Description
Unter Carriern werden chemische Verbindungen verstanden, die dem Färbebad in feindispergierter oder emulgierter Form zugesetzt oder im Färbebad in feindispergierter Form ausgefällt werden und die das Aufziehen des Farbstoffs auf die Faser begünstigen, wodurch sich eine erbliche Steigerung der Farbstärke der Färbungen oder Drucke erreichen läßtIt is known that the dyeing and printing of synthetic fiber materials such as polyester, cellulose acetate, polyvinyl chloride, polyolefin or other fibers or mixtures of synthetic and natural fibers is associated with difficulties, especially if the dyeing is below 100 ° C deep color tones are to be achieved. It is also known that these difficulties can be reduced in part by using so-called carriers in the dyeing process. Carriers are understood to mean chemical compounds which are added to the dyebath in finely dispersed or emulsified form or which are precipitated in finely dispersed form in the dyebath and which promote the absorption of the dye on the fiber, whereby a hereditary increase in the color strength of the dyeings or prints can be achieved
As such carriers, numerous connections such. B. o- and p-phenylphenol, methylnaphthalenes, diphenyl, halogenated aromatics, aromatic Carboxylic acids and their esters as well as phenol derivatives and alcohols, ketones and amines are known.
B. bei texturiertem Polyestermaterial dann die Fasereigenschaften beeinträchtigtIn practice, however, only a few compounds have become important, for example methylnaphthalene. When using methylnaphthalene as a carrier, however, it is disadvantageous that residues of methylnaphthalene remain on the dyed fiber and cause a deterioration in the lightfastness of the dyeings and prints. The detrimental methylnaphthalene residue retained by the fiber can practically only be removed from the fiber by a special heat treatment, temperatures of at least 150 ° C. and treatment times of at least 3 minutes being required. It goes without saying that the additional heat treatment required increases the cost of the dyeing or printing process due to the energy, equipment and labor required and hinders a rapid workflow. In some cases, the treatment times for the heat treatment can be shortened by increasing the temperature. However, general use cannot be made of this option, since z. B. with textured polyester material then adversely affects the fiber properties werden. In many cases, such as B. in the dyeing of sleeves, are the machine requirements for the No heat treatment required to remove the methylnaphthalene residue.
B. eine hervorragend farbvertiefende Wirkung beim Färben und Bsdrucken von Polyesterfasern, eine gute Emulgierbarkeit gute Egalisierwirkung und Preisgünstigkeit besitztFor the reasons mentioned, the use of methylnaphthalene remained as a carrier for Dyeing of synthetic fibers is limited to only a few areas of work, although methylnaphthalene has otherwise advantageous properties as a carrier, such as e.g. B. an excellent color-intensifying effect when dyeing and printing polyester fibers, a good one Emulsifiability has a good leveling effect and is inexpensive
It has now been found that the deterioration in light fastness caused by methylnaphthalene of dyeings and prints can be reduced considerably without the other advantageous ones Carrier properties of methylnaphthalene are impaired if instead of methylnaphthalene a mixture of methylnaphthalene and diphenylene oxide is used as a carrier.
The invention thus relates to a carrier mixture which consists of a mixture of methylnaphthalene and diphenylene oxide in a weight ratio of 1.2: 1 to 4: 1 exists, as well as a method for dyeing and printing synthetic fibers, in which this Carrier mixture is used during the dyeing process.
Like methylnaphthalene, diphenylene oxide is an easily accessible commercial product.
In the context of the present invention, the term methylnaphthalene is α-methylnaphthalene or the /? - methylnaphthalene or a mixture of these two.
In the carrier mixture according to the invention, the weight ratio is between methylnaphthalene and Diphenylene oxide preferably in the range from 1.5: 1 to 3: 1.
B.The carrier mixture according to the invention can be used in all dyeing and printing methods for dyeing and Printing on synthetic fibers such as polyesters, e.g. B. polyethylene glycol terephthalate, cellulose triacetate, Polyvinyl chloride, polyacrylonitrile, polyolefins, such as. B.
isotaktischem Polypropylen und anderen synthetischen Fasern oder auch Gemischen von natürlichen Fasern und synthetischen Fasern bekannt sind, mit Erfolg eingesetzt werdeaisotactic polypropylene and other synthetic fibers or mixtures of natural fibers and synthetic fibers are known to be used with success
In the context of the present invention, the term fiber is intended to include, for example, staple fiber, but also threads, thread strands, Woven and knitted fabrics, foils, flakes and other dyeable and printable materials made from include polymers mentioned.
All dyes suitable for dyeing the materials mentioned can be used as dyes, in particular Disperse, developing and vat dyes can be used.
The carrier mixture according to the invention can Dye liquor added in dispersed or emulsified form or dissolved in an organic solvent will.
To produce such solutions, high-boiling organic solvents with a boiling point above 100 ° C. are suitable, such as, for. B. tetrahydronaphthalene; Dimethylformamide; Xylene; aromatic and aliphatic halohydrocarbons such as halobenzenes; Esters such as alkyl benzene acid and alkyl polyglycolite. High-boiling petroleum distillates or mineral oils and mixtures of different solvents can also be used.
From the high-boiling petroleum distillates z. B. a water-white, non-toxic and only low-boiling distillate with an aromatic content of approx. 99% by volume and a high flash point, which has a specific weight of 0.877 g / cm 3 and a boiling range of 162 to 180 ° C., has proven particularly suitable.
Von den Alkylpolyglykoläthern finden insbesondere Äthyl-, Propyl-, Butyl- und Pentylpolyglykoläther Verwendung.Of the alkyl polyglycol ethers, in particular Ethyl, propyl, butyl and pentyl polyglycol ethers are used.
The mixture of methylnaphthalene and diphenylene oxide is usually used in so much solvent or Solvent mixture dissolved that the weight ratio between solvent or solvent mixture and the mixture of methylnaphthalene 4: 1 to 0.5: 1, is preferably 2: 1 to 1: 1.
Particularly stable aqueous emulsions of the mixture of methylnaphthalene and diphenylene oxide in Dyebath is obtained when the solution of the mixture of methylnaphthalene and diphenylene oxide in one an emulsifier is added to organic solvents or solvent mixtures. In this preparation is the carrier mixture according to the invention easily in the dyebath even without special equipment: emulsifiable and can even be done immediately without the pre-emulsification with water which is usually required Pour into the dye bath.
The products or mixtures known for carrier-active auxiliaries can be used as emulsifiers find, for example, anionic substances such as alkyl sulfates, e.g. B. Na lauryl sulfate and Na cetyl sulfate. Turkish red oils, sulfonated oils, alkyl sulfonates, alkylaryl sulfates such as alkylbenzene sulfates and alkylnaphthalene sulfates, or non-ionic reaction products of alkylene oxides with alkyl phenols, alcohols, aliphatic saturated or unsaturated carboxylic acids, fatty amines, hydroxyl groups Esters of saturated or unsaturated carboxylic acids.

oder Emulgatorgemisch zugesetztHowever, preference is given to using emulsifier mixtures which are described in German laid-open specifications 16 19 489 and 18 02210. These emulsifier mixtures consist of reaction products of alkylene oxides with esters still containing free hydroxyl groups of saturated or unsaturated aliphatic carboxylic acids or hydroxycarboxylic acids with polyhydric alcohols containing 2 to 6 hydroxyl groups or adducts of alkylene oxides with alkylphenols (component I), alkali metal sulfones and / or alkaline earths Component II) and aliphatic primary or secondary alcohols with 3 to 6 carbon atoms (component HI). Reaction products of alkali salts of alkylbenzenesulfonic acids with oxethylated fatty amines as so-called "neutral salts" are also suitable.
Based on the weight of the solution (methylnaphthalene-diphenylene oxide mixture dissolved in the solvent or solvent mixture), 5 to 20%, preferably 7 to 10%, emulsifier or emulsifier mixture are normally added
The dyeing process is carried out in a manner known per se at elevated temperatures, in particular at boiling temperatures. The dye liquor is added so much of the carrier mixture according to the invention that about 0.2 to 25%, preferably 3 to 15% of the methylnaphthalene-diphenylene oxide mixture, based on the weight of the material to be dyed in the ο dye liquor.
The Carrierge.nisch according to the invention is used for printing dispersed in the printing paste The actual printing process is then carried out in a manner known per se accomplished.
