Als kalziumkarbonathaltige Mineralien werden insbesondere Kalkstein oder Dolomite eingesetzt. Zum Ansäuern mit Mineralsäure wird insbesondere Schwefelsäure verwendet. Dabei setzt sich die im Wasser vorhandene Schwefelsäure mit dem karbonathaltigen Material unter Bildung des entsprechenden Sulfats und freier Kohlensäure um. Die Kohlensäure ihrerseits löst nunmehr in der Folge weiteres karbonathaltiges Material auf und setzt sich mit dem karbonathaltigen Material zu Kalziumhydrogenkarbonat bzw. bei Verwendung von Dolomit auch unter Bildung von Magnesiumhydrogenkarbonat um.In many cases, the options outlined above do not exist how it z.
