section of FIG. 3, in conjunction with the top view in FIG. 4, shows the possibility of providing chambers (7) and / or recessed surfaces (8) in profile (1) that work in the same operation as step (2) and the channel-shaped depressions (3) can be produced. These chambers (7) are used to hold fittings, for example locks. The set back surface (8) is provided in this embodiment for receiving a flange of the fitting so that the outer surface of the flange comes to lie flush with the side surface (9) of the profile (1).
The procedure for producing the profile according to the invention is as follows:

The profile (1) is produced in a position rotated by 90 degrees with respect to FIG. 1, the side surface (9) and the step (2) of the profile (1) being at the bottom, for example. In the finished press end position of the profile (1), it is encased by two pairs of press rams. The two transverse press rams form the side surfaces (10) of the profile (1). The lower of the vertically movable ram forms the side surfaces (9 and 12) and the upper of this pair of ram forms the side surface (11) of the profile (1). This position has proven itself because the filling process in the space between the ram is then facilitated in free fall. In one embodiment, the end faces of the vertically movable press rams have the same image as the side faces (9, 12 or 11) facing them. The upper press ram has been removed for the purpose of filling the press space. After the press chamber has been filled, the vertically movable press rams are first moved against one another, while the lateral press rams forming the side surfaces (10) remain in their position. This causes the mixture of small parts to be pre-pressed. After the first vertical pre-press cycle, it is advisable to carry out the first horizontal pre-press cycle and then, depending on the size of the profile, to connect further sub-press cycles until the press rams have reached a position enveloping the profile.

If chambers (7), set-back surfaces (8) or the like are to be introduced into the profile (1) during compression molding, it is advisable to provide the press rams with corresponding press ram attachments at the assigned points, so that the shape of the profile and the chambers (7) or recessed surfaces (8) can be done in one operation.
