Definitions
- the invention relates to crystal-clear polyamides based on aromatic dicarboxylic acids and dialicyclic diamines.
- GB-PS619707 describes transparent polyamides made from dialicyclic diamines and preferably aliphatic dicarboxylic acids. Such products are not dimensionally stable at temperatures above 100 ° C.
- isophthalic acid should therefore be used as the dicarboxylic acid.
- these polyamides have too high a melt viscosity, so that their processing is difficult.
- the mixture of the starting materials used to produce the crystal-clear polyamides according to the invention is readily water-soluble. It is thus possible to set high solids contents, so that only little energy has to be used for water evaporation.
- the starting materials can be easily conveyed and dosed, which is particularly important in the case of continuous polycondensation. Finally, the proportions can be conveniently adjusted via pH measurement.
- the polyamides according to the invention are polycondensates of 3,3'-dimethyl-4,4'-diaminodicyclohexylmethane (dimethyldicycan) and hexamethylenediamine on the one hand and isophthalic acid which is partly replaced by adipic acid on the other hand.
- the mixture of the diamines contains 20-60 mol%, preferably 25-50 mol%, of dimethyldicycan. If too much or too little of this diamine is used, a polyamide is obtained which has too high a melt viscosity, which leads to difficulties in processing.
- the polycondensation is carried out by methods and under conditions which are customary for the production of polyamide-6,6.
- Dicarboxylic acids and diamines are used in approximately equivalent amounts;
- the chain length of the polyamide can be varied by deliberately small excesses.
- Small amounts of monocarboxylic acids or monoamines can optionally also be added for this purpose.
- the polycondensation is carried out in aqueous solution with a solids content of preferably 50 to 75% by weight; the preferred reaction temperature is 220 to 270 ° C, the pressure 10 to 40 bar.
- a continuous mode of operation is preferred, the principle of which e.g. is described in DE-OS 2417 003.
- the usual additives can be added to the polyamide before, during or after the polycondensation, e.g. Stabilizers, dyes, plasticizers, flame retardants and reinforcing agents.
- the following starting materials were introduced into a 40 1 stirred autoclave: 6.65 kg H 2 0, 4.503 kg isophthalic acid, 2.587 kg 4,4'-diamino-3,3'-dimethyldicyclohexylmethane, 1.891 kg hexamethylenediamine and 2.320 kg AH salt ( Adipic acid / hexamethylenediamine 1: 1).
- the contents of the autoclave were heated to 270 ° C. and condensed under a pressure of 20 bar for one hour, then depressurized, after-condensed for 2 hours at 280 ° C. and pressed out using N 2 pressure.
- the granulated product was further condensed in the solid state and the viscosity number VZ increased from 90 to 100.
- the crystal-clear polyamide obtained had the following properties: glass transition temperature 159 ° (DSC), notched impact strength 55 kJ / m 2 at 23 ° and 50% rel. Air humidity, tear resistance 70 N / mm 2 .
- the solution was condensed in a 150 l stirred autoclave for 2 hours at 270 ° C and 20 bar, slowly relaxes and 30 'post-condensed in the N 2 stream and squeezed 2 pressure from N and granulated.
