Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a ski boot made of at least semi-rigid material consisting of a lower part comprising the sole and surrounding the foot and the heel and of an articulated rod on the lower part and comprising, at the rear , a connecting mechanism between the rod and the lower part, this mechanism essentially comprising two rods hinged together and respectively to the rod and to the lower part, the mechanism being arranged so that it can occupy a first position in which the rod is locked relative to the lower part and a second position in which the rod is free to oscillate on the lower part, one of the rods being provided with manual actuation means.
  • a shoe comprising such a connecting mechanism is described in patent CH-A 639,250 (FR-A 2,491,304).
  • the links form a knee joint.
  • the skier To move from the open, free position, from the mechanism to the closed position, or vice versa, the skier must act directly on one of the links and in each case he must overcome the resistance of the shoe itself to go beyond from the neutral position of the kneepad, that is to say beyond the position in which its three joints are aligned.
  • the skier When closing the kneepad, the skier must also often overcome in addition the resistance offered by the ankle itself, if it is not bent.
  • the joints of the kneepad are constantly stressed. These joints are generally in a position such that the knee brace offers a significant resistance to the rotation of the upper of the shoe towards the rear.
  • shoes which are known which are equipped with a device for locking the upper consisting of a rocker cooperating with a stop (patent CH-A 644 501 / EP-A 0 086 908).
  • This device has the advantage of being locked automatically under the action of a spring when the skier bends the leg. This locking may however occur unexpectedly in the rest or on position.
  • the object of the present invention is to provide a connection mechanism between the upper and the lower part of the shoe which is easy to unlock, locking itself automatically when the leg is bent, and the resistance of which in the walking position is almost zero.
  • the ski boot according to the invention is characterized in that one of the links has a lumen or groove in which is engaged the axis of articulation of the links between them, this lumen or groove having a longitudinal part and a transverse part, at the end of the link opposite its point of articulation on the shoe, an elastic means, acting transversely on the link articulated to the upper and tending to maintain the articulation axis of the links between them in the bottom of the transverse part of the light or groove, said manual actuation means being arranged so as to angularly move the rods relatively to one another so as to disengage the axis of articulation from the part transverse of said light or groove so that this axis can varnish slide in the longitudinal part of the light or groove.
  • the only resistance to overcome to unlock the link mechanism is that of the elastic means.
  • this elastic means has only a positioning function and it is relatively weak. When walking, the articulation axis of the links between them moves freely in the lumen, so that the resistance offered by the mechanism is practically zero.
  • the elastic means also provides automatic locking of the connecting mechanism when the skier bends the leg.
  • the connecting mechanism can also be easily provided with a member for holding in the unlocked position so as to prevent inadvertent automatic locking of the mechanism.
  • the unlocking of the connecting mechanism can be done by pressure or by pulling, the second solution being preferable to avoid unlocking due to an external shock.
  • the link articulated to the rod can be either the link provided with the light or groove or the other link.
  • the rod not provided with a light can be elastically extensible so as to ensure an elasticity of the rod in bending.
  • the shoe partially shown in the drawing consists of a lower shell 1 comprising the sole 2 and surrounding the foot and the heel 3.
  • a rod in two parts comprising a front part not shown and a rear part 4 articulated in 5 on the shell 1.
  • this rear part can tilt relatively far back thanks to a particular conformation of the shell in the region of the heel.
  • the shoe shown is of the so-called rear shoe type.
  • the front part of the rod can be articulated around the same axis 5 which corresponds as best as possible to the articulation of the ankle or around another axis.
  • the rod could also be in one piece.
  • connection mechanism between the lower shell and the rod 4.
  • This connection mechanism consists essentially of two links 7 and 8 hinged together around an axis 9, the link 7 being further articulated to the shell around an axis 10 and the link 8 being articulated at the rod around an axis 11.
  • the axis 10 is mounted between two interior ribs 12 provided in the shell 1. These ribs 12 also serve, by their profiles, to limit the interior volume of the shell intended to receive the heel of the skier.
  • the axis 11 of the articulation of the upper link 8 to the rod is mounted between the two parallel wings 13 and 14 of a metal support 15 constituted by a U-profile embedded in a housing of the same profile formed in the rear part 4 of the rod as shown in Figure 2, the support 15 being fixed to the bottom of this housing by two rivets 18 indicated by their axes.
  • the wings 13 and 14 of the support 15 also have two identical and opposite longitudinal grooves 16 and 17 in which the ends of the axis 9 of the articulation of the links are guided.
  • the upper link 8 also consists of a metal part having a U-shaped profile ( Figure 2).
  • This link 8 is articulated between the wings 13 and 14 of the support 15 and its wings are provided with two opposite and identical openings 19 and 20, each of these openings having a longitudinal part 19a, respectively 20a and a transverse part 19b, respectively 20b forming an angle slightly less than 90 ° with the longitudinal part.
  • These transverse parts 19b and 20b constitute locking notches as will be described later.
  • the link 8 is further provided with two bent arms 21 and 22 passing through the support 15 through two cutouts 23 and 24 and a plate 25 serving as support and guidance for a helical spring 26 working in compression between the link 8 and the support 15.
  • the lower link 7 consists of a rectangular cage 29 formed by cutting and folding, the ends of which are applied to the one against the other so as to form a plate 30 by which the link is articulated to the shell, and a rod 31 passing through an elastomer cylinder 32, this rod being provided at one end with a head 33 receiving the hinge pin 9 and at its other end of a washer 34, the elastomer cylinder 32 being of a length such that in the uncompressed or slightly compressed state between the washer 34 and the top of the cage 29, the head 33 bears against the end of the cage 29.
  • the rod lette 7 is therefore elastically extensible but not compressible.
  • the cam lever 27 is folded down as shown in FIG. 4.
  • the cam part 27a of this cam lever is supported on the support 15 and has the effect of exerting a pull on the arms 21 and 22 of the link 8 which is placed substantially parallel to the support 15 by compressing the spring 26 so that the longitudinal parts 19a and 20a of the openings of the link 8 coincide with the guide grooves 16 and 17 of the support 15.
  • the axis 9 can therefore slide in the guides 16 and 17 and the rod 4 can oscillate freely around its articulation 5 the cam lever 27 remaining in the position shown in FIG. 5.
  • the rear part of the rod 4, respectively the rod 4 is tilted back, the length of the lights and the guide grooves being provided long enough to allow maximum tilting.
  • the cam lever 27 is then folded back against the rod 4, in the position it occupies in FIG. 1. This folding of the cam lever 27 can already be carried out in the position of the rod shown in FIG. 4, the connecting rod 8 being retained angularly by the axis 9 arrives opposite the locking notches 19b and 20b and the spring 26 can then automatically return the rod 8 to the locked position shown in FIG. 1.
  • the extendable link 7 could of course be replaced by a rigid link if one is satisfied with the elastic deformation of the shoe to ensure its elasticity in flexion.
  • the locking notches could be oriented towards the interior of the shoe; the spring 26 would then be disposed on the other side of the link 8.
  • the unlocking of the connection mechanism would be effected by pressure on the link 8, either by means of a cam which would hold the link 8 in the unlocked position. either without cam, which would however have the disadvantage that the mechanism could lock unexpectedly during a bending of the leg.
  • the links 7 and 8 could be inverted, the extendable link 7 then being articulated on the upper 4 of the shoe.
  • the unlocking could also be carried out either by traction or by pressure on the upper link, depending on the orientation of the locking notches.
