Abstract

To connect several superimposed continuous prints, provision has been made, opposite each perforated margin of the prints, to fix dots obtained from a continuous ribbon (7) of width equal to that of the dots, using two cylindrical heads (1 -2) opposite, rotating vertically and symmetrically with respect to the prints (3) with a movement in synchronism with each other as well as with that of the print rollers (4), and using a fixed lever (30) tape and a tape unwinding lever (36). The head (1) is provided with a presser (5) and a punch (6); the head (2) is provided with a presser (10) and a notch (21) which, at each turn, are juxtaposed with the presser (5) and the punch (6) respectively. At each turn of the heads (1-2), a piece of the glued tape remains taken under the presser (5) and fixed on the print (3) passing between the heads (1-2), then this piece is cut by the punch (6) before being detached forming a binding point; successively, a tooth of the drive roller (4) allows the front part of the stitch to pass through one of the holes in the margin of the print (3) and a roller (42), located below the print ( 3), fold the head, fixing it to the lower page of the print.

Description

This invention relates to a rotary binding machine with glued ribbon dots for continuous bundled printing of tabulators.

We know the binding machine with glued ribbon points for continuous bundle prints which provides for the application of the dots by means of a head with alternating vertical movement, derived from rotary means employed for the horizontal advancement of continuous bundle prints and obtaining the stitches from a continuous ribbon whose width is equal to the length of the stitches. The particular structure, the operational cycle and the movement control means adopted of this binding machine cause a great limitation of the speed of the head and consequently of the production.

The object of this invention is to remedy this drawback.

    • - un presseur (5) radial, fixe, dont l'extrémité libre (51) cylindrique et concentrique à la tête (1) et dépassant légèrement cette dernière, destiné à fixer le point de ruban collé, à la page supérieure de l'imprimé (3);
    • - un poinçon (6) radial, fixé derrière le presseur (5), dont l'extrémité (61) prismatique, qui dépasse légèrement du presseur (5), se termine par un angle non véritablemnnt coupant, rectiligne, dont la longueur est égale à la largeur du ruban . collé (7), situé transversalement à celui-ci, destiné à couper le ruban collé en correspondance de la fin du point, de façon à en rendre plus aisé le détachement d'un eoup sec;
    • - une première came (8) fixée sur une des bases (12) de la conronne (1), destinée à commander le soulèvement d'un levier fixe-ruban pendant l'avancement du ruban collé (7) lors de la phase de formation du point;
    • - une deuxième came (9) fixée sur la même base (12) de la tête (1), destinée à commander le soulèvement d'un levier déroule-ruban collé pendant la phase précédent celle de formation du point.
    • - un presseur (10), radial, coulissant, à ressort antagoniste (20), dont l'extrémité libre, cylindrique, et concentrique à la couronne (2) et dépassant légèrement cette dernière, destiné à maintenir l'imprimé (3) pendant que l'élément presseur (5) de la tête (1) auquel il est opposé pourvoit à fixer le point de reliure;
    • - une encoche (22) périphérique, longitudinale, derrière le presseur (10) et en face du poinçon (6) de la couronne (1), destinée à coopérer à l'incision de la part du poinçon (6) du ruban collé (7).
The invention, in accordance with the claims, solves the problem of application, continues, along each perforated edge of the bundled prints, equidistant points of glued tape, by means of two superimposed cylindrical heads and pivoting vertically so as to entrain, fix and cut a thickness of ribbon the length of a point, obtaining it from a continuous glued tape, the width of which is equal to that of the stitches, with means for feeding the glued tape, extended and located above the perforated edge of the bundled prints and with means serving to fold the ppints against the bottom page of multipart prints. The advantages obtained thanks to this invention consist essentially in the fact that a glued tape is used whose width is equal to that of the stitches; that each point passes through a hole in the multipart prints and that the end is folded so that the prints are tightly bound; that the binding tape is consistently efficient and uniform; that the binding speed is very fast and the production very high. The invention is explained below in more detail using the drawings illustrating only one embodiment and where, FIG. 1 shows the side view, partly in section, of a rotary binding machine according to the invention; Fig. 2 represents the section AA of F ig. 1. A rotary binding machine with glued ribbon dots for printing in continuous bundles of tabulators, according to the invention, is essentially formed by:
  • A) A first head (1) in the shape of a cir crown circular, fixed on a horizontal shaft (11), perpendicular to the perforated edge of the prints (3), located above and very close to the horizontal plane of travel of the prints (3), rotating in the same direction as that of the prints (3 ) and at the same peripheral speed. This first head (t) is provided with:
    • - a stationary radial presser (5), the free end (51) of which is cylindrical and concentric with the head ( 1 ) and slightly protruding from the latter, intended to fix the point of glued tape on the upper page of the print (3);
    • - a radial punch (6), fixed behind the presser (5), the prismatic end (61) of which protrudes slightly from the presser (5), ends in a non-cutting, rectilinear angle, the length of which is equal to the width of the ribbon. glued (7), located transversely thereto, intended to cut the glued ribbon in correspondence with the end of the stitch, so as to make it easier to detach a dry piece;
    • - A first cam (8) fixed on one of the bases ( 1 2) of the conron (1), intended to control the lifting of a fixed tape lever during the advancement of the glued tape (7) during the phase of point formation;
    • - A second cam (9) fixed on the same base ( 1 2) of the head (1), intended to control the lifting of a tape unwinding lever glued during the phase preceding that of point formation.
  • B) A second head (2) with a circular crown, equal and opposite the first (1), fixed on a shaft (21) parallel to that (11) of the crown ( 1 ), located below and very close to the plane of the prints (3), rotating in the same direction as that of the advancement of these and to the same peripheral speed, besides being in synchronism. with the first head (1 °), the two heads (1-2). rotating in synchronism with the toothed rollers (4) driving the prints (3). This second head is provided with:
    • - a presser (1 0), radial, sliding antagonist spring (20), whose free end cylindrical and concentric to the crown (2) and slightly above the latter, for holding the print (3) while the pressing element (5) of the head (1) to which it is opposed provides for fixing the binding point;
    • - a peripheral longitudinal notch (22) behind the presser (10) and opposite the punch (6) of the crown ( 1 ), intended to cooperate with the incision on the part of the punch (6) of the glued tape ( 7).
  • C) A first bent lever (20), articulated on a pivot (3 1 ) fixed to a plate (39) and parallel to the shafts (11) and (21), provided with a rubber support (33) brushing against the ribbon glued (7) in the area above a horizontal and fixed threshold (34), over which the adhesive tape (7) passes, and a screw rod (35) for adjusting the cam (8) in addition to being slaved to a tension spring (32), intended to stop the glued tape when the screw rod (35) is not intercepted by the cam (8) and in the contrary case, intended to release the ribbon (7) when the rod (35) is lifted by the cam (8).
  • D) A second lever (36) articulated on this pi vot (31) provided with a block (36 ') for intercepting the glued tape (7) and a screw rod (37) for adjusting the cam ( 9) besides being slaved to a tension spring (38), intended to return from the reel (40) a piece (77) of ribbon (7) when the cam (9) lifts the rod (37).

The operation is as follows:
  • While the toothed rollers (4), by virtue of their rotation, drive the continuous bundle prints (3) in a uniform movement in the direction of the arrow (F), at each turn of the heads (1-2), l 'lower end of the lever (36) controlled by the cam (9) lowers recalling the coil (40) a piece (77) of glued tape (7); then, the support (33), of the lever (30) controlled by the cam lifts, leaving the end of the ribbon (7) located near the head (1), under the presser (5) of the head (1 ) which, with the presser (10) of the head (2) drives a piece of ribbon (7) with the print (3) fixing it to the print (3); then the head (6 1 ) of the punch (6) starts the ribbon (7) and therefore - as soon as the cam (8) releases the lever (30) and the support (33) falls on the ribbon (7) stopping it on the threshold (34) - the ribbon comes off forming the binding point; successively a tooth (41) of the first drive roller (4), located downstream of the head (1), engages the front part of the stitch and which is superimposed on one of the holes in the margin of the print (3) in said hole; finally, a roller (42) located below and tangent to the print (3) folds the head of the point protruding from said hole and fixes it to the lower page of the print.
