Abstract

A sound-damping rail assembly for a track for rail vehicles comprises a rail having a pair of downwardly converging flanks below its head and above its base. The rail is received in a frame with downwardly inclined sides, the flanks being braced against these sides by elastomeric layers which are interposed between the flanks and the sides. A further elastic layer can be provided between the base or foot of the rail and the inner supporting surface of the frame and such layers may completely envelop the rail except for the head.

Description

The invention relates to an elastically mounted rail for rail vehicles, which is supported with its lateral boundary surfaces located below the rail head via an elastic intermediate layer against the inner lateral boundary surfaces of a frame. Such rails are used in the tram, subway, railroad u. the like

It is known to arrange an elastic intermediate layer for the elastic mounting of a rail for rail vehicles under the rail foot (DE-OS 27 45 220). However, this elastic intermediate layer causes no or only very insignificant sound insulation.

It is also known, according to the preamble of claim 1, to arrange an elastic intermediate layer under the rail head for the elastic mounting of a rail for rail vehicles (GB-PS 1 155 075). This rail mounting also results in an extremely low level of sound insulation, because the elastic intermediate layer, as in the case of the above-mentioned elastic intermediate layer arranged under the rail base, is predominantly only subjected to pressure. In addition, this rail storage requires a relatively large height.

In the case of another further elastically mounted rail, an elastic intermediate layer is arranged both under the rail foot and under the rail head (US Pat. No. 2,045,253). This rail bearing has the disadvantages of both of the aforementioned rail bearings.

It is therefore usually arranged under the sleepers supporting the rails, metal plates or the like. Sound-absorbing bearings. In such a bearing, the sleepers supporting the rails or the like are supported against bearing frames connected to the foundation by means of inclined elastic intermediate layers arranged on their circumference (DE-OS 28 28 713). The inclined elastic intermediate layers are only partially subjected to pressure, but also partially to thrust. Since this provides good sound insulation, these bearings have proven their worth; however, they cannot always be used because the space required for the storage is not available everywhere.

The invention has for its object to support the rail so elastic that the largest possible spring travel is possible, so that extensive insulation of both structure-borne noise and airborne sound is achieved, and that it requires little space, so that the rail both tram rails laid at street level can also be used in tunnels.

The solution to the problem is that with an elastically mounted rail of the type mentioned, in the area in which the support is provided via the elastic intermediate layer, both the surfaces laterally delimiting the rail below the rail head and the inner lateral delimiting surfaces of the frame taper straight down and that the rail is arranged within the frame such that no contact between the rail and the frame can take place.

The rail mounted elastically according to the invention requires an overall height which is only slightly greater than the height of the rail itself. It is therefore particularly suitable for the rehabilitation of existing lines - with or without ballast. In addition, it has been found that less wear to the rail and on the vehicle wheel and a lower corrugation of the pushing "nenlauffläche occur in a bearing according to the invention rail. In addition, the usual clamps for fastening the rail are omitted.

In an embodiment of the invention, a further elastic intermediate layer is provided between the rail foot and the inner lower boundary surface of the frame, so that the suspension runs progressively under a certain load on the rail and, moreover, no contact can take place between the rail and the inner lower boundary surface of the frame.

With the exception of the rail head, the rail is advantageously completely covered by elastic intermediate layers. As a result, in addition to better sound insulation, the rail is insulated.

According to another advantageous embodiment of the invention, the angle which the lateral boundary surfaces of the tapering region of the rail form with one another is smaller than the angle which the inner lateral boundary surfaces of the frame form with one another.

In a further embodiment of the invention, at least one intermediate space is provided between the elastic intermediate layer arranged under the rail foot and the inner lower boundary surface of the frame, the height and cross section of which are dimensioned such that when the normal load on the rail is exceeded, which is exerted by a normally loaded rail vehicle - the space is completely filled by the elastic liner. The normal load is about 70% to 80% of full load. With this feature of the invention, the suspension is relatively soft in empty to normally loaded vehicles, while it becomes very hard at higher loads. In this way, optimal sound insulation is achieved when the rail is loaded by empty to normally loaded vehicles.

In order to prevent the material forming the elastic inserts, such as rubber, from migrating out, the elastic intermediate layers have at least one insert made of metal, fabric or the like.

die elastischen Zwischenlagen sind zweckmäßi-the elastic intermediate layers are

gerweise so bemessen, daß sie auch bei unbelasteter Schiene unter Vorspannung stehen.dimensioned in such a way that they are under tension even when the rail is not loaded.

In order to be able to elastically support standardized rails according to the invention, in a further development of the invention the downwardly tapering region of the rail is formed by molded parts, the inner boundary surfaces of which are adapted to the standardized rail.

The rail mounted according to the invention can be designed such that a web with approximately parallel boundary surfaces is provided between the downwardly tapering region of the rail and the rail base, or that the molded parts extend over the entire height of the web of the standardized rail.

The assembly of the elastically mounted rail is facilitated in that the frame is formed by two metal halves which are held together by screws.

In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the contact surfaces of the frame are chamfered in such a way that they form an upwardly open wedge-shaped gap. As a result, the desired pretensioning of the elastic inserts can be set very precisely by appropriately tightening the screws holding the two halves of the frame together.
