Abstract
The device comprises a control circuit (3), which is connected to a reference value emitter (1) and an actual value emitter (6) via electrical leads (2, 7). A third electrical lead (8) feeds pulses corresponding to the speed of rotation of the internal combustion engine to the control circuit. Also connected to the control circuit is an adjusting element (10) for adjusting the maximum speed of rotation of the internal combustion engine. A control element (4) comprises an electric motor (11), an electromagnetic clutch (12), a regulating member (13) and the actual value emitter coupled to the latter. The throttle valve (15) of a carburettor arrangement (5) responds to the movement of an accelerator pedal (17) until the set maximum speed of rotation of the internal combustion engine is attained. Lead-monitoring devices (9) control the clutch (12) so that the throttle valve (15) is returned to the rest position corresponding to idling of the internal combustion engine by isolating the electric motor (11) from the adjusting member (13) in the event of a defective electrical lead (2, 7, 8). The device can easily be fitted to any internal combustion engine without having to make further engine adjustments. <IMAGE>
