Description

The invention relates to a separating device for separating grinding media and ground suspension in a wet grinding machine, with a sieve arranged at the grist outlet of the wet grinding machine, the passage openings of which are designed with dimensions that block the passage of grinding media and the outlet surface of the sieve opposite one in the direction of the sieve movable plate is arranged and the plate on the side facing the screen is provided with elements for piercing the openings of the screen (DE-A-2922 122).

It is known, for example, from DAS 24 46 341, for dispersing pigments essentially with wet grinding machines filled with grinding media - e.g. B. agitator mills, ball mills or tube mills - to use. After dispersing, it is necessary to separate the ground suspension from the grinding media. This separation takes place by means of slotted screens or slotted plates, the holes or slots being smaller than the grinding media, so that the ground suspension flows through the holes or slots while the grinding media are retained. As the gap width 1/3 is about the diameter of the grinding media used, are the use of very small grinding media with a diameter of for example 0.8 mm correspondingly small gap widths of, for example 0.25 mm necessary. So far, the service life of such slotted sieves has been very short - often only a few hours - because they quickly become clogged by abraded and broken grinding media and, in some products, by large particles. This in turn always means opening the wet shredding machine, removing, cleaning and reinstalling the slotted screen and closing the wet shredding machine.

Specifically in document DAS 29 22 122, a separating device is disclosed in which fixed separating elements and movable separating elements are designed as straight strips or bars that are parallel to one another. The fixed dividers form a grate with parallel bars. In the spaces between these bars, the movable dividing members are periodically arranged to be movable back and forth in the direction of the grinding chamber. In practice, however, this separating device could not suffice.

The invention is therefore based on the object of providing a separating device in which clogged sieves can be cleaned quickly and correctly during the ongoing operation of the wet comminution machine.

This object is achieved according to the invention in that the elements can be moved through the sieve from time to time as required.

An embodiment of the invention is explained below with reference to the drawing.

The drawing shows a section through the grinding chamber and through the slotted screen of an agitator mill, as well as through the plate arranged opposite the slotted screen with the narrow, solid sheet metal strips incorporated therein.

According to the drawing, there are ground suspension and grinding media 2 in the interior of a grinding chamber 1 of an agitator mill. The ground suspension leaves the grinding chamber via the grinding material outlet opening 3. A flat sieve 4 designed as a slotted sieve is arranged at the grinding material outlet, the gap widths of which are approximately Va the grinding media diameter. In this flat sieve 4 the grinding media 2 and the suspension leaving the grinding chamber 1 are separated and at the same time the grinding media 2 are retained. Small particles that are about the same size as the gap widths of the flat screen and consist of abraded and broken grinding media and product particles can get stuck in the flat screen and thereby reduce the free screen area. This often has the consequence that the flat screen is clogged after only a few hours. In order to prevent this clogging of the flat screen, a plate 5 which is movable in the direction of the flat screen is arranged opposite the exit surface thereof. Narrow, fixed sheet metal strips 6 are embedded in this plate, which are aligned with the openings 7 of the flat screen 4. In the event of any blockage, the metal strips are pushed through the openings 7 of the flat screen. As a result, the sieve-clogging particles are returned to the grinding chamber and the free sieve area is enlarged. The plate 5 is moved by means of a linkage 8. A seal 9 prevents suspensions from flowing outwards via the rod outlet opening. If the flat screen is clogged again, the process described above can be repeated periodically as required. In the illustrated embodiment, the movable plate is made of metal and the sheet metal strips are connected to the plate by welding. The thickness of the metal strips is slightly less than the openings of the flat screen. The dimension "b" of the sheet metal strips is greater than the thickness "k" of the flat screen. Alternatively, the sieve can be designed as a perforated plate and the metal strips in the movable plate as mandrels.

The advantages achieved with the invention consist in particular in that the cleaning of the slotted screen can be carried out quickly and correctly from the outside during operation. This eliminates the need for time-consuming cleaning work on the slotted screen and the service life of the wet shredder is significantly increased.
