Abstract

The chimney of an existing building is lined with a stainless steel tube to protect the inside surface of its masonry. The stainless steel tube is formed in a number of separate lengths which are inserted end to end into the chimney,. The lengths of tube are inserted by a manually operated winch (3) which is mounted in a frame(2) on top of the chimney (1) and secured to the masonry by bolts (4). The lengths of tube are attached to a steel cable which is unwound from the winch to lower them one after another into the chimney.
