Abstract

The inside edge of the wheel rim has hooks spaced around the circumference to form attachments for the snowchain. The hooks can be welded or brazed onto the rim edge or can be clipped in place when the tyre is fitted. The chain is made in separate sections, looped over the hooks and with the outside of the wheel having tensioning springs. The selected chain pattern is simply and rapidly secured without any special tools. It is low cost and simple to produce. The chain provides max. grip without any spikes or special tread tyres.
