Während dieser Zeit kann jedoch die Treppe nicht benutzt werden. Darüber hinaus besteht bei mittels Montageschaum befestigten Trittplatten der Nachteil, daß der Montageschaum, insbesondere in den Bereichen mit größter Abnutzung, elastisch nachgeben kann, was gelegentlich zu einem Lösen der Klebeverbindung führt. Auch auf der Setzstufe wird eine neue Setzplatte angebracht, die dort entweder mittels eines Klebers oder durch Montageschaum befestigt ist. Auch hier besteht der Nachteil, daß während einer vorgegebenen Abbinde- bzw. Aushärtungszeit die Treppe nicht begehbar ist.composite material.
