Claims (15)

1. A metal element (1) for securing a rail to a concrete sleeper (4) by means of a sleeper clip (3) having the shape of a spring double loop, this element comprising a portion (5) arranged in projection with respect to the slepper (4) and intended to cooperate with the base (6) of the rail and the sleeper clip (3), and two anchoring lugs (7 and 8) arranged on both sides of the projecting portion (5), these lugs being substantially parallel to the rail (2) and intended to be embedded in the sleeper concrete in order to secure the element (1) against motion with respect to said sleeper, the projecting portion (5) comprising a vertical surface (9) which is parallel to the rail (2) and forms a shoulder for one of the edges (10) of the rail base (6), a socket (12) having a cylindrical portion (13) the axis of which extends in a parallel direction to the rail and in which one of the ends of the sleeper clip (3), of a substantially circular cross-section, is set in position, and a substantially horizontal holding area (15) for the other end of the sleeper clip, the socket (12) being formed between the vertical surface (9) and the holding area (15), the end of the sleeper clip bearing in this socket (12) on the face of the latter which is turned towards the sleeper (4) while the other end of the sleeper clip (3) bears in the holding area (15) on the face of the element which is opposite to the sleeper, this element (1) being characterized in that it comprises, on the one hand, at least two pieces (18 and 19) each made from a metal flat bar, such as soft steel, a first piece (18) being shaped to comprise the vertical surface (9) intended to form the above-mentioned shoulder, the anchoring lug (7) which is the nearest to the rail (2) and is located in the extension of the vertical surface (9), the cylindrical portion (13) forming the socket of one of the ends of the sleeper clip (3) and the substantially horizontal holding area (15) for the other end of the sleeper clip, and a second piece (19) being shaped to comprise the anchoring lug (8) of the element which is the farthest off the rail, this second piece (19) being united to the first piece (18) by welding to the face (20) of the latter which is turned towards the sleeper and along the free edge (21) of the substantially horizontal holding area (15), which is parallel to the rail (2) and, on the other hand, means arranged to centre the element (1) into a casting mould for the sleeper and to prohibit concrete to be admitted into the socket (12) of the element (1) when concrete is cast, said means comprising a metal plate (28) extending in a horizontal direction between the internal faces of both pieces (18, 19) and being fixed by welding to the latter.

An element according to claim 1, characterized in that the rectangular and plane metal plate (28) is fixed to said pieces (18, 19) in order that the distance separating it from the farthest generatrix of the cylindrical portion (13) of the socket (12) formed by the first piece (18) is at least slightly higher than the diameter of the end (14) of the sleeper clip (3) intended to be secured against motion in said socket, the dimension of the plate (28) when considered in a parallel direction to the rail being higher than the corresponding dimension of both pieces (18,19) forming the element (1), said plate being fixed to said pieces so that it protrudes on both sides of the element, plate portions (31) which are in projection with respect to the latter being substantially equal.

An element according to claim 1, characterized in that the metal plate (28) which is of rectangular aspect and which extends between the internal faces of pieces (18 and 19) so as to protrude on both sides of the latter, along a direction parallel to the rail, is medially arched in order to present, on the one hand, a central plane and horizontal portion (44') comprised between the pieces (18 and 19) and of which the face (45') which is turned towards the socket (12) is substantially located at the same level as the upper line (46) of the edge (10) of the base (6) of the rail (2) and, on the other hand, portions (31) located on both sides of the central portion (44') and in projection with respect to the pieces (18 and 19), the faces (47) of said portions (31) which are turned towards to socket (12) being at the same level as the lower line (48) of the edge (10) of the base (6) of the rail, the distance separating the central portion (44') of the cylindrical part (13) of the socket (12) formed by the piece (18) being at least slightly higher than the diameter of the end (14) of the sleeper clip (3) intended to be set in position in said socket.

An element according to any of claims 1 to 3, characterized in that it comprises a rectangular plane plate (32) fixed by welding on the first piece (18) and substantially vertically arranged in the area ofthis piece (18) which is embedded in the concrete in the proximity to the piece face (9) forming the above-mentioned shoulder, the dimension of said plate (32) when considered in a parallel direction to the rail being preferably higher than the corresponding dimension of the piece, portions of this plate which are in projection with respect to the piece being substantially equal and each having, from the vertical faces which are perpendicular to the rail, a semi-circular recess (34) for allowing a concrete iron rod to pass.
5. An element according to claim 4, characterized in that the plate (32) is fixed on the face of the piece (18), which is intended to be turned towards to rail.

An element according to claim 5, characterized in that the plate (32) is shaped in order to present a flange (49) which extends in a perpendicular direction to the face (9) of the piece (18), forming the rail shoulder, the face (50) of this flange, which is turned towards the socket (12) being located at the same level as above-mentioned faces (47) of the portions (31) of the plate (28).
7. An element according to any of claims 1 to 6, characterized in that the dimensions of both pieces (18 and 19), when considered in a parallel direction to the rail (2), are equal.

An element according to any of claims 1 to 7, characterized in that the lateral faces of the flat bars used for both pieces (18 and 19) are plane and parallel by pair, two contiguous lateral faces forming a right angle, at least the flat bar forming the first piece (18) having, from its lateral face intended to form the end of the anchoring lug (7), either one cutting-out (22) which is symmetrical about the flat bar axis perpendicular to said lateral face, and which is intended to form a central recess in the anchoring lug (7) of said piece (18) so as to allow passage of at least one connecting means (24) of two concrete blocks forming a sleeper (4), or two cuttings-out (22 which are symmetrical about the above-mentioned axis and are intended to form on both sides of a central anchoring lug portion (25), recesses allowing passage of concrete iron rods of a one-piece sleeper (4) made of prestressed concreted.
9. An element according to any of claims 1 to 8, characterized in that both anchoring lugs (7 and 8) are of unequal lengths, the anchoring lug (7) provided in the extension of the vertical face (9) ofthe first piece (18) being longer than the anchoring lug (8) of the second piece (19).
10. An element according to claim 9, characterized in that the base (26) of the anchoring lug (8) of the second piece (19) is located substantially at the same level as the upper portion (27) of the recess or recesses (22) provided in the anchoring lug (7) of the first piece (18).
11. An element according to claim 10, characterized in that the height of the recess or recesses (22) is at most equal to 7/10 of the corresponding dimension of the portion of the first piece (18), which is intended to be embedded in the concrete of the sleeper (4).

An element according to any of claims 8 to 11, characterized in that the anchoring lug (7) of the first piece (18) vertically extends in the extension of the area forming the above-mentioned shoulder, this lug presenting, below the level of the upper portion (27) of the recess or recesses (22), a first transversal distortion (36) orientating the lug (7) towards the rail so that it forms an angle of about 20° with respect to the vertical, a second distortion (37) orientating the lug (7) to the other direction according to an angle of about 20°, and a third distortion (38) in order that the end of the anchoring lug be directed towards the rail by forming an angle of about 30° with respect to the vertical.
13. An element according to any of claims 1 to 12, characterized in that the second piece (19) is united to the first piece (18) so that the angle (39) formed by the face (20) of the horizontal area of the first piece (18) which is turned to the sleeper, and the face (40) of the second piece (19) which is turned towards the rail, is of about 95°
14. An element according to claim 13, characterized in that the second piece (19) presents, below the fixing level of the plate (28), a first transversal distortion (41) spreading away this piece (19) from the first piece (18) according to an angle of about 20°, a second distortion (42) directed along the other direction according to an angle of about 20°, in order to bring this piece (19) nearer to the first piece (18) and a third distortion (43) in order that the free end of said second piece (19) spreads away from the first piece (18) according to an angle of about 30°.
15. An element according to any of claims 1 to 14, characterized in that it is made of two elements (1), which are vertical and the first pieces (18) of which are turned towards each other and parallel, the distance separating said first pieces (18) corresponding to the transversal dimension of the base (6) of the rail, means (45) intended to be embedded in the concrete being provided so as to unite together at least one anchoring lug (7, 8) of each one of the elements (1).
