Description

The invention is based on a method for rinsing laundry washed in a program-controlled washing machine in several rinsing cycles in succession as a function of output signals from a measuring device which determines the rinsing water pollution and which causes the program control device to terminate the program when determining a rinsing water pollution which is permissible.

Such a method is known from FR-A-2 412 638. There, however, the determination of the rinsing water pollution is only fixed to the expiry of a certain period of time after the start of the rinsing phase and to a repeated repetition of this determination at likewise predetermined times. However, the selection of the most suitable point in time for such a determination leaves the known method open, which results in a significant restriction for the measurement reliability.

Furthermore, the wash program is only aborted when determining a permissible rinsing water contamination. The measuring and comparison device can happen to recognize a badly mixed amount of lye as admissible, although other lye components that are not mixed have an excessively high degree of soiling. In this case, the washing result would not be satisfactory.

Furthermore, a fabric softener cycle - as is often required for washing and rinsing in the household - cannot be used with the known washing machine with the desired success. In this case, the measurement result of the penultimate rinse should already indicate the success of the last rinse and the fabric softener should be added to this last rinse. The effect of the last rinse cycle should therefore be estimated, which harbors the same uncertainties that were criticized in the prior art on page 1, lines 13 to 23 of FR-A-2 412 638. Since the various detergents used, which are to be washed out of the laundry by means of the rinse cycles, behave differently with regard to their residues in the laundry, an adequately reliable estimate of the effect of the last rinse cycle cannot be made.

A device for determining the rinsing effect is also known (FR-A-2 023 381), the principle of which, however, is based on the measurement of the light absorption as a function of the pollution of the rinsing liquor that remains in a specific measuring section.

However, this principle does not allow reliable measurements with very strongly diluted alkali, so that its implementation fails.

The object of the invention is to develop a method specified in the preamble of claim 1 in such a way that the measurement of the washing effect becomes more reliable, so that the washing effect can be improved with the optimal use of agents. Furthermore, the use of fabric softeners or other laundry care products must not have any influence on the measurement result and thus on the result of the wash.

According to the invention, this object is achieved in that the measuring device is activated for a limited period of time at the end of each wash cycle, which is characterized by moving the drum and subsequent pumping out of the wash liquor, and in that the program control device for overriding the program steps until the program ends to end the program Pump down is set before the last rinse.

The particular advantage of the method according to the invention over the prior art is that, on the one hand, the detergent soiling is measured when the movement is very irregular and the probability of the measuring device responding prematurely is low. On the other hand, a last rinse cycle is also provided to protect against this low probability of the total soiling of the wash liquor, which is still too high, and by means of which this soiling is largely eliminated.

A further advantage resulting therefrom is achieved in a particularly advantageous circuit arrangement for carrying out the method according to the invention, in which switching means for activating the measuring device are provided, which work at least partially in time connection with switching means for the operation of the drain pump. This advantage consists in the fact that, without further circuitry measures, a program part is available in which a fabric softener or other laundry treatment provided for many program types can be carried out. For this purpose, the known methods disadvantageously require special program change switching measures. An effective activation of the measuring device in the last rinse cycle is precluded by suitable measures so that an additional laundry care agent cannot falsify the measurement result.

The invention is explained below on the basis of the drawing, which also shows an advantageous exemplary embodiment of a circuit arrangement according to the invention.

Es zeigen:

Show it:
  • 1 is a timing diagram for an assumed washing program,
  • 2 the section of an electrical circuit arrangement relating to the measuring device for a washing machine designed according to the invention.

In the upper line of FIG. 1, the level of the washing liquor of the tub is plotted over time. The line UM indicates the switched-on operating voltage for the measuring device over time, and the line UK shows the operation of the coupling magnet provided for an electromechanical program control device during the course of the program. When washing rises the washing liquor up to level 1. At the end of the washing process, a gradual increase in the liquor level up to level N2 is usually provided in a so-called continuous rinse program step. Then usually a maximum of five to seven rinse cycles run, which are characterized on the one hand by filling the washing container up to level N2 and on the other hand by moving the drum and then pumping out the rinsing solution.

In a hatched period at the end of each wash cycle, the measuring device is activated by applying the operating voltage. This time period can either start at a high level N2 and end when pumping down or start and end when pumping down. During this period, there is the greatest probability of determining a degree of purity that affects the entire washing liquor. At the end of the first and second rinse cycle, the measuring device does not yet determine the desired high degree of purity - this is illustrated by the blank rectangles of the diagram line UM. In contrast, at the end of the third rinse cycle, the measuring device determines that a desired high degree of purity of the washing liquor has been reached (the rectangle in the diagram line UM is filled) and now outputs an output signal to the program control device. This now runs over the fourth to sixth rinse cycles normally provided in the program and only continues the program when pumping out before the last rinse cycle. If the drain pump has already started operating at the start of the run-over steps, this will also be interrupted until the run-over process has ended. This is indicated by the dashed line drawn below the level N2 after the third rinse cycle. Then the tub is completely emptied and the last rinse cycle is initiated, the process of which is basically the same as the previous rinse cycle. At the end of the entire washing and rinsing program, there is an excellent rinsing result with all possible degrees of soiling and loading of the laundry item to be treated.

The electrical circuit of the washing machine shown in extracts in FIG. 2 shows the internal power lines P and Mp, to which the internal equipment of the machine can be switched to voltage via switches P1 to P3 of a program control device. The machine's internal equipment is only shown here: A transformer TR for providing the supply voltage for the measuring device M and the downstream amplifier V, the supply voltage switch for the measuring device M, the motor for the drain pump LP and the coupling magnet KM for the electromechanical program control device, not shown .

The circuit arrangement is designed in such a way that a constant power supply for the measuring device and its amplifier is offered through a program contact P1. However, the measuring device itself is only connected to the voltage converted by the transformer TR by the contact of the relay UM when the drain pump motor LP is switched on by the program contact P2. The measuring device M consists essentially of a Wheatstone resistance bridge, one branch of which consists of a partial resistor of an adjustable resistor R1 and a resistor RW and the other branch of which consists of the other partial resistor of the adjusting resistor R1 and the resistor RL. The resistors RW and RL result from the conductivity of the fresh water RW flowing through between electrodes arranged at a suitable location or from the conductivity of the rinsing solution RL located between electrodes arranged at a suitable location. The partial voltages of the two bridge branches are known to be coupled out via diodes and form the output signals for a differential amplifier V, which is set such that it allows the current to flow through the relay UK at a predetermined small difference in the signals at its inputs (-) and (+) .

The then excited relay UK switches the coupling magnet KM to voltage by means of its contact uk - the program switch P3 is closed in the rinsing program as required. Therefore, the KM coupling magnet switches the program switching mechanism to the position for the pumping process before the last rinse cycle. There the program switch P3 interrupts the circuit for the coupling magnet. To ensure the control of the coupling magnet KM outside the washing program, the line W is provided, via which the circuit for the coupling magnet can be closed if necessary during the washing program.

The specified circuit arrangement ensures that the measurement process is only ever carried out in a phase in which the wash liquor is distributed turbulently. This effectively prevents the risk of the program switching mechanism being switched on prematurely.

Instead of the operating voltage switching on for the measuring device M, which is carried out jointly with the drain pump motor LP, a switching on together with the washing drum drive motor (not shown) can also be provided. Then there still has to be a switching dependency, which only enables the measuring device M to be switched on, for example, during the last drum run phase of each rinse cycle, so that wash solution which is not so heavily soiled at the start of the rinse cycle does not falsify the measurement result. U.U. the switching dependency can also be coupled with a water level sensor switching at level N2.

Instead of a measuring device M operating on the principle of conductivity measurement, this can also be based on any other conceivable principle. The relevant literature contains many tips for this. For example, the measurement result on the turbidity measurement using light based. The dark light source, which is not switched on, also acts as if maximum cloudiness were present. The rinsing process cannot be stopped prematurely either.
