Definitions
- the present invention relates to a device for filling folded film bags and, in particular, to a device for filling folded film bags which are provided with a filling spout according to the preamble of claim 1.
- a device according to the preamble which, however, is not intended for processing plastic bags with a filling spout, has become known from DE-OS 34 41 947.
- This known device is used to open the film bag before the filling process and has a pair of pliers that hold the bag at its two side seams.
- Parallel to the upper edge of the bag are two jaws that can be moved towards each other and consist of a rigid strip and a thick, flexible, soft rubber support attached to it.
- Each jaw has a pipe socket with which it can be connected to a vacuum pump.
- the jaws have an opening penetrating the bar and the support, which is connected to the pipe socket and forms a suction opening.
- To open the bag the jaws are first moved towards each other and clamp the bag firmly.
- the sides of the bag are then held under vacuum on the jaws and the jaws move apart, which opens the bag.
- a gas injection nozzle is inserted into the bag, after which the jaws close again and seal the bag.
- the bag is bulged out with a gas surge and then filled with a liquid and sealed in a subsequent filling process.
- the present invention is therefore based on the object of providing a device of the type mentioned at the outset which allows reliable opening and filling of folded foil bags and in which a reliable sealing of the bag from the environment is achieved during the filling process.
- the device according to the invention uses a principle which is completely new compared to the prior art for opening and filling foil bags. While soft rubber sealing strips are used in the cited prior art, into which bores are machined which are subjected to negative pressure, two separately movable suction devices are used according to the present invention, in which high suction forces can be achieved with relatively low pressure forces.
- a big problem with the Opening the bag consists in that a certain contact pressure of the suction devices on the bag surface is required in order to achieve a sealing effect which enables a sufficient vacuum to be built up between the suction device and the bag, with which the bag is held firmly. If the contact pressure to generate the negative pressure is too high, the opening of the bag and the inflow of air into the filling opening are made more difficult. However, if the inflow of air into the bag is made significantly more difficult or prevented, the forces required to pull the film sections apart greatly increase, so that it becomes very difficult to open the bag reliably.
- the separately movable suction devices since they do not also serve as seals of the feed tube, can be designed with a much larger clearance than in the prior art and can therefore apply the force concentrated on the corresponding area of the bag.
- the design of the opening devices as suction cups ensures that a high negative pressure between the suction cup and bag film can be achieved even with a low contact pressure. As a result, the force required to open the bag in relation to the ambient pressure is relatively low, since the air can flow into the filling opening without too great a hindrance during the filling process.
- the sealing devices can be better designed so that an absolutely reliable seal between the feed tube and the bag is achieved. It proves to be particularly advantageous for the operation of the device that the sealing devices themselves have recesses that receive the opening devices. The opening devices therefore do not need to be removed from the bag when the sealing devices are brought into this position. This not only facilitates the handling of the bag within the device, it also considerably speeds up the filling process, since the time between opening the bag and closing the sealing devices can be reduced to a minimum in this way.
- the high sealing effect that can be achieved with the separate sealing device allows the film bag to be filled directly without bulging it beforehand with a gas surge.
- the requirements for the seal between the feed tube and the bag are relatively low, since an escape of the gas, e.g. Air or nitrogen, generally does not interfere with the operational safety of the system. A certain loss of the amount of air or nitrogen supplied is completely neutral to the environment.
- filling liquids e.g. Detergents or the like. Much higher demands are to be placed on the seal, which can be reliably met by the design according to the invention.
- the suction bells are designed as spherically shaped rubber elements, for example as spherical sections.
- the word rubber element in this case means that apart from natural rubber, other elastic materials can of course also be used for the production of these suction cups.
- the advantage of the suction cups designed in this way is that a high seal in the generation of the negative pressure within the suction cup is achieved with only a small contact pressure. This further facilitates the inflow of air when the film bag is opened.
- the rubber elements are preferably held by suction heads, which are preferably attached to a movably mounted tube, with which the suction heads can be moved towards and away from the film bag.
- the tube preferably serves at the same time to connect the suction cups and the suction head to a vacuum source.
- the tube to which the suction heads are attached is preferably passed through an opening in the sealing devices.
- the sealing devices have a sealing edge which is arranged above the suction device. This sealing edge provides the seal with respect to the feed pipe and, with this design, can be designed regardless of the arrangement of the suction bells.
- the sealing devices and thus also the sealing edge are preferably made of metal, for example aluminum or brass. If necessary, only a thin sealing pad made of elastic material is placed on this metal.
- a relatively high contact pressure of the sealing devices By using the sealing edge on the one hand and using only a thin elastic layer, it is possible to achieve a relatively high contact pressure of the sealing devices on a small area. This creates a high sealing pressure, which causes the film to lie completely against the feed pipe. This ensures a secure seal around the entire circumference of the feed pipe, that is to say also at the parting plane between the two sealing devices.
- the device is provided with a sensor device which indicates whether a film bag is properly received by the device.
- This sensor device can e.g. be designed as a pressure sensor which measures the pressure in the feed tube of the suction bells and determines whether the vacuum was sufficient to pull the bags apart. If there is no bag in the device, the next filling process is only started when a new bag has been properly fed.
- a contact spring is provided on each sealing device, which is made of metal and which bears against the feed tube, which in this case is also made of metal, if there is no bag in the device.
- the feed tube which in this case is also made of metal.
- Fig. 1 shows a perspective view of a filling device according to an embodiment of the present invention, wherein for the sake of better drawing, essentially only half of the filling device is shown.
- the filling device shown is used to fill a film bag 1, as is indicated schematically in the drawing, which is provided with a filling spout 2.
- the filling spout 2 is located on a filling section 3 of the bag, which is offset from the rest of the bag surface.
- the bag is folded, i.e. with closed filler spout, inserted into the device and there, e.g. held by pairs of pliers (not shown) on its side edges.
- the device for filling the film bag has an opening device 10, which consists of two suction heads, namely a left (in Fig. 1) suction head 11 and a right suction head 11 '.
- the suction heads are connected to a tube 12 or 12 'and are held by this.
- the tubes 12, 12 ' are connected to a (not shown) vacuum source.
- the suction heads 11, 11 '(see also FIG. 6) have a cutout 13 on their front side facing the film bag, which is arranged parallel to the axis of the filler spout of the bag and has a substantially trapezoidal cross section, the longer side edge of the trapezoid being at the end of the suction head adjacent to the bag.
- the suction bell 14 In the undeformed state, the suction bell 14 has essentially the shape of a spherical section, but is adapted to the shape of the trapezoidal cutout 13 of the suction head by elastic deformation, as can be clearly seen in FIG. 6.
- the suction bell 14 has a central opening 15 which is connected to the tube 12 via a bore (not shown) in the suction head.
- the sealing strips 20, 20 ' which, like the suction heads 11, 11', are made of metal, e.g. Aluminum or brass.
- the sealing strips In its upper region, the sealing strips have a substantially rectangular cross section 24, against which downwards, i.e. in the direction of movement of the feed pipe explained later, a triangular cross section 23 connects. Below the rectangular cross section 24 there is a recess 21 in which the suction heads 11, 11 'can be received.
- the rectangular cross-sectional area of the sealing strips has two recesses, namely a first, upper and longer recess 25 and a lower, semi-cylindrical recess 26.
- the latter semi-cylindrical recess 26 has a radius that is slightly larger than the radius of the feed pipe 40.
- the sealing edge is formed, which the Seals the feed tube during filling.
- This sealing edge which is designated in its entirety by 28, and consists of the edge 27, on both sides of the semi-cylindrical recess 26 and the peripheral surface of the semi-cylindrical recess 26, effects the seal between the sealing strips and the feed pipe 40.
- the sealing edge 28 are provided with a thin elastic pad (not shown in the drawing), the function of which will be explained later.
- a feed tube or filler tube 40 is used to fill the bag, which is arranged centrally between the movable sealing strips and is positioned such that it is pushed downward into the filler spout 2 of the film bag 1 for filling.
- the feed tube has a conical extension 41 to facilitate insertion into the filler nozzle.
- this conical shoulder 41 can be moved relative to the filler pipe via a pin 42.
- the cone 41 thus forms with the feed pipe 40 a kind of valve through which the filling process can be controlled.
- the contact spring 50 in the sealing strips in the area of the upper recess 25, which is bent essentially in the shape of a hook, the short hook end 51 on the side of the recess 25 facing away from the film bag lies and the other end of the hook is arranged so that it projects beyond the semi-cylindrical recess 26 and on the other side of the semi-cylindrical recess with a straight piece 52 is in turn guided to the side of the sealing strip 21 facing away from the film bag.
- the contact spring is connected to a control device (also not shown) via a cable lug 55 and a fastening screw 56 via a (not shown) cable.
- the closed film bag with the closed filling spout 2 is located between the sealing strips 21 and the suction heads 11 and under the feed pipe 40.
- the film bag is held there, for example, by a pair of pliers.
- the filling process begins with the suction heads 11, 11 ', as can be seen in Fig. 3, moved towards the film bag 1.
- the sealing strips 21, 21 'do not change their position.
- the suction bells 14, which are made of elastic material attach to the foil bag. A vacuum is then generated between the suction bells 11, 11 'and the foil bag, and the suction heads are moved apart slightly again.
- the filling spout of the foil pouch literally springs open. Since the contact pressure of the suction cups, which rest with their peripheral edge on the film bag, is relatively low, the supply of air into the filler nozzle is absolutely necessary to remove the two film sides of the filler nozzle from one another, not disabled.
- Fig. 4 shows a top view of the suction heads with the filling spout of the foil bag located between them.
- Fig. 7 shows the cross section of the filler nozzle itself. The cross section is not exactly circular due to the acting forces, but rather can be described as consisting of two half ellipses, with an asymptotic approach of the film to the median plane of the film bag on the side edges results.
- the feed pipe 40 After opening, as shown in FIG. 5, the feed pipe 40 is pushed into the filler nozzle.
- the insertion of the filler spout is facilitated by the special design of the suction heads, the trapezoidal recess 13 of which is adapted to the cylinder circumference of the insertion tube 40.
- the sealing strips move towards one another and press the foil bag against the insertion tube.
- a relatively high contact pressure is required for complete sealing in order to obtain a perfect sealing of the film in the area of the asymptotic approach of the sleeve halves to the central plane of the film.
- the filler nozzle which tends to assume an approximate elliptical cross-section, must be brought into an exact circular-cylindrical cross-section, since, on the other hand, a complete seal is not possible.
- the sealing edge 28 is provided, which, due to the small area despite a relatively low contact pressure, generates a high contact pressure on the film, and thus causes an absolutely secure seal between the feed pipe and the film.
- the sealing effect can be increased by a thin elastic pad, which is made of plastic, for example.
- relatively high sealing forces must be applied, so that the use of a thick soft rubber pad, for example, is not possible here.
- the filling process begins, with the liquid to be filled being fed through the filling pipe.
- the film bag then bulges itself up due to the liquid that has been introduced. Since the sealing strips are offset downwards by the triangular cross section 23 from the film bag, the bulging of the bag is not impeded by the sealing strips.
- the contact springs 50 When the sealing strips are closed, the contact springs 50 rest on the metallic filler pipe 40. An electrical contact between the contact springs and the filling tube is prevented by the film of the film bag located between them. However, if there is no film bag in the device as a result of a malfunction, or if the film bag is torn when opened, direct electrical contact between the contact spring 50 and the filler tube 40 is brought about. This closes an electrical circuit which indicates to the control device that there is no foil bag in the device. The filling process is therefore interrupted, a possibly existing, defective film bag is ejected, and a new foil bag fed.

Abstract
Description

- Fig 7 eine Aufsicht auf die geöffnete Einfülltülle.
Fig. 7 zeigt den Querschnitt der Einfülltülle selbst.
