Abstract

Apparatus for providing double coverings or claddings has a stiff support piece shaped to fit in a bottom portion of a corrugation of a pre-existing roof covering. The support piece attaches to subjacent purlins through the pre-existing covering. The support piece has a generally U-shaped section including a base coopertively shaped for being seated in the corrugation with upper edges of the U-shaped section being folded back horizontally so as to provide two seats for engaging an upper purlin. The laterally disposed ends of the seats are raised at right angles to form abutments. An upper purlin is attached to the abutments of the support piece. The upper purlin is a reversed U-shaped metallic section having side wings. The wings have edges folded back horizontally and outwardly.

Description

The invention relates to roofs and cladding. It relates to a device for making double covers or cladding.

The need for these double covers and cladding has been felt since we became aware of the need to thermally and phonically insulate roofs and cladding in order to save energy, ensure comfort in summer and isolate living or working premises from external noise attack.

The advantage of double roofing and cladding is that they allow insulation operations to be carried out directly on existing structures, built over several years and which were not designed to receive insulation. They also authorize the refurbishment of existing covers, while allowing the occupants to normally live in the premises.

A method currently used consists of fixing on an existing cover purlins between which there is an insulating material and fixing on these purses a new cover.

Un exemple de réalisation selon ce procédé est décrit dans le brevet GB 2 063 961.According to another method also known, riders are fixed in the background of the waves on which the rafters of the second cover are fixed to prevent them from bearing on the wave tops of the first cover. An exemplary embodiment according to this method is described in patent GB 2,063,961.

These known methods have drawbacks. In the first case, the failures relating to the wave tops risk crushing these waves, due to the load thus applied to the top of deformable profiles. This is particularly the case for fiber cement roofing. On the other hand, the purlin fixing screws are large and work in flexion.

In the second case, the jumpers are not universal, the distance between the fixing brackets of the jumpers being different depending on the cover profile used (fiber cement board, corrugated sheet, etc.). It is therefore necessary to provide as many different types of jumpers as there are commonly used profiles, which are currently several hundred. In addition, the jumpers do not include means ensuring the proper positioning of the purlins for their fixing, and when this positioning is obtained, it is necessary to drill the two parts (purlin and jumper) to assemble them, for example by bolts. These drilling operations are made very difficult to perform due to the inclination of the roofs.

The invention provides a device which overcomes the drawbacks indicated above. To this end, the device according to the invention, which is of the type in which the over-roof is fixed on purlins themselves fixed on jumpers or load-bearing parts resting in the hollow of the wave on the underlying purlins, is characterized in that each load-bearing part is constituted by a generally U-shaped profile whose upper edge of the wings is folded horizontally outward to form two seats, the ends of said seats being raised at right angles to form stops centering and fixing a top purlin on said carrier part, either by screwing through said stops, or by pinching said abutments on the corresponding edges of said purlin.

The dimensions of the load-bearing part are advantageously chosen so that its small base can be accommodated in all the waves of roofs generally used, while the height of its sides is greater than that of the tallest profiles generally used.

The parts according to the invention are fixed in the hollow of a wave parallel to the slope of the roof, directly on an underlying purlin, through the existing cover plate.

According to a preferred embodiment, the carrier part is trapezoidal in section, its wings diverging slightly towards the outside, while the failure which is associated with it is a profile with an omega section.

The invention also relates to the supporting part of the above device, characterized by its general U-shape with its folded upper edges forming the seat and its stops.

The invention further relates to connecting parts for the purlins of the device according to the invention and a tilting support for fixing load-bearing parts to sand purlins.

Finally, the invention relates to a clamp specially designed for mounting purlins on load-bearing parts and connecting purlins together.

These various objects as well as other characteristics and advantages of the invention will emerge from the description which follows of preferred embodiments, with reference to the appended drawings, in which:
  • Figure 1 is a perspective view of a fault-carrying part according to the invention, with an omega breakdown.
  • Figure 2 is a perspective view similar to that of Figure 1, the carrier part and the omega tip being assembled.
  • Figure 3 is a perspective view of the carrier part of Figure 1, with a failure in C.
  • Figure 4 is a perspective view of a first embodiment of a connecting piece for the end-to-end assembly of two omega purlins.
  • Figure 5 is a perspective view of another embodiment of a connecting piece for the end-to-end assembly of two omega purlins.
  • Figure 6 is a perspective view of the as-. semblance of two omega purlins using the part of figure 5.
  • FIG. 7 is a perspective view of a tilting support for fixing the load-bearing part to an unevenly spread sand failure.
  • Figure 8 is a perspective view of a clamp specially designed for mounting the device according to the invention.

The supporting part 1 shown in FIGS. 1 to 3 is a jumper of general U shape, intended to rest by its base 2 in the bottom of the waves of the roof to be renovated. Preferably, as shown, the carrier part is trapezoidal in section, the wings 3 diverging slightly outward. The upper edges 4 of the wings 3 are folded down horizontally to form the seat of the purlins, such as the purlin 10, which will support the new covering.

On ne risque donc pas d'écrasement de celle-ci.The height of the wings 3 is greater than that of the tallest cover profiles, which are commonly used. Thus, the failures carried by the parts 1 fixed in the hollow of the wave will always be removed from the wave peaks of the existing cover. There is therefore no risk of it being overwritten.

Les ailes seront avantageusement munies de nervures de renforcement 5.The wings will advantageously be provided with reinforcing ribs 5.

The edges 4 are cut along their fold line over a certain distance on either side of the central part of said edges and form stops raised at right angles 6, perpendicular to said fold, which have the double function of prevent the purlins from sliding on the parts 1 in the direction of the slope of the roof and from constituting fixing lugs for said purlins when they are folded down to pinch the edges of the latter.

Along the median longidudinal axis 7 of the base 2 of the carrier part 1, elongated perforations 8 are made, for adjusting and fixing said part 1 to the purlins of the preexisting roof through the cover plates.

The purlin 10 (FIG. 2), intended to cooperate with the support parts 1, will generally be a metal section in an inverted U, the wings 11 of which are provided with edges 12, folded horizontally outwards on which will be folded the stops 6 of part 1.

The assembly constituted by the existing purlin 10 and the parts 1 which support it, forms a beam with greatly increased inertia, capable not only of supporting the weight of the second cover, but also of reducing the fatigue of the existing purlin.

In the example shown in FIG. 2, the purlin 10 is advantageously of omega section in order to constitute with the part 1 of trapezoidal section a non-deformable triangulation.

Dans cet exemple, les butées 6 sont simplement vissées contre les flancs de la panne, ce qui évite l'opération de repliage.FIG. 3 represents another embodiment, in which the purlin 13 has an open profile with square section, the side of which is equal to the width of the seat 4 of the part 1. In this example, the stops 6 are simply screwed against the sides of the purlin, which avoids the folding operation.

The connecting piece 14 is a section profile corresponding to that of the purlins to be connected, here an omega section, but with slightly lower dimensions.

The horizontal folded edges 15 of the part 14 are provided with at least two tabs 16, intended to be folded over the outer edges 12 of the purlins 10 in omega. This stapling generally constitutes a sufficient fixation.

Holes 17 may however be provided in said lugs, in order to possibly allow fixing by screws or bolts.

This part 18 is a simple U-shaped splint, provided with two tabs 19, intended for stapling the part 18 on the edges 12 of the purlins 10 to be connected and which facilitate the centering of said purlins when the splits.

An example of connection by means of this splint 18 is shown in perspective in FIG. 6. By folding down the four ends of the legs 19 over a short length, the splint is strongly secured with the two purlins, but the part is not completely folded center of the fishplate which is plumb with the connection plane between the two purlins, which reinforces the inertia of this connection plane. This stapling at the four corners of the splint 18 reinforces the tightening because the oblique portions 20 of the tab 19, which joins the stapled part to the non-folded part, strongly support the folding and thus oppose the loosening of the tab 19 .

When in the existing roof, the cover plate does not rest flat on the purlin which carries it, as is sometimes the case at the point of the sand pits, it is necessary, before installing the load-bearing parts 1, to interpose a wedge between the cover plate and the purlin which carries it, in order to make the compression part of the cover plate which will be taken between said purlin and the carrier part 1 work well.

The invention provides, as a variant, for fixing a tilting support, such as that shown in FIG. 7, on the sandstone purlin. This support consists of a part 21, in a U crossed by a bolt 22, forming a pivot axis for a tilting support 23 provided with two holes 24.

A universal connection piece is thus obtained since it can adapt to all roofs, whatever their angle of inclination, the tilting support 23 being immobilized in the appropriate position by simply tightening the bolt 22.

This part 21 makes it possible to dispense with the wedges provided above, of which a large number of models was required to adapt to all the roof slopes that may be encountered in reality.

For the installation of parts 21, it is necessary to clear the purlins at the location cor responding by making a slight cut in the cover plate, the part 21 being directly screwed onto the purlins using self-tapping screws passing through the holes 25 in the bottom of the part 21.

As has been said previously, the mounting of the omega purlins 10 on the load-bearing parts 1, as well as the connection between them of two omega purlins, is carried out by folding over the horizontal edge 12 of the said stops of the stops 6 load-bearing part 1 and / or legs 19 of the splint 18.

To allow these operations to be carried out very quickly and efficiently, the invention provides for the use of a special clamp 26 shown in perspective in FIG. 8.

This clamp consists of a cage 27, in which two opposing levers 28 are mounted to pivot freely around two axes 29, spaced from one another in the same plane.

The cage 27 extends outwards, beyond the articulation axes 29 of the levers 28, to form a stop which keeps said levers in alignment with one another in the open position of the clamp.

Between the two levers 28, the clamp has a bearing surface 30 forming a centering housing with raised edges 33, intended to cooperate with the seats 4 of the load-bearing parts 1 and the bottom of the fishplates 18 during the mounting operations.

Near their points of articulation to the cage 27, the levers 28 are provided with fingers 31, which form the pushers acting on the stops 6 of the parts 1 and the lugs 19 of the splint 18 when the pliers are used 26.
Preferably, the end 32 of the fingers 31 is of rounded shape.

The clamp 26 thus formed, makes it possible to pinch at the same time and with a single gesture the two sides of the parts 1 and the ribs 18, the housing 30, 33 having achieved automatic centering of the clamp.

Locking the levers in alignment in the open position allows the gripper to be positioned in the working position with one hand.
