Description

Plant pest control preparations. It is known that carbon disulfide is a very effective means of combating animal plant pests. Due to its high price, toxicity and easy flammability its use is limited in compliance with the strictest precautionary measures in very special cases.

It has also been proposed to use emulsions of benzene, toluene, xylene etc. as well as hydrocarbons of the fatty series for the destruction of larvae and pupae to use certain insects in water. Hydrocarbons alone or hydrocarbons in emulsion result in pests living on plants above ground often even in low concentrations leaf burns and are also in some Cases ineffective.

So z. It has now been found that the forerunner of Benzoldes: tillation, for which was previously only a small market, an excellent insecticide Able to exert an effect similar to that of carbon disulfide, without that the forerun has its disadvantages. The insecticidal effect of the benzene head is much larger than its low carbon disulfide content corresponds to, a sign that the other components of the forerun., such as thiophene, alcohols and hydrocarbons, play a significant part in its effect. The benzene flow can now be used as such for soil disinfection or in the form of Emulsions e.g. B. with oil and resin soaps or other emulsifying agents. While the well-known emulsions of hydrocarbons in soap solutions, even under Addition of alcohol, which does not result in a long-lasting stock solution, forms the one used here Benzene feed extremely durable emulsions that can be mixed with water in any ratio, which show a significantly lower fire hazard compared to the first run, see above that their shipping, storage and use are completely safe. she can be used in any desired dilution to control plant pests of any kind, especially aphids and aphids, can be used with excellent results. So z. B. aphids are found on ivy, broad beans, apples, larvae of the gooseberry sawfly, of the cabbage white with an emulsion with only r, 25 percent active substance. at a single treatment killed without causing damage to the plants.
