Auf den Innenseiten 24 bzw. 25 werden die Rinnen 27 des Holmes 17, der senkrechten Rahmenschenkel 18 und 19 und der oberen Traverse 22 durch paarweise angeordnete Winkelklappen 28 abgedeckt, die an den Seitenwänden 29 bzw. 30 der oberen Traverse 22 bzw. der senkrechten Rahmenschenkel 18 und 19 und des unteren Rahmenholmes 17 derart befestigt sind, daß sie federnd nachgiebig in Richtung der Pfeile 30 nach außen schwenken können (Fig. 5), wenn sich das Umreifungsband 14 in Richtung auf den Innenraum 26 bewegt oder wenn sie von Spreizleisten 31 auseinandergedrückt werden, die an der oberen Traverse 22 angeordnet sind und weiter unten noch näher beschrieben werden. Damit das in der Rinne 27 vorgeschobene Umreifungsband 14 an Stirnkanten 32 der Winkelklappen auch dann nicht anstoßen kann, wenn diese ganz oder teilweise ausgeschwenkt sind, sind die Stirnkanten der Winkelklappen abgerundet und nach außen gebogen, wie dies am besten in Fig. 3 zu erkennen ist. An dem in Fig. 1 iinken Ende der Traverse 22 ist ein Gleitschuh 42 befestigt, der vorzugsweise aus selbstschmierendem Kunststoff besteht und auf seiner dem Rahmenschenkel 19 zugewandten Seite drei in seitlichem Abstand voneinander angeordnete Führungsleisten 43 trägt, die über die Außenseite 44 des Führungsschuhes 42 vorspringen und sich in Längsrichtung der Rahmenschenkel 18 bzw. 19 erstrecken. Die Führungsleisten 43 greifen in drei zueinander parallele Nuten 45 ein, die in der Gleitfläche 38 des Rahmenschenkels 19 angeordnet sind und sich in dessen Längsrichtung erstrecken (Fig. 2, 3 und 4). Claims (4)

1. Apparatus for the strapping or articles, especially packages (11), with a U-shaped band guide frame (12) in which a hooping or strapping band (14) is guided with its free end leading about the article to be strapped, and which at its inner sides comprises sliding surfaces (38) for the strapping band and at its open side is closed by a movable cross-member (22), which cross-member also comprises at its inner side a sliding surface (37) for the band and is adjustable on the free frame legs (19) in the longitudinal direction thereof, characterised in that the sliding surface (38) of the frame leg (19) from which the free end of the strapping band (14) passes on to the sliding surface (37) of the movable cross-member (22) comprises grooves (45) extending in the longitudinal direction of the frame legs (19), and that the sliding surface (37) of the cross-member (22) is provided with projecting sliding surface portions (46) which engage into the grooves (45) of the sliding surface (38) of the frame leg (19).

3. Apparatus according to claim 1 or 2, characterised in that the projecting sliding surface portions (46) are formed by guide strips (43) which are secured on the cross-member (22) and engage into the grooves (45) in the sliding surfaces (38) of the frame leg (19).
4. Apparatus according to one of claims 1 to 3, characterised in that the guide strips (43) with the sliding surface portions (46) are arranged on sliding shoes (42) of self-lubrificating material which are secured at least on one end (40) of the cross-member (22).
