- the middle part has the triple function of positioning the movement and the dial, protecting the watch from environmental aggressions and contributing to the aesthetic appearance of the watch. To this is added, in the case of waterproof watches, at least, the function of holding the seals in place.
- the object of the present invention is to provide a more satisfactory solution to this problem than the known solutions.

- a recess 36d formed in the base of the ring 36, receives a seal 48 ensuring the seal between the back and the middle part.
- the outer ring 34 which serves as a protective and decorative element, is advantageously made of sapphire or any other hard material, as defined above.
- the front plate 22 only partially covers the outer ring 34. No member is specifically provided to maintain it. It is simply pinched between the front plate 22 and the bottom 26.
- the two rings are separated by a seal 50, made of flexible material, which has the function of absorbing the shocks undergone by the middle part.
- the outer ring 34 has a slot 34a, visible in FIG. 1, in which is housed the crown 18. This slot gives the ring an elasticity which reduces its sensitivity to shocks.
- the bottom 26 is extended by two ears 40 which are used for fixing the bracelet 16, using screws 42.
- FIG. 3 differs from that of FIG. 2 in that the screws 46 cooperate with threaded tenons 52 (only one of which appears in FIG. 3) passing through the inner ring 36 and rigidly fixed, for example by welding, to the front ring 28.
- the inner ring 36 then has a groove 36e in which a seal 54 is inserted, ensuring the seal between the front plate 22 and the ring 36.

- the inner ring 36 has a clearance 64 inside which the time setting crown 18 is engaged. This clearance is limited towards the outside by the ring 34.
- outer shapes of the outer ring 34 and the front plate 22 can be varied without constraints, while retaining the same basic structure. We can thus create many models, for a minimum of costs.
- the inner ring could be manufactured in one piece with the watch plate, without going beyond the ambit of the invention, the manufacturing problems posed by the inner ring and the plate finding solutions that can easily be reconciled. .
