Abstract

Soft water hardening process with formation of Ca(HCO3)2 and/or Mg(HCO3)2, to prevent corrosion of water supply network and processing plant, is effected by (i) acidifying the water with an inorganic acid, esp. H2SO4 and then (ii) passing it through a layer of naturally occurring Ca-contg. carbonates e.g. limestone or dolomite. Pref. treated water is in lime-carbonic equilibrium, which may be set up by adding the inorganic acid by means of a pH-controlling instrument.

Description

Verfahren zur Aufhärtung weicher Wässer Die Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren zur Aufhärtung weicher Wässer. Method for hardening soft water The invention relates to a Process for the hardening of soft water.

It is known that soft waters are easily corrosive in character can accept. There is a risk of attack on the pipeline network and the processing plants. In order to prevent this attack, a hardening must be carried out of the water, so that there is a possibility of a lime-rust protection layer in the apparatus parts and in the pipe network.

The hardening has to be done in such a way that the soft water has a certain Amount of calcium ions supplied and at the same time the lime-carbonic acid balance is set. For the purpose of supplying calcium ions, the water can be filled with the necessary Quantities of calcium chloride and sodium hydrogen carbonate are added.

Dabei bildet sich erwünsehtes Kaiziumhydrogenkarbonat nach der Gleichung Carl2 + 2 NaHCO3 = Ca(HCO3)2 + 2 NaC1.Desired calcium hydrogen carbonate is thereby formed according to the equation Carl2 + 2 NaHCO3 = Ca (HCO3) 2 + 2 NaC1.

Dabei entsteht in direkter Reaktion wiederum erwunsches Kalziumhydrogenkarbonat. The chloride ions supplied by the calcium chloride are through the sodium ions of the hydrogen carbonate bound. A second frequently used one Method for hardening soft water consists in the water to be treated to be mixed with lime or hydrated lime and then with a CO2-containing gas to treat. This in turn produces the desired calcium hydrogen carbonate in a direct reaction.

In many cases, the options outlined above do not exist how it z. B. In developing countries this is the case due to the lack of suitable chemicals is. The invention wants to remedy this and provides for this purpose that the water to be treated for the production of calcium hydrogen carbonate and / or magnesium hydrogen carbonate first acidified with mineral acid and then naturally through oinh layer occurring calcium-containing carbonates is conducted. As calcium carbonate Limestone or dolomite in particular are used for minerals. For acidification with mineral acid, sulfuric acid in particular is used. The Sulfuric acid present in the water with the carbonate-containing material under formation of the corresponding sulfate and free carbonic acid. The carbon dioxide for its part As a result, further carbonate-containing material now dissolves and settles with the carbonate material to calcium hydrogen carbonate or when used from dolomite also with the formation of magnesium hydrogen carbonate.

The invention provides for the hardening process to be carried out in such a way that that the treated water is in lime-carbonic acid equilibrium. This is done expediently the supply of mineral acid to the water to be hardened with the help of a regulated by the pH value transmitter.
