Definitions

  • the present invention relates to foldable temporary signaling beacons and storage and / or transport containers thereof.
  • the technical sector of the invention is that of the construction of temporary signaling materials used on the roads for obstacle markers.
  • beacons are commonly used which are composed of a rectangular panel having a width of 25 cm and a height of 1 m, which panel carries colored bands inclined at 45 ° , to the right or to the left, alternatively red and white.
  • the problem to be solved is to design beacons of this type mounted on a foldable support, which is arranged to allow the rapid installation and recovery of a large number of beacons because it is frequent that a road construction site or an accident oblige to neutralize a taxiway over a great length.
  • An object of the present invention is to provide both foldable beacons and a storage container for these which facilitate the folding operations of the beacons as well as the deployment and positioning operations and which make it possible to carry out these safe operations without the risk of operators being struck by a vehicle.
  • Another object of the invention is to provide beacons mounted on a folding support, which, once opened, has a very large footprint, which gives it excellent stability.
  • Another object of the invention is to provide foldable beacons which can have signals on their two faces or which can temporarily support a road sign of circular, triangular or square shape.
  • Another object of the invention is to provide a storage container which can contain a large number of folded tags and which can serve either as a fixed storage magazine or as a transport vehicle by being placed on the platform of a truck or well being equipped with an axle with wheels and a drawbar to serve as a transport trailer.
  • Another object of the invention is to provide a container for storing beacons which further comprises means for storing temporary traffic signs or thin plates capable of being placed on a folding support carrying the beacons, so that said container contains all the signaling equipment necessary to mark up a site.
  • Another objective of the invention is to provide containers for storing and / or transporting the foldable beacons according to the invention arranged so that an operator can perform the operations of folding and storing the beacons in the container and / or the deployment and installation of beacons on a road without excessive fatigue.
  • Signaling devices which comprise a folding support composed of two pairs of feet hinged together.

  • Patent FR-A 1 533 436 (FROMENT et al) describes on the one hand traffic signs mounted on a support provided with rollers which is foldable on a rectangular base provided with rollers and on the other hand a trailer for storing these signs .
  • the trailer has two rails which are fixed to the floor and which constitute raceways for the panel rollers. It comprises two other rails which are fixed to the walls of the trailer and in which the rollers of the base of a folded panel roll.
  • the objectives of the invention are achieved by means of foldable signaling beacons in which the axis of articulation of the two pairs of feet of the foldable support is a transverse rod whose free ends largely protrude on both sides of the panel and of the feet, in which the panel is extended upwards by a vertical bar carrying at its upper end a transverse and horizontal bar forming a handle and in which the crosspiece which connects the two front legs together is shorter than the crossbar which connects the two rear legs together or is situated at a level different from the level of the rear crossbar so that the ends of said rod and of said horizontal bar respectively cooperate with a pair of slides and a pair of rails, of a storage container and that the rear cross member cooperates with pivoting latches carried by said storage container.

  • the invention results in new folding tags and containers specially arranged to receive these tags and to facilitate the folding or deployment thereof.
  • the beacons according to the invention have the advantage of being mounted on a folding support which automatically takes up the unfolded position under the sole effect of the weight of the beacon and which has, in this unfolded position, a large bearing surface on the ground , so that the beacon resists overturning by the push of the wind without it being necessary to ballast or anchor the support to the ground as is the case with the beacons known to date.
  • the beacons according to the invention used in association with the storage containers provided with two suspension rails in the upper part and two lateral slides for guiding the articulation axis of the articulated feet make it possible to obtain an automatic folding of the support simply by pushing the tag inside the container. They also make it possible to obtain an automatic deployment of the support by pushing the beacons one by one towards the rear and, therefore, they allow the positioning of the beacons directly on the ground along a line by a single operator.
  • the folding tags according to the invention can receive on their front face a temporary sign of triangular, circular or square shape to serve as support for this sign.
  • They can also receive a thin plate which can be slid in front of their front face or their rear face, which makes it easy to transform them into double-sided beacons if they have only one face at the origin or into beacons carrying different signals, for example colored bands inclined in opposite directions.
  • the bands are tilted down from the side where they must be bypassed to avoid the obstacle, for example on the left in the case shown in Figure 1.

  • the lower ends of the two front legs 4a, 4c are interconnected by a crosspiece 5a.
  • the crosspieces 5a, 5b serve as support for the ground. They have a length significantly greater than the width of the panel 1 and the spacing between feet in order to increase the width of the support polygon and to give the tag good lateral stability.
  • the length of the crosspieces 5a, 5b is of the order of two to three times the width of the panel 1.
