Description
KAISERLICHESIMPERIAL
PATENTAMT.PATENT OFFICE.
The drawing shows, in different views and sections, a Piassava broom with handle attachment. The wooden strips forming the bottom of the broom are milled out lengthways so that the end faces at s and s 1 are still closed. The wooden strips / are strung together with the insertion of the piassava root fibers w and then connected and held together by the transverse pins i. The insertion of the root fibers w .geschieht characterized, that they around the timber or tin-plated iron wire h of the same is bent and inserted in the milled r space and are closed by the next bar on the whole length. The boundary of the root fibers w is thus formed by the milling surfaces on the sides and the inner end surfaces at s and s 1 . The root fibers w fastened in this way can no longer be removed from their storage after all the strips / and connection of the same by the transverse pins i, but least of all fall out of their own accord. The stringing of root fibers on a wire, fiber by fiber, creates an extremely dense longitudinal row, which, when viewed from the side, has no gaps like the brooms that have hitherto been made of tufted fibers. The handle attachment to the broom also differs from the previous type. While the broomstick is usually inserted into a hole drilled in the bottom of the broom and fastened by a pin, a special device is attached here for the fastening. The bottom of the broom and the handle are namely clasped like tongs by two shields e and e 1 and pressed against both by eccentrics t. In the shield e 1 , the wedge k , which goes through a slot in the two shields, is fastened, at the upper end of which the eccentric t is movably attached by means of bolts. . Is t eccentric in the position of Fig. 3, so lay both the semi-circular hollow blades e and e 1 firmly to the stem, as well as the tong-like part £ same clutching the bottom of the broom. Should the broom be replaced or the handle is removed, the eccentric t is grasped on the handle and brought into the punctured position ρ , shields e and e 1 are loosened from the handle as well as from the broom, and both can be removed.
