Hierzu werden die Kaliberwalzen (21,23) mit einer die Walz­ kraft um eine Vorspannkraft überschreitenden Anstellkräften so gegeneinander angestellt, daß die Mantelbereiche (25) der Walzen, sich direkt unter Einwirkung der Vorspannkraft auf­ einander abstützend, aufeinander ablaufen. Durch elastische Ausbildung der Stützbereiche läßt sich das umschlossene Kaliber durch Steuern oder Regeln der Vorspannkraft auf gewünschte Werte einstellen.
