Definitions
- the invention relates to an electrolytic cell block consisting of a plurality of electrolytic cells arranged one behind the other, each electrolytic cell having two plate-shaped electrodes which are parallel to one another in a cell trough and a membrane parallel to these is arranged between adjacent electrodes.
- Electrolysis cell blocks of the type mentioned which are known in practice are produced in an open or unpressurized container construction with a relatively large electrode spacing. This results in high power consumption, relatively high investment and operating costs as well as large construction dimensions and inevitably space requirements. It is also disturbing that the number of electrolysis cells can only be changed with great effort.
- the invention has for its object to create an electrolytic cell block of the type mentioned in a modular design.
- the cell troughs are each constructed from four profile plates, which form the electrodes and membranes between them, forming electrolyte space halves, and the profile plates of the cell troughs are clamped together in a pressure-tight manner in a block frame with two parallel block end plates arranged on the end face.
- the advantages achieved by the invention can initially be seen in the modular design, which allows simple adaptation to capacity requirements by removal or addition individual cells.
- the compact design results in a significantly smaller space requirement, which results in greater ease of maintenance.
- the profile plates can be manufactured more easily and at lower cost than conventional welded structures. Since the distances between the electrodes are smaller than before, the power consumption is low and the capacity is high.
- the profile plates can also be optimally designed with regard to the hydraulic flows in the individual cells, so that there is also a high process yield.
- the profile plates are preferably made of injection molded parts.
- electrolyte supply and removal the least problems arise if at least the profile plates are provided in their corner regions with electrolyte supply and drain holes perpendicular to the profile plates, the latter being optionally provided, ie depending on the size, in the plate-shaped electrodes.
- the profile plates are expediently provided with clamping ribs and associated clamping grooves for holding the membranes. In order to maintain pressure tightness, it is also recommended to provide the profile plates with grooves for sealing cords and O-rings.
- the profile plates with guide recesses also goes in the same direction for horizontal crossbars of the block frame.
- the block end plates will conveniently be made of steel. They can be held together with the profile plates using tie rods.
- a hydraulic tension e.g. B. with the help of at least one hydraulic cylinder piston assembly, but is also possible.
- one block end plate is fixed and the other block end plate is mounted in the block frame so that it can be moved in parallel. In any case, it is advisable to provide the fixed block end plate with electrolyte supply and drain connections.
- the electrolytic cell block shown in the figures consists of several electrolytic cells 1 arranged one behind the other.
- Each electrolytic cell 1 has two plate-shaped electrodes 2, 3 (anode 2, Cathode 3) in a cell trough.
- a membrane 4 parallel to the electrodes 2, 3 is arranged between adjacent electrodes 2, 3.
- the cell troughs are each constructed from four profile plates 6, the electrodes 2, 3 and membranes 4, between the receiving electrolyte space halves 5.
- the profile plates 6 of the cell troughs are clamped together in a pressure-tight manner in a block frame 7 with two parallel block end plates 8, 9 arranged on the end face (cf. FIGS. 1, 2).
- the profile plates 6 consist of injection molded parts. In their corner areas, they and also the anodes 2 are provided with electrolyte supply and drain holes 10 perpendicular to the profile plates 6. In addition, the profile plates 6 have integrated membrane support grids 11. To hold the membranes 4, the corresponding profile plates 6 are provided with clamping ribs 12 and associated clamping grooves 13. For pressure tightness, d. H. to seal the electrolyte spaces (anolyte, catholyte space), the profile plates 6 are also provided with grooves 14 for sealing cords or O-rings 15.
- the profile plates 6 are provided with upper and lower guide recesses 16 for horizontal cross members 17 of the block frame 7.
- the block end plates 8, 9 are made of steel. They are held together with the aid of tie rods 18. But you can too be clamped together using at least one hydraulic cylinder piston arrangement.
- the one block end plate namely the block end plate 8 to be seen on the left in FIGS. 1 and 2 or the block end plate 8 shown in FIG. 3, is fixedly arranged in the block frame 7.
- the other block end plate 9, on the other hand can be moved in parallel, namely after removing the tie rods 18. In this way, additional cells can be added or excess cells can be removed.
- the fixed block end plate 8 is provided with electrolyte supply and drain connection 19.

Abstract
Description
- Fig. 1 eine Vorderansicht eines Elektrolysezellenblockes,
- Fig. 3 eine Seitenansicht des Gegenstandes der Fig. 1 in Richtung des Pfeiles A,
- Fig. 4 in Explosionsdarstellung einen Teil des Elektrolysezellenblockes nach Fig. 1,
Fig. 1, 2).
