Zubereitung für die kontrollierte Abgabe einer wirksamen Menge eines biologisch aktiven Materials an die Umgebung und deren VerwendungPreparation for the controlled release of an effective amount of a biologically active material into the environment and their use
The invention relates to a preparation for the controlled Release (release) of an effective amount of a biological active material, in particular a pesticide, to the environment and the use of this preparation.
Much effort and time has been devoted to determining the duration of protection of a biologically active material such as To increase or extend pesticides, which have a relatively short lifespan, while at the same time reducing them the waste left behind by such pesticides,

Systems have been developed that use the concept of "controlled release" to release the pesticide at a controlled rate that is effective in controlling the pests and undesirable contamination Viasserquellen with the resulting damage to the biological environment both in the water and out of the water to a minimum. One method of achieving this controlled release (delivery) is to prepare solid solutions of pesticides in polymers. US Pat. No. 3,076,744 describes a urea-formaldehyde resin in which up to 10 % of an organic insecticide and an edible material which attracts the insects are incorporated. US Pat. No. 3,269,900 describes an intimate mixture of a polyurethane foam and a non-volatile organic pesticide in which the polyurethane foam forms a protective coating around the pesticide which releases the pesticide only gradually. US Pat. No. 3,343,941 describes the physical blending of herbicidally active alkyd resins with other herbicides for slow release by both hydrolysis of the chemically incorporated herbicide and physical release of the admixed herbicide. Canadian patent 846 785 describes the incorporation of a pesticide into a thermoplastic polymer with the desired permeability for the pesticide, in which the pesticide is released (given off) by diffusion of the pesticide through the polymer grid.
Die in der kanadischen PatentschriftThe rate of release (release) and duration of protection obtained using such pesticidal preparations can be achieved, as they are described in the above-mentioned patents, has proven to be technically disadvantageous in many cases proven. The one in the Canadian patent

Pesticide preparations described in 846,785 release the pesticide quickly at first and then too slowly to be effective for the desired purposes. Up to 80 % of the pesticide will remain in the polymer after a reasonable period of time. Thereafter, the pesticide is released (released ^ to be effective) at too slow a rate. The rate of release of the formulations described in Canadian Patent 846,785 is determined by the difference between the pesticide concentration in the soil surrounding the polymer and that in the The pesticide concentration drops sharply over a period of time, which slows down the rate at which the pesticide is priced.
-There has therefore long been the problem of using preparations a controlled release (release) of biologically active material indicating the biologically active material over prolonged periods of time at effective speeds required for the desired control Release (installments). -
The aim of the present invention is therefore to provide a preparation with the help of which it is possible to biologically active To release or dispense materials over long periods of time while avoiding a reduction in them the rate of release of the biologically active material through a mixture of the biologically active material and a polymer that falls below that required for effective control.
According to the invention, this aim is achieved by continuously adding fresh surface fibers to such a preparation from the biologically active material and the polymer are exposed to the environment.

The invention relates to a preparation for. controlled release or delivery of an effective Amount of a biologically active material to the environment, which is characterized in that it consists of or contains an intimate mixture of an organic polymer and a biologically active material together with a carrier material or without such a component containing the biologically active material by molecular Diffusion through the lattice of the polymer on the "exposed" surfaces to the environment Environment releases (releases), the component being incorporated into the polymer in a sufficient amount, so that the diffusion of the component that · the biologically active Contains material, through the exposed surfaces to the loss of the structural integrity of the polymer and / or leads to its disintegration, creating new surfaces of the preparation (the mixture of the biological active material and the polymer) are exposed to the environment with further release of the biologically active material containing component to the environment, whereby the biologically active material over a longer period of time with a speed (Kate) effective for the desired purpose is released or released.
Die erfindungsgemäße Zubereitung mit kontrollierter Abgabegeschwindigkeit unterscheidet sich von den bekannten Zubereitungen im Prinzip "dadurch,, daß sie eine ausreichende Menge des Pestizide allein oder in Mischung mit einem Träger mit einem organischen Polymerisat enthält, so daß die Diffusion des Trägers und/oder des Pestizids durch das Gitter des Polymerisats an den der Umgebung ausgesetzten Oberflächen des Polymerisats zu einem Verlust der Strukturintegrität des Polymerisats und zu einem Zerfallen desselben führt, wodurch kontinuierlich neue Oberflächen der Pestizid/Träger-Polymerisat-The preparation according to the invention with a controlled release rate differs from the known preparations in principle "in that they contain a sufficient amount des pesticides alone or in admixture with a carrier containing an organic polymer, so that the diffusion of the carrier and / or the pesticide through the grid of the polymer on the exposed surfaces of the polymer to a loss of the structural integrity of the Polymerisats and leads to a disintegration of the same, whereby continuously new surfaces of the pesticide / carrier polymer

Combination of the environment with further release (release) of the pesticide. In contrast, the previously known formulations generally used smaller amounts of pesticide which were not sufficiently released into the environment, where up to 80 % of the pesticide remained in the polymer and the pesticide delivery rate was so slow that it was ineffective. An essential "advantage that is achieved by the preparation according to the invention over the known preparations is the practically constant linear release rate over a longer period of time at a release rate that is effective for control purposes.
The preparations with controlled release rate forming the subject of the invention have the following advantages over the known preparations: (1) the release rates effective for the desired purposes extend over a longer period of time, (2) the release of the biologically active material in the preparation by the Surfaces of the preparation that are exposed to the environment lead to breakage and / or disintegration of the polymer on these surfaces with the formation of new surfaces that are exposed to the environment v for the further diffusion of the biologically active material; (3) In the case of pesticides, smaller amounts of pesticides are required for the same period of activity, they are easier to handle, less toxic, the risk of damaging the plants is lower, the toxicity to other organisms such as those in the "biological environment" is reduced as well as reduced costs due to less frequent use and minimal environmental pollution hazards.

Organophosphor-, Carbamat- und Phenoxysäure-Pestizide und insbesondere die folgenden Pestizide:· 2,4~Dichlorphenoxyessigsäure (2,4~D) und 2,J-Dihydro-2,2-dimethyl-7-benzofuranyl~methylcarbamat (Carbofuran).Preferred are pesticides that work through the plant's root system, such as organophosphorus, carbamate and Phenoxy acid pesticides and especially the following pesticides: 2,4 ~ dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4 ~ D) and 2, J-dihydro-2,2-dimethyl-7-benzofuranyl ~ methyl carbamate (Carbofuran).
The polymer and the pesticide or the pesticide and the Carriers are generally physically mixed with one another by heating the solid polymer until it becomes liquid State, and then thoroughly mixing in the desired pesticide or the pesticide and the! Carrier this temperature until an even distribution has been achieved. The choice of a particular polymer with a The particular pesticide is determined by a number of factors. One of the most important is the ability of the pesticide to pass through to diffuse the polymer grid. In general, the pesticide and the polymer must be reciprocal with one another be compatible. The amount of pesticide or pesticide incorporated into the polymer and the In the case of a polymer which is practically non-biodegradable, the carrier must be sufficient to absorb tensions within the Structure of the preparation when the pesticide diffuses from the polymer on the surfaces exposed to the environment to induce, so that the polymer / pesticide or polymer / pesticide / carrier combination loses their structural integrity on these surfaces exposed to the environment,

If the pesticide component is used alone, it must be im. are generally incorporated into the polymer in amounts of more than 50% by weight, so that the pesticide forms the matrix of the preparation, although lower percentages can also be used in the case of kraft lignin because of the low specific cohesion of this polymer. When the pesticide diffuses into the environment on the exposed surfaces of the preparation, the remaining polymer loses its structural integrity and breaks or disintegrates, with new surfaces of the preparation being exposed to the environment for further diffusion thereof. If the pesticide is mixed with a carrier and incorporated into the polymer, the amount of pesticide carrier should generally be greater than 50 % by weight.
The carrier can be a water-soluble monomeric or polymeric material, which with the polymer and is compatible with the pesticide, is non-toxic for the desired purpose and can diffuse through the polymer grid. In which The carrier can also be a polymeric material, that in the environment (environment) in which the preparation is used is to be biodegradable, such as cellulose fibers, urea-formaldehyde polymers and the like. Examples of water-soluble Carriers that can be used according to the invention, are polyethylene glycols with molecular weights within the Range from 600 to 6000, biodegradable monomeric materials such as maleic anhydride, tartaric acid and the like.
Die biologisch abbaubareWhen using a biodegradable polymer, such as Kraft lignin should be the amount of that incorporated into the polymer Pesticide or pesticide carrier at least the same be the amount that effectively combats the pests when released (released). The amount can be within the range of 15 to 50 wt% or higher. The biodegradable

Then 5 g of Garbofuran in 50 ml of dioxane was added and most of the solvent was removed under reduced pressure. The viscous mixture was poured into a Waring blender containing 500 ml of hexane. The mixture was filtered, air dried and pelletized. The pellets contained about 25% by weight carbofuran.
The mixtures were pressed into sheets or cast into cylinders and used in field tests in which they were used in Costa Rica in the ground around young trees (Sweitia macrophylla). It was a block attempt with arbitrary distribution using 15 blocks 16 trees each carried out for a total of 240 trees. Within each block of trees each of three preparations was made applied repeatedly in three amounts each. In 7 blocks, 3 additional preparations were added each in one amount. The preparations and the treatment amounts are as follows specified:

Um als "toxisch" zu gelten, wie in der folgenden Tabelle I angegeben, mußte ein Baum sowohl gegen Feldbefall beständigAfter a treatment period of 2 weeks each, a Block of trees selected in an arbitrary manner containing 20 eggs per tree of the seed drill pest Hypsipyla grandella infected and observed for larval survival and damage. In addition, samples of fresh leaves of the trees are selected and examined biologically in the laboratory with the first appearance of Hypsipyla larvae. To be considered "toxic", as indicated in Table I below, a tree had to be resistant to both field attack

Die Blöcke konnten nur 6 Monate auf die oben angegebene Weise überwacht werden, bevor Dürrebedingungen einsetzten und das Experiment vorzeitig unterbrachen. be with an intact eventual and complete larval mortality and as well as kill the larvae in the laboratory bio-experiment. Trees that grew poorly or died were omitted from the results. As shown in Table I below, about 27 % of the trees at the predetermined location were eliminated because of the poor conditions at that location. The blocks could only be monitored in the above manner for 6 months before drought conditions set in and prematurely interrupted the experiment.
In the table below, the trees marked with zeros are those that were omitted from the results because of poor growth or death. The "control experiment" (an average of 60 untreated trees) showed an "efficiency in%" of 11.9% compared to the most successful test (CJ) with 80%. Trials L1, L2 and L5, in which an average of about 40% of the available carbofuran was released within 6 months, were not too effective in controlling the pest, probably because of the insufficiently active released carbofuran which covered the root system of the trees. In experiments 01 to C3, an average of about 5% of the available carbofuran was released within 6 months. Trial C3 (6 pellets / tree) was relative to the control. (Control) of the pest to about 80 % effective. In experiments C4 · and C5, in which several concentrated carbofuran mixtures were used, an average of about 4-9 % of the available carbofuran was released within 6 months. The low percentage of effectiveness was apparently due to the insufficiently active carbofuran in the soil over one. Area sufficient to cover the tree's root system.
