Description
Gas is particularly important when these catalytic reactions are being subjected must because the sulfur poisons the catalytic converters.
As is well known, the gases can contain both inorganic and organic sulfur Compounds contain; while the elimination of the former is not associated with any difficulties in practice, the same cannot be said of the latter.
Most of the methods which have been proposed for the elimination of the sulfur-containing organic compounds from the gases are based on reactions which cause the sulfur contained in these compounds to be converted into hydrogen sulfide. One of these methods is to make the sweep gas to be purified at temperatures between 500 to 550 0 F (260 to 288 ° C) over a catalyst formed from a blended with clay or other inert material metal (preferably titanium or tungsten) will. However, this process has the disadvantage that after a certain time the metal is converted into the corresponding sulfide, which is ineffective, so that the catalyst must be reactivated or replaced from time to time.
Synthese unter Druck).According to another method, some of the metals, which have an atomic weight between 51 and 65, are used as catalysts; they are applied to an inert carrier: the gas to be cleaned must preferably, preferably 100 atm. be compressed and heated to temperatures between 200 and 500 0 C. This method has the disadvantage of requiring the use of a relatively high pressure and is therefore only worthwhile if the gas serves special purposes (e.g. synthesis under pressure).
It is suitable for the complete elimination of the carbon oxysulphide from the gases very well the method forming the subject of the present invention that has the advantage has to be able to be carried out at ordinary pressure by means of a catalyst, which does not lose its effectiveness.
Die Erfindung gründet sich auf die Tatsache, daß die UmsetzungThe invention is based on the fact that the implementation
COS + H2 = CO + H2 S (A)COS + H 2 = CO + H 2 S (A)
vollständig verläuft, wenn man ein Kohlenoxysulfid und Wasserstoff enthaltendes Gas bei gewöhnlichem Druck und bei Temperaturen von 200 bis 2500 C über einen im wesentlichen aus Cuprosulfid, Kaliphosphat und Kalicarbonat bestehenden Katalysator streichen läßt.extends completely when a carbonyl sulfide and hydrogen containing gas can be deleted at ordinary pressure and at temperatures of 200 to 250 0 C over a group consisting essentially of Cuprosulfid, potassium phosphate and Kalicarbonat catalyst.
As can be seen from the above reaction equation, the carbon
Oxysulphide to a corresponding amount of hydrogen sulphide "Timed; this can easily be removed by a known procedure. - ■ - ■ '- · · ■ ■ ·· ■' ·« - "- ·· - ■ '
For the embodiment of the present invention, it is advantageous if the at least 2o contains ° / 0 hydrogen gas to be treated. With a lower hydrogen content, the process can also be carried out, but it is then necessary to leave the gas in contact with the catalyst for a longer time than usual, and accordingly the size of the apparatus used must also be increased. Contains the gas to be treated less than 2o ° / 0 hydrogen, so it is therefore appropriate to add him an appropriate amount of hydrogen before its treatment. In addition, it is of course expedient if the gas to be treated does not contain a high percentage of hydrogen sulfide.
Kieselerde usw., aufgetragen-.The catalyst is on inert supports such as charcoal. Silica, etc., applied-.
Charcoal is dried and treated with a solution of 20 to 50 g of phosphoric acid and 50 to 100 g of potassium carbonate soaked in 1000 g of water 3 <j. The charcoal is then dried and then soaked with a solution of 20 to 50 g of copper oxide ammonia per liter.
The charcoal is then dried again, then with the same copper oxide ammonia solution soaked again and dried again.
Dann ist der Katalysator zum Gebrauch fertig. Then the catalyst is ready for use.
If a hydrogen-containing Gas (water gas, coke oven gas, etc.) can be deleted at 200 to 250 ° C, the conversion of the copper takes place first instead of cuprous sulfide, since the hydrogen sulfide formed after reaction (A) is bound by copper.
During this process, the gas emerging from the synthesis apparatus contains neither Carbon oxysulphide and more hydrogen sulphide.
When the copper has completely reacted, the resulting hydrogen sulfide occurs out of the apparatus together with the gas; it is removed therefrom by means of one of the known methods.
The catalyst can also be prepared by. Coal dust or powdered Silica is kneaded with cuprous sulfide, potassium phosphate and potassium carbonate. As a binder one can use glucose, for example. The pulp mass obtained in this way forms in any Piece form the catalyst.
