Description
The invention relates to shaft seals whose elastic sealing lip under spring action, preferably under the action of a helical tension spring against the machine part to be sealed, so the shaft is pressed.
In almost all known shaft seals of this type, the neck of the sealing collar, which so-called sealing lip, with a relatively wide, cylindrical part on the shaft. It ίο seals are already known in which the cuff neck in the direction against the shaft to be sealed by a curved curve, preferably a circular arc shaped area is limited. Furthermore, the sealing lip is already in its cross-sectional shape Triangular shape so that the contact surface between the sealing lip and the shaft surface became relatively narrow. In the case of seals of this type, however, the The distance between the center of the spring action and the sealing surface is greater, the narrower it is selects the interface, d. H. the smaller the apex angle of the triangular cross-section. There but the spring should be as close as possible to the contact surface with the shaft, the size is this Distance is usually set, which also creates the angle that the sealing edges with the Include center line of the shaft, must be within certain limits.
All these known sealing lips have the disadvantage that the inevitable wear in operation the contact surface quickly becomes wider, which at the same time greatly changes the specific Brings contact pressure with it. It is desirable that as the wear progresses Sealing lip whose contact surface on the shaft gradually widens, thus progressively new Parts of the seal come into contact with new parts of the shaft, but on the other hand this should Broadening is only going on slowly and is kept within relatively narrow limits, otherwise due to a rapid decrease in the specific pressure exerted by the sealing spring the seal leaks easily; this makes the service life of these known seals less favorable Way influenced.
It has also already been proposed that rib-like, annular ones be used on the sealing surface of the lip To attach projections that have triangular cross-section and with pointed edges on the The shaft surface. Here, however, there is a risk of the shaft being corroded with the resulting resulting disadvantages.
The invention relates to a shaft seal of the type mentioned, in which the Disadvantages of the known seals are avoided in that the contact between shaft seals and the machine part to be sealed via one or more rib-like protrusions takes place, which have semicircular cross-section, so only part of the full Width of the sealing lip carries a ring-shaped projecting arched rib, so that as the wear progresses, other parts of the lip with the shaft surface will also do the same come into contact, but the contact surface must be kept fairly narrow in any case can. This becomes unavoidable in the case of triangular, i.e. sharp-edged ribs Corrugation of the shaft as a result of the curved contact surface avoided and thereby increases the service life of the sealing point accordingly. Thanks to this arrangement, On the one hand, this results in favorable wear conditions and, on the other hand, the overall structure and maintain the other dimensions of the seal according to the tried and tested principles will.
With regard to the weakening of the cross-section of the sealing lip in that on the shaft directly adjacent part here is the feather bed by attaching a known per se Reinforced edge.
_In the drawing, an embodiment of a seal according to the invention is purely schematic Shape shown. _
The drawing shows in an axial partial section a shaft seal with a sealing lip with a semicircular rib-like elevation. 1 is the housing with which the seal in the machine part stuck. 2 is the actual sealing sleeve. The tension coil spring 3 pushes the Sealing lip 4 against the shaft; the tip of the wave continues in an abutting edge 5.
As can be seen from the drawing, the radius of the elevation on the sealing lip 4 is very small held. It should primarily be smaller than half the coil diameter of the spring 3.
