Abstract

A device for tapping beer or the like from cans comprises a housing with an outlet closable by a tapping valve and an air pump. Attached to the housing is a piercing pipe which can be introduced into the can and forms a beer discharge channel which is in communication with the outlet. The air supplied by the air pump flows separately from the beer through lateral air outlet openings of the piercing pipe into the can above the level of the beer and applies pressure to the beer. The flow cross-section of the beer discharge channel in the piercing pipe is determined substantially throughout its entire length by the internal diameter of this pipe. A thin-walled sleeve of smaller external diameter than the internal diameter of the piercing pipe which separates the beer discharge channel from the flow path of the supplied air and which is sealed relative to this channel below the air outlet openings is provided in the upper region only of the piercing pipe.

The dispensing device for beer or other carbonated drinks shown in FIG. 1 comprises a housing 1 with an arm 2 directed to the right in FIG. 1, inside which a beer outflow line formed by a hose 3 runs, which in turn runs at an outlet end 4 of the arm 2 leads into the open. On the underside of the housing 1, a housing-fixed nose 5 and a resiliently movable nose 6 are provided, with the aid of which the housing 1 can be clipped onto the upper edge 7 of a can 8 filled with beer or the like in a manner known per se is closed on its cover 9 by a stopper 11.

A piercing tube 12 projects downward from the housing 1 and its length corresponds approximately to the height of the can 8. With this piercing tube 12, the appropriately designed plug 11 is pierced in a manner known per se. The piercing tube 12 is then pushed through the stopper 11 until the housing 1 can be clipped onto the can rim 7 by means of the lugs 5, 6. The lower opening 13 of the piercing tube 12 is then located just above the bottom of the can 8.

The housing 1 also carries on its upper side an air pump 15 with a stationary piston housing 16, on the outside of which a hood 17 with a grip part 18 which slides over the housing is slidable. A circular disk-shaped, flexible membrane 19 is arranged on the upper side of the piston housing 16 and its outer edge lies against the inside of the hood 17. In the interior of the piston housing 16, a compressed air line, for example in the form of a hose 21, is also provided, which is connected to a check valve 22 which is firmly connected to the upper wall of the piston housing 16.

If the hood 17 is pushed upwards over the piston housing 16, the edge of the membrane 19 detaches from the inside of the hood 17 and air flows from outside and below into the air formed between the top of the piston housing 16 and the inside of the hood 17 Space. If the hood 17 is now pushed down again, the edge of the membrane 19 seals against the hood 17 and the air between the piston housing 16 and the hood 17 is transferred via the check valve 22 into the compressed air line formed by the hose 21.

In the housing 1 is fixed, e.g. by gluing or screwing, a distributor piece 25 is inserted, which projects freely with a sleeve 26 projecting downward into the uppermost region of the piercing tube 12, forming a relatively wide annular gap between the outer wall of the sleeve and the inner wall of the piercing tube. The distributor piece 25 contains a nozzle valve 27 at the top, which can be actuated via a nozzle lever 28 pivotally mounted on the housing. The nozzle valve 27 is pressed by a spring 29 sealingly against the upper edge of the sleeve 26. When the lever 28 is depressed, the valve 27 lifts off its seat on the sleeve 26.

A first hose nipple 31 for connection to hose 21 and a second hose nipple 32 for connection with hose 3 are also formed on distributor piece 25.

As shown, the piercing tube 12 is screwed with an external thread into an internal thread of a sleeve 33 which is also formed on the distributor piece 25, an annular seal 35 being inserted between the sleeve 33 and a collar 34 on the piercing tube 12.

The piercing tube 12 has lateral air outlet openings 36 which, in the operating state of the device, lie below the stopper 11 and above the level 37 of the liquid in the can 8. Below these air outlet openings 36, the lower edge of the sleeve 26 is sealed against the inner wall of the piercing tube 12 by means of an annular seal 38. Thus, when the pump 15 is actuated, the air flows through the hose 21, the nipple 31, the annular space between the piercing pipe 12 and the sleeve 26 and the air outlet openings 36 into the space between the liquid level 37 and the can lid 9. As a result, the liquid in the can is pressurized from above, so that it rises inside the piercing tube 12, enters the sleeve 26 and fills it up to the nozzle 27. The sleeve 26 mediates a separation between the supplied air and the liquid. If the dispensing valve 27 is now opened by actuating the lever 28, this takes place under the effect of the prevailing air pressure Liquid (beer) via the hose line 3 to the outside in a prepared container.

The described design of the dispensing device has the following advantages over the prior art: a special, narrow riser pipe, which extends over the entire length of the piercing pipe 12, is omitted. The cross section of the beer outflow channel is practically determined by the relatively large inner diameter of the piercing tube 12, the likewise still relatively large inner diameter of the sleeve 26 and the likewise large diameter of the hose line 3. Since the draft beer does not have to overcome narrow areas on its way from the can via the tapping tube 12 and the sleeve 26, it flows in relatively large quantities at a low speed to the outlet end 4 of the device. As a result, the beer releases practically no carbon dioxide when it passes through the piercing tube 12 and the sleeve 26. It can therefore be tapped without foaming. The foam only forms from the amount of beer that has already flowed into the vessel to be filled. It is therefore possible to tap around 30% faster than devices with the narrow riser mentioned.

  • Außendurchmesser der Hülse 26: zwischen 7,5 und 9,5 mm;
  • Innendurchmesser der Hülse 26: maximal 9 mm.
The following dimensions have proven to be particularly advantageous:
  • Inner diameter of the piercing tube 12: between 8 and 10 mm
  • Outer diameter of the sleeve 26: between 7.5 and 9.5 mm;
  • Inner diameter of the sleeve 26: maximum 9 mm.

Particularly preferred values are 9, 8 and 6 mm for the inside diameter of the piercing tube 12, the outside diameter of the sleeve 26 and the inside diameter of this sleeve.

As shown, in contrast to the prior art, the annular space mediating the air supply between piercing tube 12 and sleeve 26 also has a relatively large cross-sectional area, so that the compressed air supply is also facilitated and improved.

Im übrigen funktioniert die Ausführungsform gemäß Fig. 3 ebenso wie die Ausführungsform gemäß Fig. 1.In the embodiment of the invention shown in FIG. 1, the sleeve 26 forming part of the distributor piece 25 is firmly connected to the housing 1. In another preferred embodiment of the invention, the sleeve 26, which effects the separation of air and beer, could also be formed separately from the other functional parts of the distributor piece 25, namely the nipples 31, 32 and the receptacle for the nozzle valve 27. Such an embodiment is indicated schematically in FIG. 3. In this case, a sleeve 126 corresponding to the sleeve 26 in FIG. 1 is inserted into the piercing tube 12 and is connected to the tube 12 in a tight and sealed manner below the air outlet openings 26. At the upper end (not shown in FIG. 3) of piercing tube 12 and sleeve 126, a seal is made on the device housing 1 in a conventional manner. Otherwise, the embodiment according to FIG. 3 functions just like the embodiment according to FIG. 1.

In a further embodiment, the sleeve 126 can also be inserted as a loose intermediate part between the piercing tube 12 and the housing 1.

In both of the last-mentioned embodiments, the nipples 31, 32 and the receptacle for the nozzle valve 27 are then embodied in a different manner in the housing, in which the piercing pipe 12, e.g. can be used by a screw connection.

The air pump 14 described in connection with FIG. 1 with the manually displaceable hood 17 can also be replaced by another gas pressure generator, for example by a carbon dioxide cartridge.

As is apparent from FIG. 1, according to the invention the hose 21 forming the compressed air supply line is arranged between the nipple 31 of the distributor piece 25 and the stationary piston housing 16 of the air pump 15. The check valve 22 is inserted into this hose 21 at its end facing the piston housing 16. This achieves the advantages that the hose end, which contains the check valve 22, is kept tightly sealed in its receptacle 41 provided for this purpose and, at the same time, the check valve 22 is fixed on the piston housing 16. This makes training and assembly of the pump particularly simple because a special receiving device for the check valve 22, which previously had to be provided, is dispensed with. The hose 21 can also be replaced by another compressed air line, for example also a rigid line. As shown, the check valve 22 has a plurality of circumferential, sawtooth-like ribs 42 for sealing and fixing at its upper end.
