Bohrer, Finierer, Fräser o. dgl. für zahnärztliche Zwecke.Drills, finishers, milling cutters or the like for dental purposes.
Patentiert im Deutschen Reiche vom 25. März 1911 ab.Patented in the German Empire on March 25, 1911.
The object of the invention is a spherical thickening on drills, finishers or milling cutters for dental purposes. The main characteristic is that this thickening, which is arranged concentrically to the axis of rotation, is at a short distance from the Drill heads located or closely connected to them either in front of or behind him is.
Alle angeführten Übelstände haben ihren Grundίο The previously known drills all suffer from the disadvantage that they can only be guided by the drill handpiece. In the case of a cavity in the tooth located centrally on the chewing surface of a tooth, this problem is less noticeable because the drill is held there by itself through the construction of this cavity during rotation. The so-called root surface drills have small guide pins specially provided for this purpose, so that safe drilling with such drills is guaranteed. However, it is different with lateral cavities, especially if the adjacent tooth is still present. Since it is a special requirement of a well prepared cavity for a filling (seal) that the edges are freed from components that have already become carious by drilling and smoothed by finishing, the fulfillment of these conditions also guarantees a good edge fit of the Filling material and thus for the durability of the filling itself. In the case of closely spaced teeth, these conditions are often very difficult to meet without the neighboring tooth being touched by the rotating drill and thus injured. At these points there is then easily an area of attack for caries later on, which would then be a consequence of the injury caused by the drill. But today it is impossible to direct and hold the drill so precisely that it does not slip during rotation or does not tear itself away. Yes, it happens that such a drill becomes jammed suddenly and then even a larger piece from the auszubohrenden tooth breaks off or breaks, had as you remove the intent. Injuries with subsequent heavy bleeding of the gums are not uncommon. Furthermore, it often happens that such a drill, when it comes to creating points of adhesion and undercuts, which are supposed to hold the filling mechanically in place, slides towards the nerve and then exposes it. Apart from the painfulness, this case is particularly unpleasant insofar as the nerve now has to be killed, which makes the tooth inferior and the treatment more complicated and expensive. In order to prevent injury to the neighboring tooth, one has hitherto sought help by protecting it with a metal strip. The fact that in most cases one tried to get along without this protection does not need to be mentioned, since it made work very difficult. All the abuses mentioned have their cause
Sie werden beseitigt durch vorliegende Erfindung.in not being able to hold the drill where you want to. You will be eliminated by the present invention.
Fig. 5 veranschaulicht die Handhabung eines solchen Bohrers.Several exemplary embodiments are shown in the drawing; it shows Fig. ι a Finisher with the spherical thickening in section, FIGS. 2, 3 and 4 further embodiments, all shown in exaggerated size. Fig. 5 illustrates the handling of such a drill.
A spherical thickening e is provided on a drill bit b (according to FIGS. 1, 2 and 3) between the notch c and the drill head d. This thickening can either consist of plaster of paris, cement, steel or some other suitable material. To achieve greater durability and immovability, the thickening or ball is screwed to the drill using very small screws or pins f. According to Fig. 4, the ball e is arranged on the drill head d. According to FIGS. 2 and 3, the ball can also be made in two parts and screwed tight by means of the screws f .
The use is as follows: The drill b with ball e introduced into the drill handpiece α is intended, for example, to finish a carious tooth, as shown in FIG. 5, for the purpose of inserting a filling. The drill handpiece α is now guided in such a way that the ball e can rest on the adjacent tooth, so that slipping towards the nerve is impossible because the ball β prevents it. It is also easy to understand that injury to the neighboring tooth is impossible. With the correct choice of the drill, depending on the distance between the thickening and the drill head, and depending on the gradation of the ratio of its size to the drill head and on its arrangement in front of or behind the latter, one can work very safely, even in many cases without the eye to aim at. One seeks to find a support point for the thickening e , either on the tooth to be drilled out or on the neighboring tooth. This shortens the lever arm from this point to the part that is actually being drilled, and you can easily fix this part where you want it without great effort. In addition, one has the reassuring feeling that slipping cannot cause harm because the thickening would absorb the shock.
The invention therefore represents a substantial technical advance, and not just that called to be able to treat the patient's teeth more properly and reliably, the So to render the greatest service to the patient himself, but also to the dentist To facilitate work, which on the one hand to his nerves, on the other hand to his technical Skill makes the greatest demands.
