Description

The present invention relates to a support and guiding device for mechanical insertion members of the weft, in a weaving machine without shuttle.

This invention relates to the support, and to the longitudinal and lateral guidance, of mechanical members such as spears or ribbons, moved in an alternating movement and in opposite directions and introduced between the layers of warp yarns, with a first member of insertion driving the weft thread from one side of the weaving machine to the middle of the width of the fabric being formed, and a second insertion member taking up the weft thread in the middle of the width of the fabric to pull it up '' on the opposite side of the machine, each insertion member comprising at its end a clamp capable of gripping the weft thread to be inserted and cooperating with a mechanism for controlling the opening of this clamp situated towards the middle of the fabric, in the exchange zone, while means are provided for supporting and guiding the insertion members.

In this kind of weaving machine, as illustrated for example by French patent No. 2,529,591, the opening control of the pliers in the exchange zone located towards the middle of the fabric is ensured by a lever mechanism acting on the head of each insertion member, provided with the clamp. The insertion members are themselves supported by pads or guide and support plates, distributed over the entire width of the fabric. The known structure has the following main drawback: in the central exchange zone where a support plate collects the force of opening of the clamp exerted by the aforementioned lever, there is a pinching of the warp threads of the lower layer, with a serious risk of deterioration of these warp threads. We can also note, with this known embodiment, significant wear of certain parts of the machine, in particular wear of the insertion members such as ribbons in contact with the guide and support parts.

The present invention aims to eliminate these drawbacks, by providing an improved support and guide device for the insertion members, this device ensuring the reaction to the force of opening of the clamps by the control mechanism, in the middle zone. exchange, while avoiding damaging the warp threads, and also reducing the wear of certain mechanical parts.

To this end, the support and guide device according to the invention, for mechanical weft insertion members, comprises in the central exchange zone and for each insertion member at least one support and guide assembly , combining means for lateral and longitudinal guidance of the insertion members, at least one bearing surface situated under the heads of these insertion members in the advanced position, the bearing surface being substantially perpendicular to the direction of the force of opening of the clamp, and deflecting means ensuring the spacing of the warp threads of the lower ply, on either side of said bearing surface.

Depending on the size of the exchange zone concerned by the opening forces to be collected, there are provided for each insertion member one or more support and guide assemblies, as defined above. The force of opening of the clamps is entirely taken up by the bearing surface (s), while the warp threads, being laterally spaced from each bearing surface by the deflecting means, no longer risk being trapped at all between the insertion member and a support element.

In a preferred embodiment of the support and guide device according to the invention, each support and guide assembly is constituted by a part comprising at least one hook-shaped part ensuring the lateral guidance of the insertion member , and itself carrying the bearing surface for the head of this insertion member.

The bearing surface may belong to a plate, for example made of metal carbide, attached to the part comprising the hook-shaped part. The material of this insert insert facilitates the sliding of the insertion member, while avoiding wear.

Preferably, the deflecting means capable of spreading the warp threads consist of the hook-shaped part itself, which leads to a grouping of all the functions on the same piece, therefore to a particularly simple and economical embodiment, both in manufacturing and in assembly. However, the use of a separate element for the wire deflection function cannot be excluded, as a variant.

In the case of a plurality of support and guide assemblies as defined above, provision is advantageously made for the use of at least two parts, the respective hook-shaped parts of which are arranged in staggered rows, to ensure the guiding opposite edges of the insertion member, each of these parts carrying a bearing surface taking place under the head of this insertion member in the advanced position.

  • Figure 1 est une vue en coupe transversale, très schématique, du dispositif objet de l'invention, avec indication du mécanisme de commande d'ouverture des pinces et d'autres parties voisines de la machine à tisser ;
  • Figure 2 est une vue en perspective montrant, de manière plus détaillée, les moyens de support et de guidage des organes d'insertion de la trame ;
In any case, the invention will be better understood using the description which follows, with reference to the appended schematic drawing representing, by way of nonlimiting example, an embodiment of this support and guiding device for mechanical weft insertion members, in a weaving machine without shuttle :
  • Figure 1 is a very schematic cross-sectional view of the device which is the subject of the invention, with an indication of the mechanism for controlling the opening of the clamps and other neighboring parts of the weaving machine;
  • Figure 2 is a perspective view showing, in more detail, the means for supporting and guiding the weft insertion members;
  • Figure 3 is a partial plan view from above of said means, illustrating their action on the lower ply of warp son.

Figure 1 is a partial sectional view of a weaving machine, in which the insertion of the weft thread is ensured by two mechanical members moved in opposite directions, one driving the weft thread from one side of the machine to the middle of the width of the fabric 1 in formation, and the other taking up this weft thread in the middle of the width of the fabric 1 to pull it to the opposite side of the machine. Each insertion member 2 is shaped like a needle or ribbon, the end or head of which carries a clamp 3 capable of gripping the weft thread to be inserted. The insertion members 2 are supported, and guided in translation, by means designated as a whole by 4 in the drawing, where the comb is further indicated in 5 and in 6 the mechanism which controls the opening of the clamps 3, towards the middle of the fabric 1, for the exchange of the weft thread from one insertion member 2 to the other. As shown in Figure 1, the opening control mechanism 6 may include, for each clamp 3, a lever 7 itself actuated from a rotary cam 8, in a manner known per se.

The means 4 for supporting and guiding the insertion members 2, shown in more detail in FIG. 2, comprise a support strip 9 which extends over the entire width of the fabric and which supports a series of guide members , distributed over the length of the support strip 9 and fixed on the latter by means of screws 10.

If we exclude the middle region where the exchange takes place, the guide members are constituted by staggered hooks 11 and 12, shaped so as to receive and guide alternately an edge of the insertion member 2 and the opposite edge of this member 2. These lateral guide members 11 and 12 allow the insertion members 2 to pass over the lower ply of the warp threads 13, without the insertion members 2 or their heads rubbing on these threads 13, or on the comb 5, at any time. In addition, the lateral guide members 11 and 12 have a shape studied so as not to hook the warp threads themselves.

In the middle region, where the exchange takes place under the effect of the control mechanism 6, the support and guide members are constituted by other hooks 14 and 15, of special conformation. Each member 14 or 15 has a part 16 or 17, bent in a hook, ensuring lateral guidance of one edge or the other of the insertion member 2, and a bearing surface 18 taking place under the member Insertion 2, when the head of this organ is advanced into the median region. More particularly, the bearing surface 18 is located under the central part of the insertion member 2 in the advanced position, that is to say the part located towards the longitudinal axis of this member 2 and not towards its edges. The bearing surface 18 may belong to a metal carbide plate, attached to the support and guide member 14 or 15 itself made of treated steel.

At the time of the exchange, the heads of the insertion members 2 are located in line with the support and guide members 14 and 15 which have just been described. When the lever 7 acts on the corresponding clamp 3, in the direction indicated by an arrow F (see FIG. 1), the force is absorbed by the bearing surfaces 18 which then ensure the reaction to the opening force of the pliers. In addition, this action is carried out without risk of deterioration of the warp yarns of the lower ply 13 which, as shown in FIG. 3, are separated laterally by the respective hooked parts 16 and 17 of the support and guide members 14 and 15.

The number of these support and guide members 14 and 15 is variable, depending on the size of the area concerned by the opening efforts of the clamps 3.

The inserts of metal carbide, forming the bearing surfaces 18, promote the sliding of the insertion members 2 while preventing wear of these members 2 by the effect of friction. However, these plates are optional, and it is perfectly possible to envisage support and guide members 14 and 15 made in one piece, the support face 18 being an integral part.

It goes without saying, and it appears from the foregoing, that the invention is not limited to the sole embodiment of this support and guide device for weft insertion members which has been described above. above, at example title; on the contrary, it embraces all of the variant embodiments and applications respecting the same principle, and it is thus, in particular, that one would not depart from the scope of the invention by modifying the forms or the materials of the support and guiding members of the insertion members, or by adapting the invention to weaving machines with insertion members of various types: rigid insertion members (needles), deformable members (ribbons), telescopic lances, etc.
