  1.     characterised in that
    the sliding bolt comprises a bolt (7) having an inclined stop face (9) at the back of its free end (8),
    the handle (10) of the bolt carries a turn toggle (21) extending into a slot-like or groove-like recess (23) in the fixed guide (6, 11) for the sliding bolt,
    the latter recess (23) has a widening (24) at least at its end associated with the maximum bolt engagement depth of the sliding bolt,
    the turn toggle (21) is rotatable transversely into a locking position only in the latter widening (24),
    and the turn toggle (21) has a flat web (22) whose width permits it to be slid into the slot-like or groove-like recess (23) and whose length is greater than the width of the latter recess and less than the amount of opening of the widening (24).
  2. A latching bolt for the moving members, hereinafter called panels, of windows or doors or the like, more particularly a turn latch or lock for the panels of turn-tilt windows and doors, comprising: a spring catch having a relatively reduced bolt engagement depth determined by the spring travel; and a sliding bolt which is movable by a handle (10) and whose depth of engagement exceeds the bolt engagement depth of the spring catch,
    characterised in that
    the sliding bolt comprises a bolt (7) having an inclined stop face (9) at the back of its free end (8),
    the handle (10) of the bolt carries a turn toggle (21) extending into a slot-like or groove-like recess (23) in the fixed guide (6, 11) for the sliding bolt,
    the latter recess (23) has a widening (24) at least at its end associated with the maximum bolt engagement depth of the sliding bolt,
    the turn toggle (21) is rotatable transversely into a locking position only in the latter widening (24),
    the turn toggle (21) has a substantially semicircular peg (22a) whose plane semicircular surface (22b) is disposed on the rotational axis of the turn toggle (21),
    and the widening (24a) of the slot-like or groove-like recess (23) in the fixed guide (6, 11) for the sliding bolt is circular and merges by way of an offset on one side with that end of the latter recess (23) which is associated with the maximum engagement depth of the sliding bolt.
  3. A bolt according to claim 1 or 2,
    characterised in that
    the turn toggle (21) is disposed in a cylindrical chamber (25) which is open towards the back of the handle (10) and in whose end wall there is a profiled aperture (26), and the turn toggle (21) has a profiled channel (27) facing the profiled aperture (26), there being provided as operating element a tube spanner fitting the latter channel (27) and the latter aperture (26).
  4. A bolt according to claim 1 or 3,
    characterised in that
    the turn angle of the turn toggle (21) in the cylindrical chamber (25) is limited by abutments, for example, to 90°, an abutment (28) on the turn toggle periphery engaging in an arcuate groove (29) in the chamber (25) (Figs. 2 and 4).
  5. A bolt according to any of claims 1 to 4,
    characterised in that
    the spring catch and the sliding bolt are so disposed in a casing as to be movable independently of one another, the spring catch taking the form of a spring latch containing a guide channel which is continuous in its direction of movement, the front end of the sliding bolt movable by the handle is received in the latter guide channel and the end of the sliding bolt can be advanced in the guide channel beyond the end thereof into the associated bolt receiver.
  6. A bolt according to any of claims 1 to 5,
    characterised in that
    the turn toggle (21) is adjustable by a key- or spanner-operated turn cylinder.
  7. A bolt according to any of claims 1 to 5,
    characterised in that
    a pressing cylinder unlockable by a key is received instead of a turn toggle (21) in the sliding bolt handle (10).
  8. A bolt according to claim 2 or 6,
    characterised in that
    the turn angle of the turn toggle (21) in the cylindrical chamber (25) is limited to 180° by an abutment (28a) on the toggle periphery, the latter abutment engaging in an arcuate groove (29a) in the chamber (25) (Figs. 5 and 6).
