Dies bietet jedoch einerseits den großen Vorteil, daß die größte Menge des Fetts rein gewonnen wird und hell bleibt, während nur der durch gespannten Wasserdampf nicht ausziehbare Teil durch die Einwirkung des Benzins leidet. Zudem wäre das bekannte Verfahren auch nicht ohne weiteres auf die Verarbeitung ganzer Tierkadaver u. dgl. anwendbar, weil es dadurch nicht gelingen würde, die Haut der Tiere zu zerstören. Sucht man hingegen die Hauptmenge des Fetts durch Einwirkung des gespannten Wasserdampfes zu gewinnen, mit anderen Worten, läßt man diesen so lange einwirken, bis die Hauptmenge des Fetts aus dem Gut ausgezogen ist, so zerfallen bei dieser Behandlung die Kadaver o. dgl. vollständig. Erst dadurch aber gelingt es, bei der darauffolgenden Behandlung mit Benzin oder anderen leicht flüchtigen Extraktionsmitteln die noch in den Knochen eingeschlossenen Fetteilchen vollständig zu gewinnen.
