Description

The invention relates to a chimney head structure with a cantilever plate fastened under the upper end of the smoke pipe and the casing enclosing the smoke pipe, a wall surrounding the casing supported on the cantilever plate and a cover plate resting on the wall, which has an opening for the passage of the flue gases.

The wall and the cover plate serve to keep weather influences away from the upper end of the chimney jacket and to prevent the thermal insulation properties of the jacket and the thermal insulation located between the jacket and the flue pipe from being impaired. In particular, it should be prevented that moisture enters the thermal insulation through the jacket and eliminates its ability to prevent condensation of the flue gases at the upper end of the flue pipe if possible. In the fireplaces according to the prior art, the wall, which can be constructed from clinker bricks, bricks with plaster and the like, encloses the jacket relatively closely and the cover plate either closes with its edge with the outer surface of the wall and is mortared with it or force beyond the outside of the wall and has a pulled-down edge with a drip or water nose.

It has been shown that the formation of condensate in the flue gases in the area of the chimney head has so far not been reliably avoided. Efforts have therefore been made to improve the heat insulation of the smoke pipe between the jacket and the smoke pipe, since the greatest heat losses from the environment can be expected here due to the relatively high temperature of the smoke pipe. Improvements of this type include measures to keep the thermal insulation layer arranged between the jacket and the flue pipe constantly dry by means of ventilation channels running from the bottom upwards in order to preserve their thermal insulation properties as narrowed as possible.

The invention has for its object to further improve the thermal insulation at the top of the chimney.

According to the invention this is achieved in that the wall surrounds the chimney jacket at a distance and forms a ventilation space therewith that air inlet openings are provided at the lower end of the wall and / or in the cantilever plate and air outlet openings are provided at the upper end of the wall and / or in the cover plate , each of which is connected to the ventilation space.

The invention is based on the consideration that to reliably avoid the formation of condensate in the area of the upper end of the chimney not only measures are required which bring about thermal insulation in the area of the greatest temperature gradient between the flue pipe and the environment, but also that the chimney jacket must be ensured itself, ie outside the thermal insulation layer arranged between the chimney jacket and smoke pipe, is kept as thermally insulating as possible. For this, the Invention before to move the already existing wall of the chimney jacket away from the jacket so that a ventilation space is created between the wall and the jacket, which will normally be a circumferential annular space, and to arrange air inlet openings at the lower end of the wall and / or in the cantilever plate, to which correspond to air outlet openings at the upper end of the wall and / or in the cover plate. This takes advantage of the fact that the cantilever plate, on which the walling is usually supported, is always under the roof in the storage room or attic of the building, so that one - if between the air inlet openings at this point and the air outlet openings provided at the upper end of the ventilation space there is often only a slight temperature difference, which causes an upward air flow through the ventilation space. This measure allows the wall of the chimney head to be back-ventilated, so that moisture which has penetrated from the outside of the wall is removed before it can wet the jacket and thereby cool it to an even lower temperature than it already has. This rear ventilation does not require any additional measures which are significant in terms of cost, since the cantilever plate, walling and cover plate of the chimney head structure must be provided in any case. The walling of the chimney head structure according to the invention also protects the chimney jacket not only from moisture, but also from cooling, which could arise solely from heat transfer, in particular in the event of wind, between the wall and the jacket. Possibly. can be provided in the context of the invention in the ventilation space on the outside of the jacket insulation layer.

According to an advantageous and simple embodiment, it is provided that the air inlet openings at the lower end of the wall are formed by vertical butt joints between the bricks of the lowest brick layer, which are deliberately kept free of mortar. The load-bearing capacity of the wall is not affected. However, the air inlet openings can also be through holes in the cantilever plate in the area which enables a connection to the ventilation space.

At an upper end, the air outlet openings can be formed by horizontal slots between the cover plate and the wall, according to an expedient and also easy to carry out further development, the cover plate preferably projecting on all sides over the upper end of the wall in a manner known per se, but according to the invention by means of downwards protruding bases or feet supported on the wall. The slots are thus automatically formed between these bases or feet after the cover plate has been put on.

  • Fig. 1 einen Vertikalschnitt durch einen Kaminkopf nach der Erfindung;
  • Fig. 3 einen Schnitt längs der Linie III-III in Fig. 2.
An embodiment of the invention is explained below with reference to the accompanying drawings. The drawings show:
  • 1 shows a vertical section through a chimney head according to the invention.
  • Fig. 2 is a bottom view of the cover plate of the chimney head of FIG. 1, and
  • 3 shows a section along the line III-III in FIG. 2nd

The chimney shown in Fig. 1 is a finished chimney from individual smoke pipe sections 1, casing stones 2 and one built up between the smoke pipe sections 1 and the casing stones 2 each used insulation layer in the form of insulation layer shells 3. Between the penultimate and the last casing stone 2, a cantilever plate 4, for example made of concrete, is inserted and mortared with these casing stones. The cantilever plate 4 has a central opening which tightly surrounds the thermal insulation layer 3 and supports a wall 5 made of bricks. The wall 5 is arranged at such a distance from the uppermost casing stone 2 that a ventilation space 6 is formed thereby, which in the exemplary embodiment shown extends as a (square) annular space in the circumferential direction and extends to the upper end of the wall 5. In the ventilation space 6, a further thermal insulation layer 7 is arranged, which consists of insulating panels, for example made of mineral wool, and lies closely against the outside of the uppermost casing stone 2. The insulation panels forming the thermal insulation layer 7 can be held by means not shown, for example by wire wrapping. The ventilation space remaining between the thermal insulation layer 7 and the inside of the wall 5 has a width of at least 3 cm.

With the ventilation space 6 are air inlet openings at the lower end of the wall 5 in connection, which are formed in that butt joints 8 between the bricks of the lowest brick layer are kept free of mortar. This is indicated in Fig. 1 in that the end faces of the bricks forming the butt joints 8 are drawn blank, while the mortar between the end faces of the other brick layers is indicated by a puncture.

On the uppermost brick layer of the wall 5 lies a cover plate 10, which basically corresponds in its shape (square) to the shape of the wall 5, but overhangs on all sides over the outside thereof and has a downwardly angled edge 11 with a water nose 12. In addition, the cover plate 10 has a central opening 13, which serves for the passage of the flue gases from the flue pipe 1 and for receiving a pipe socket 14 attached in a manner known per se. Furthermore, the cover plate 7 has a largely flat undersurface within the edge 11, from which, however, the base 15 integrally attached in the corners protrude downward, via which the cover plate 7 is supported on the wall 5. Due to the support by means of the base 15, 5 air outlet slots 16 are formed between these bases, the lower surface of the cover plate 10 and the top of the wall, which are largely protected against the ingress of rain and wind by the downwardly drawn edge 11. The cover plate 10 can be made of concrete, polymer concrete, fiber concrete or the like. be made. In addition, it can have eyelets or sleeves, not shown, cast directly on its top as a moving aid. The edge 11 of the cover plate 10 drawn downward forms a strong stiffening at the edge, which makes it possible to keep the cover plate relatively thin. As is apparent from Fig. 1, the top of the cover plate 10 is inclined towards the edge 11 downward, so that the drainage of rainwater is promoted.

The mode of operation of the chimney head structure described is as follows: since the cantilever plate 4 is located in the area of a (not shown) roof or storage space of a building, the air inlet openings of the wall 5 formed by the butt joints 8 also lie in this area. The upper end of the chimney head structure shown in FIG. 1 extends over the (not shown) Roof of the building so that at least the air outlet openings 16 are outdoors. This results in an air flow indicated by arrows in FIG. 1 through the ventilation space 6, which enters through the butt joints 8, runs along the thermal insulation layer 7 arranged in the ventilation space 6 and along the inner wall of the wall 5 and through the air outlet openings 16 between the bases 15 emerges again. This air stream dries moisture and conveys it to the outside, which may have penetrated through the wall 5 to the inside thereof.

As is readily apparent, the cover plate 10 can be adapted to any cross-sections of the wall 5 with its design principle. The formation of the upper smoke tube end with a cover, the smoke tube socket 14 and its sealing in the central opening 13 of the cover plate 10, which can be seen in FIG. 1, is conventional and does not require any further explanation at this point.
