Description

The present invention relates to a process for producing a wood-metal composite profile, as well as the composite profile obtained by implementing the process.

Although not exclusively, the complex profile according to the invention is particularly intended for the field of carpentry in general, in particular for the production of door frames, windows, and the like.

There is already known, for example from documents EP-A-0 053 104 and EP-A-0 159 458, a method for obtaining wood-metal composite profiles. Such a method essentially consists in keeping apart, in parallel to each other, a wooden profile and a metal profile, for example aluminum, and injecting between them a curable adhesive binder. Composite profiles are then obtained from which, after cutting operations, window frames or the like are produced, in particular by means of assembly systems.

In practice, the implementation of such a method raises difficulties.

First of all, it is necessary to provide complex mechanical devices to hold the profiles of wood and metal relative to one another and to delimit transversely the space in which said adhesive binder is injected. This difficulty is increased by the fact that no mechanical connection - other than said adhesive binder - must remain between said profiles after they have been joined, in particular in order to avoid thermal bridges between them. If such a bond remained, condensation phenomena would occur on the metal profile, rapidly leading to degradation of the wooden profile by the appearance of mold.

In addition, other difficulties are due to the difference in nature (wood and metal) of the profiles to be assembled. Thus, during hardening of the adhesive binder, the stresses appearing at the level of the connections between the binder and the two profiles are different, so that the composite profile obtained has geometric deformations and that it is not strictly rectilinear. To straighten the composite profile, it is then necessary to separate the metal profile of the binder by longitudinal sliding, which allows the profile, thanks to its elasticity characteristics, to return spontaneously to its initial state. However, such an intervention considerably reduces the mechanical characteristics of the composite profile, since the metal profile is free to slide relative to the wooden profile, thanks to guides cooperating with the binder. Thus, the wood and metal profiles, forming the composite profile, are held in position, when assembling to another composite profile, only by their bevelled end faces which come to bear against those of said other complex profile .

The object of the present invention is to overcome these drawbacks, and relates to a method for producing a complex profile by which the geometric and mechanical characteristics of the profile obtained are respected, while laterally delimiting, at least in part, the space in which said curable adhesive binder is introduced.

- dans l'un desdits profilés, on réalise un premier élément de relief longitudinal, tel qu'une rainure ou une nervure ;
- dans l'autre desdits profilés, on prévoit une aile longitudinale susceptible de recouvrir ledit espace ;
To this end, according to the invention, the method for producing a wood-metal composite profile, according to which a metal profile and a wood profile are arranged parallel to each other, keeping them apart and fills the space separating said metal and wood profiles with a curable adhesive binder, is remarkable in that:
- In one of said sections, a first longitudinal relief element is produced, such as a groove or a rib;
- In the other of said sections, there is provided a longitudinal wing capable of covering said space;
- Said longitudinal wing comprises at its free edge a second element of longitudinal relief, such as a rib or a groove, capable of cooperating with said first element of longitudinal relief, so as to join said metal and wood profiles by interlocking said first and second relief elements; and
- After hardening of said adhesive binder in said space, said wing that connects said profiles is removed by machining.

Thus, thanks to the method of the invention, a temporary connection is created over the entire length of the profiles to be assembled, which partially closes said space and which is kept until the binder introduced in this space is completely hardened, so that the two profiles remain strictly straight. After which, we remove the temporary connection made by means of the longitudinal wing to then obtain a composite profile without thermal bridge, whose mechanical and geometric characteristics are remarkable.

It will be noted that document DE-A-2 632 375 describes a process for producing a profile formed by the association of two metal profiles linked by a curable adhesive binder, in which said profiles are temporarily joined by two tear-away wings, carried by one of the profiles and snap onto the other of said profiles by a relative movement transverse to the latter. Such a known method requires that the two profiles be hard and elastic and could not be used with a wooden profile, the constituent material, by nature, is soft and inelastic.

Advantageously, two longitudinal wings are provided which are spaced from one another, laterally delimiting the space into which said curable adhesive binder is introduced, each wing having at its free edge a second element of longitudinal relief, capable of cooperating with a such first element. Thus, better retention of the profiles to be assembled is obtained and, moreover, the space to be filled with the curable adhesive binder is better defined.

First and second relief elements which cooperate can be arranged laterally with respect to said sections. They can also: be arranged in the thickness of these. When two longitudinal wings are provided, it is advantageous that a pair of cooperating relief elements is arranged laterally and that the other is arranged in the thickness of said sections. Thus, it is possible to assemble the profiles by simple transverse interlocking, after also transverse approximation.

According to another characteristic, means are provided for anchoring the adhesive binder to each of said sections. In a preferred embodiment, said means for anchoring said wooden profile can be defined by longitudinal grooves formed in said profile, and, said means for anchoring said metal profile can be defined by longitudinal ribs projecting from profiled audit.

Furthermore, the machining operation of the longitudinal flange, after hardening of the adhesive binder, can be carried out by milling. In this way, since the temporary link or links are eliminated, a complex profile is obtained without thermal bridge.

A polymerizable synthetic resin can be used as adhesive binder, in particular in the case where the connection between the profiles to be assembled is only carried out by a wing longitudinal. The resin is then introduced by gravity through the open face of the cavity, opposite to said wing. On the other hand, in the case where the cavity is determined by the opposite faces of the profiles and by the two longitudinal wings, it is possible to use an expandable synthetic material introduced by injection, which makes it possible to fill the smallest interstices of the cavity.

The figures of the appended drawing will make it clear how the invention can be implemented. In these figures, identical references designate similar elements.
  • Figure 1 is a cross section of two profiles respectively of wood and metal assembled by an adhesive binder, before the process step consisting in the elimination of the longitudinal wing joining the two profiles and allowing to obtain the composite profile .
  • Figure 2 is a view similar to the previous in which the two profiles to be joined are joined by two longitudinal wings.
  • Figure 3 shows, in cross section, an alternative embodiment of the two longitudinal wings joining the two sections to be assembled.
  • Figure 4 is a cross section of the composite profile obtained after elimination of the longitudinal flange or wings and hardening of said ahdĂ©sif binder.
  • FIG. 5 illustrates an alternative embodiment.
  • Figure 6 shows partially in cross section a window made from the composite profiles obtained.

Sur ces figures, on a illustré la réalisation selon l'invention d'un profilé composite constitué d'un profilé de bois 1 et d'un profilé de métal 2, par exemple en aluminium, solidarisés par l'intermédiaire d'un liant adhésif durcissable 3.In these figures, the embodiment according to the invention has been illustrated of a composite section consisting of a wooden section 1 and a metal section 2, for example made of aluminum, joined together by means of an adhesive binder curable 3.

In the embodiment of Figure 1, the longitudinal face 4 of the metal profile 2, which is arranged opposite the longitudinal face 5 of the wooden profile 1, is extended by a lateral and longitudinal wing 6 extending over the entire length of the profile 2, perpendicular to said face 4. The longitudinal flange 6 ends in a bent edge 7 forming a rib, which is engaged by fitting or sliding in a corresponding groove 8 formed in the wooden profile 1. We understand therefore that the two sections 1 and 2 are held in position over their entire length by the rib 7-groove 8 connection, defining, when they are thus joined together, a cavity 9 delimited by the longitudinal and opposite faces 4 and 5, respectively of the metal profile 2 and of the wooden profile 1, and through the longitudinal flange 6. The adhesive binder 3 is then introduced into the cavity 9, such that, in this embodiment, a polymeric synthetic resin isable, so as to securely join the two profiles 1 and 2. Advantageously, to improve the attachment of the resin on the faces 4 and 5 of the profiles, other longitudinal ribs are provided on the face 4 of the metal profile 2 10, arranged projecting and whose section has for example an L shape, and, on the face 5 of the wooden profile 1 of the inclined longitudinal grooves 11. One could of course envisage a reverse arrangement of the grooves and the ribs. In addition, sealing catches 12 can also be force-fitted into the grooves 11, by projecting therefrom. A deformation of the longitudinal ribs 10, for example by notching, could also be carried out.

Thus, after the resin 3 has hardened, the two sections 1 and 2 are firmly joined to each other, the adhesion between the two sections being maximum.

Furthermore, thanks to the rib 7-groove 8 connection, the two sections 1 and 2, during the hardening of the resin, remain strictly in position, being rectilinear and parallel with respect to each other.

Then, after polymerization of the resin 3, the longitudinal wing 6 is eliminated by a cutter 14 partially shown in FIG. 1, and which removes the hatched zone 15 from the wing 6. This is obtained, thanks to the process of the invention, a composite section 16, shown in Figure 4, without thermal bridge, which avoids the phenomena of condensation and provide good thermal insulation. Furthermore, the mechanical characteristics, in particular of rigidity and geometry, in particular of linearity, of the composite profile 16 are respected.

In the variant implementation illustrated in FIG. 2, the face 4 of the metal profile 2 extends towards the profile 1 by two identical and parallel lateral wings 6A and 6B, carried by its two longitudinal edges. In each of these wings is formed a longitudinal groove 6C delimited by a longitudinal shoulder 6D and by an inclined end flange 6E. Thus, in these grooves 6C can be accommodated, by longitudinal sliding, corresponding ribs 17, cut in the wooden profile 1. In this variant, two temporary connections are made over the entire length of the profiles accentuating the holding in position of the two profiles. Furthermore, the cavity 9 is then delimited by the faces 4 and 5 of the sections 2 and 1 respectively and by the two longitudinal wings 6A and 6B.

Since the cavity is closed, an expandable synthetic material 3 can then be used as an adhesive binder which is injected into the cavity. The material 3, during its expansion, tends to press the longitudinal ribs 17 of the wooden profile 1 against the inclined edges 6E of the metal profile 2, which provides, with the fastening means 10, 11 and 12 similar to those of Figure 1, a total immobilization of the profiles 1 and 2 by the material 3. Again, during the expansion of the synthetic material, the two profiles remain rectilinear by the aforementioned connections. Then, by means of the cutter 14, the hatched zones 15 of the longitudinal wings 6A and 6B are eliminated in order to obtain the composite section 16 shown in FIG. 4.

In another variant of implementation, illustrated in FIG. 3, the longitudinal wings 6A and 6B extend the face 5 of the wooden profile 1 and extend over its entire length, perpendicular to the face 5.

A longitudinal groove 6F is then provided in each of the wings. Thus, the longitudinal edges 4A, forming a rib, of the face 4 of said profile 2 engage, by sliding, in the grooves 6F of the wings. Therefore, the two profiles are properly held together. Then injected into the cavity 9, delimited by the faces 4 and 5 of the profiles and by the longitudinal wings 6A and 6B, the synthetic material 3, after which, we proceed to the elimination of the wings 6A and 6B by means of the cutter 14.

Here again, a strictly straight composite profile 16 is obtained without thermal bridge.

In the embodiments of FIGS. 2 and 3, the cooperating grooves and ribs of the two sections 1 and 2 are all lateral, so that said sections can only be joined to one another by longitudinal sliding. On the other hand, in FIG. 5, an embodiment is shown in which a pair of cooperating rib and groove is lateral, while the other pair is located in the thickness of said sections. Thus, it is possible to assemble said sections by transverse approximation, then interlocking. As can be seen, the lateral cooperating torque is close to that bearing the references 17.6C in FIG. 2.

Ainsi, après avoir été rapprochés l'un de l'autre transversalement, lesdits profilés 1 et 2 peuvent être assemblés par un mouvement relatif de la droite vers la gauche de la figure 5.In the embodiment of Figure 5, there is provided a recess 30 in the face 5 of the profile 1; this recess has a side wall forming a projection 31, in the direction of the rib 17. In addition, a wing 6 has a folding 6G at 90 °, extended by a wing 6H, such that a groove 32 is formed between the wings 6G and 6H, groove the profile of which corresponds to that of the projection 31. Thus, after having been brought together from one another transversely, said profiles 1 and 2 can be assembled by a relative movement from the right to the left of the figure 5.

A preferred application of the composite sections 16, obtained from the process of the invention, in the field of carpentry, is illustrated in FIG. 6. For this, a window 20 has been shown partially in cross section, the fixed part or frame 21 and the movable or opening part 22 are made from composite profiles.

The composite profile 16A of the opening 22 supports the insulating glazing 23 and its wooden profile 1A is connected by a hinge 24 to the wooden profile 1B of the composite profile 16B constituting the frame 21 of the window 20. The perfect is also noted adhesion between the wooden and metal profiles of each profile 16A and 16B by means of the insulating binder 3.
