Device for measuring rapid pressure surges in pressure vessels.
In vessels that are completely or partially filled with liquid, vapor or gas,
the pressure of which deviates from atmospheric pressure on the positive or negative side,
it is often necessary to measure rapid pressure surges, be it that they
only made visible, be it that they are automatically recorded, be it
that they should serve to operate alarm or security devices. Exceed
If the pressure surges significantly increase the operating pressure, ordinary pressure gauges are sufficient
not; on the other hand, devices such as are available in the indicators are
mostly too sluggish or too sensitive and too expensive.
According to the invention, the pressure surges are measured electrically,
in that with the inside of the pressure vessel a curved, resilient, closed to the outside
Pipe section is connected, which is on a current-carrying electrical resistance conductor
rolls off and partially switches off or short-circuits the same. At constant
Voltage then changes depending on the circuit, current or voltage in the measuring circuit
and can do extraordinary things with the help of one of those available in electrical engineering
sensitive instruments can be read, recorded or otherwise used.
in zwei Formen dargestellt.
The drawing shows an exemplary embodiment for the invention in two forms. The screw cap a, which is screwed onto the pressure vessel, serves as a support for the measuring device. The thin-walled, resilient, curved metal tube (manometer tube) b is soldered or welded into the same, which is closed at its free end and reacts extremely finely to pressure surges in that it stretches more or less according to the strength of the pressure, for example in the dash-dotted line drawn location. According to Fig. I, the steel tube b lies fully up to a certain internal pressure on the resistance band c attached to the insulating body d, the ends of which are connected to the terminals e, and short-circuits the same as long as that internal pressure is not exceeded. The instrument g in the circuit of the resistor c and the battery f then has its greatest deflection. If the end of the tube b is stretched slightly by increasing the pressure, this part is lifted from the resistance band c, the resistance of the circuit c, f, g increases, and the deflection of the instrument decreases. In order to have a uniform contact pressure, the insulating piece d carrying the resistance band is pressed against the measuring tube b by means of springs h.
According to Fig. A, a wire spiral is an example of the resistance
c chosen. Here the process is reversed, with the resistance in the rest position
is switched on and is switched off when the pressure increases, because then the
Measuring tube b applies to the turns of the resistor. This is where that beats
instrument
So it is most effective when the pressure is arn greatest.
As mentioned, other circuits can be used. That
Measuring instrument can be a counting or recording device, an oscilloscope
or can be replaced by a contactor or a relay.
The field of application for the subject of the invention is large. All over,
where to measure rapid pressure surges in a positive or negative sense
count or are to be recorded, also where the pressure surges trigger other
Apparatus-to be used, the device can be used, for example
on steam boilers, pressure or suction air boilers, vacuum containers, gasometers, on electrical ones
oil switch and transformer vessels; also as an indicator for high-speed steam engines,
Internal combustion engines, fans and pumps, the latter in particular in connection with
an electric oscilloscope.
As a result of the regular relationships between pressure and temperature
the device can also be used for temperature measurements, as a thermostat and the like.
