Bei einer bekannten Vorrichtung dieser Art (DE-A-26 50 858) ist der Führungsmantel feststehend angeordnet, und es ragt von ihm eine ebenfalls feststehende, axial gerichtete Trennwand zum Walzenmantel vor. Am Ende der axialen Erstreckung der Führungswand und der Trennwand ist ein mit dem Walzenmantel umlaufendes Förderrad vorgesehen, das gemeinsam mit der Trennwand die Umwälzeinrichtung bildet. Diese Anordnung hat den Vorteil, daß die für die Temperaturverteilung im Walzenmantel verantwortliche Relativgeschwindigkeit des Wärmeträgermediums gegenüber dem Walzenmantel unabhängig von der Zu- und Abführung des Wärmeträgermediums zum bzw. vom Walzeninneren allein durch entsprechende Bemessung der Umwälzeinrichtungen eingestellt werden kann. Die Kanäle in den Walzenlagern können entsprechend klein ausgebildet werden. Jedoch hat diese Anordnung den Nachteil, daß sie vergleichsweise aufwendig ist, insbesondere wenn unterschiedliche Strömungsgeschwindigkeiten innerhalb des Walzenhohlraums vorherbestimmbar sein sollen. Ferner ist eine Kühl- oder Heizwalze mit einem mit dem Walzenmantel drehbaren Führungsmantel bekannt (US-A 34 01 745), in der ein von außen mittels eines Motors antreibbares Axialpumpenrad vorgesehen ist, was den Nachteil eines verhältnismäßig hohen Aufwands für die Antriebs-und Lagerorgane mit sich bringt.In a known device of this type (DE-A-26 50 858), the guide jacket is arranged in a fixed manner, and it also protrudes from it an axially directed partition wall, which is also stationary, to the roller jacket. Eine weitere Abstufung der Umwälzgeschwindigkeit kann durch die wahlweise Zuordnung von Leitvorrichtungen erreicht werden. Die drehrichtungsunahbängige Ausführung der Umwälzeinrichtungen geschieht nach den in der Strömungstechnik geläufigen Grundsätzen.
