erfahren. Insbesondere soll die Legierung im
Temperaturbereich von Raumtemperatur bis 600°C
Zugfestigkeiten von mindestens 700 MPa erreichen und bei
Raumtemperatur eine Rißzähigkeit KIC von etwa 30 MPa·m1/2
erreichen. The invention is based on the object of specifying a method which enables superplastic shaping of TiAl base alloys which do not experience any reduction in the strength and toughness properties. In particular, the alloy should attain tensile strengths of at least 700 MPa in the temperature range from room temperature to 600 ° C. and should have a fracture toughness K IC of about 30 MPa · m 1/2 at room temperature.
To achieve this object, a method is proposed according to the invention in which the cast blank is produced from a two-phase TiAl / Ti₃-Al alloy with a lamellar structure with a lamella thickness of less than / equal to 1 µm, in the temperature range from 1050 to 1300 ° C. with a high degree of deformation deformed under dynamic recrystallization with grain sizes of less than 5 µm and superplastically formed in the temperature range from 900 to 1100 ° C at stretching speeds of 10 -4 to 10 -1 / s to give shapes close to final dimensions.
Die Erfindung betrifft die thermomechanische Behandlung
(Processing) von Formkörpern auf der Basis TiAl/Ti₃Al
durch Heißstrangpressen oder quasi-isotherme
Schmiedeumformung oberhalb der eutektoiden
Umwandlungstemperatur dieser Legierungen. Die
Legierungselemente Chrom, Niob, Mangan und Silicium
erleichtern den Übergang in den Gefügezustand der
Superplastizität und die daraus resultierende Nutzung der
superplastischen Formgebung. Anwendungsbeispiele für das
erfindungsgemäße Verfahren ergeben sich bei der Fertigung
von Motorenteilen (z. B. Ventile, Ventilteller, Pleuel),
Turbinenteilen (Schaufeln und Scheiben),
Zentrifugenkomponenten (Rotoren, Rotorblätter usw.) und
dergleichen. Intermetallische TiAl-Basislegierungen,
The invention relates to the thermomechanical treatment (processing) of moldings based on TiAl / Ti₃Al by hot extrusion or quasi-isothermal forging above the eutectoid transformation temperature of these alloys. The alloying elements chrome, niobium, manganese and silicon facilitate the transition to the structural state of superplasticity and the resulting use of the superplastic shape. Application examples for the method according to the invention result from the manufacture of engine parts (e.g. valves, valve plates, connecting rods), turbine parts (blades and disks), centrifuge components (rotors, rotor blades, etc.) and the like. Intermetallic TiAl base alloys, primarily with contents of 1.5% by weight Cr or Mn and 0.2% by weight Si, are characterized in the thermomechanically processed state by fine-crystalline equiaxial structures (grain size 1 to 5 µm) which are characterized by dynamic recrystallization arise. In this state, the alloy has strengths of up to 750 MPa in the temperature range from 20 to 600 ° C. At 800 ° C, about 400 MPa are still achieved. The fracture toughness of this intermetallic two-phase alloy is relatively high and, at room temperature, has K IC values of at least 28 MPa · m 1.2 . The low densities of 3.68 to 3.8 g / cm³, the high modulus of elasticity of 175 GPa and the high yield stress of 650 MPa are the reason for the high specific stiffness and strength of this heat-resistant material, which is mainly used up to temperatures of 800 ° C without protective layers and up to 1000 ° C and beyond with protective layers in strongly oxidizing atmospheres (hot gas corrosion) can be used. The high m-value (strain rate sensitivity parameter) of a maximum of 0.55 and the wide m-value maximum above the expansion speed characterize the good superplastic formability of this intermetallic two-phase alloy.
erschwerten Umformmechanismen (gehemmte
Versetzungsbewegung/Superversetzungen in definierten
Gleitsystemen) im Temperaturbereich von 20 bis 1000°C
mit Hilfe der konventionellen Formgebungsverfahren, wie
Walzen, Schmieden, Tiefziehen und Streckziehen nicht riß-
oder bruchfrei kalt bzw. warm umformbar. Im
superplastischen Zustand ist das Korngrenzengleiten der
dominierende Umformmechanismus, akkommodiert durch
Diffusionsvorgänge (vornehmlich Ti-Gitter-Diffusion und
z. T. Korngrenzendiffusion in den koexistierenden
Phasen), was eine einschnürungsfreie Dehnung von mehreren
hundert Prozent ermöglicht. Mittels der superplastischen
Formgebung können im Temperaturbereich von 900 bis
1100°C bei relativ hohen Dehngeschwindigkeiten von
maximal 10-1/s Bauteile endabmessungsnah hergestellt
werden. The main advantage of the invention is that the thermomechanically processed fine-grained intermetallic alloys TiAl (Cr, Mn, Nb, Si) with the coexisting Ti₃AI phase components and γ-TiAl in the temperature range from 900 to 1100 ° C are superplastic formable. In the as-cast state with a lamellar structure, these alloys are not cracked or cracked due to the superstructure phase components due to the more difficult forming mechanisms (inhibited dislocation movement / super dislocations in defined sliding systems) in the temperature range from 20 to 1000 ° C using conventional shaping processes such as rolling, forging, deep drawing and stretch drawing break-free cold or hot formable. In the superplastic state, grain boundary sliding is the dominant reshaping mechanism, accommodated by diffusion processes (primarily Ti lattice diffusion and partly grain boundary diffusion in the coexisting phases), which enables a constriction-free stretch of several hundred percent. Thanks to the superplastic shape, components can be manufactured close to their final dimensions in the temperature range from 900 to 1100 ° C at relatively high expansion speeds of up to 10 -1 / s.
