Die vorliegende Erfindung betrifft ein neues Verfahren
zur Herstellung von cis-Chrysanthcmummonocarbonsäurcn
oder cis-3,3-Dimcthyl-2-(2'-melhyl-I'-propcnylH-yelopropan-1-carbonsäuren
in raccmischer Form mit der Konfiguration (IR,2S) oder
(I S,2R) oder optisch aktiver Form mil der Konliguralion (I S,2S) oder (I R,2R) aus den entsprechenden
Irans-!3,3- Dimethyl -2-(2'-hydroxy-2'-melhylpropyI)-cyclopropan-1-carbonsäuren
und raccmischc oder optisch aktive lrans-3.3-Dinielhyl-2-(2'-hydrox>2'-methylpropyl)-cyclopropan
-1 -carbonsäurealkylester gjmäß den vorsiehenden Ansprüchen.

in der R einen Alkylrest mit 1 bis 4 Kohlenstoffatomen bedeutet, der Einwirkung eines Alkaliamids,
-hydrids oder -alkoholals in einem organischen Lösungsmittel unterwirft und das erhaltene
Lacton der cis-3,3-Dimethyl-2-(2'-hydroxy-2'-methylpropyl)-cyclopropari-1-carbonsäure
mit einer Lewis-Säure in Anwesenheil einer tertiären Base behandelt.
2. Verfahren nach Anspruch I, dadurch gekennzeichnet,
daß man trans-3,3-Dimethyl-2S-(2'-hydroxy-2'-methyIpropyI)-cyclopropan-l
S-carbonsäuremethylester mit Kalium-tert.-butylat in benzolischem
Medium und das Lacton der erhaltenen eis - 3,3 - Dimethyl - 2 S - (2' - hydroxy - T - methy I-propyl)
- cyclopropan - I R - carbonsäure mit geschmolzenem Magnesiumbromidhexahydrat in
Anwesenheit von Pyridin behandelt.

Im Gegensatz zu dem (im folgendem Schema I dargestellten) crlindungsgcmäßcn Verfahren,
bei dem von einem Irans-Hydroxyl-Dcrivat ausgegangen
wird, bedient sich das bekannte (im folgen-
r> den Schema 2 dargestellte) Verfahren eines cis-Hydroxyl-Derivats
als Ausgangsmatcrial. Dies stellt einen Nachteil dar, da das ciTtndungsgcmüUc Ausgangsmalcrial

anglichen Ausgangsmalerial ausgehen kann und gewünschte Endprodukt in weniger Stufen erhält.

Als klassisches Vcresterungsrcagcns /ur Herstellung der Alkylestcr der trans-3.3-Dimc(ny1-2-(2'-hydroxy-2'-mclhylpropyl)-cvclopropan-1-carbonsäure
III, wie des Methyl-, Äthyl- oder Butylcslers, kann man insbesondere
ein /likano! mit I bis 4 Kohlenstoffatomen, in Anwesenheit einer Säure, wie Schwefelsäure oder
p-Toluolsulfonsäurc. verwenden.
Als Veresterungsmiltcl kann man auch ein dem gesuchten Ester entsprechendes Diazoalkan verwenden,
und man arbeitet in einem organischen Lösungsmittel, ssie Melhylenchlorid. Chloroform oder Dichloräthan.
Es ist auch möglich, ein dem gesuchten Ester entsprechendes
Dialkylsulfat in Ansvesenheit eines basischen Mittels, svie Natriumbicarbonat.zu versvenden.
Andere Methoden sind ebenfalls geeignet, wie diejenigen,
die als Verestcrungsmittel ein Dialkvlkctal von Dimethylformamid [H. B rech bühler u.
Milarb.. Ang.Vhcm.. 75 (19631 196]. welches dem gesuchten
Ester entspricht, verwenden, oder auch Verfahren,
die im Hinblick auf den Methylester Methanol in Anwesenheil des Dimcthslkctals des Acetous
(vgl N. B Lorctte und .Ι.Ή. Brown. .1. Org.
(hem.. 24. 261 11959t) verwenden.
Die beiden folgenden Stufen des crfindung'-gcmäßen
Verfahrens sind besonders charakteristisch.
Es handelt sieh zuerst um die Umsvandiung des ι raus-3.3- Di met h y 1-2-12 -hsdroxs -2-ineth\ I props I)-csclopropan-l-carhonsäurealksleslers

Auch die Umwandlung des cis-Lactorss der Formel
IV in die der Formel IV entsprechende cis-Chrysanthemummonocarbonsäure der Formel I ist
eine charakteristische Stufe des erfindungsgemäßen Verfahrens.
Es ist schwierig, diese Umwandlung durchzuführen. Sie wurde bereits in der racemischen Reihe von
S. H. Harper und R.A.Thompson. J. Sei.
Fnod Agric. Bd. 3. 230 (1952) durch Erhitzen des
cis-Lactons der Formel IV in einer wäßrigen 5%igen Schwefelsäurelösung durchgeführt. Diese Autoren erhielten
jedoch nur eine geringe Ausbeute an unreiner as-Chrvsanthemummonocarbonsäure. da in der wäßrigen
Lösung einer prolonischcn Säure, wie Schsvefelsäure,
ein ungünstiges Gleichgewicht zwischen dem cis-Laclon der Formel IV und der cis-Chrvsanthemummonocarbonsäurc
der Formel I existiert.
Es wurde nun gefunden, daß es aber doch möglich
ist. das cis-Laclon der Formel IV in guter Ausbeule in die cis-Chrysanthernummonocarbonsäure der Formel
I umzuwandeln, svenn man auf das cis-Lacton der Formel IV eine Lewis-Säure in Anwesenheit einer
lerliären Base einwirken läßt, welche die Säure in dem Mal ic. in dem sie sich bildet, bindet.
Der Pro/entsalz der cis-Säurebildung isl daher viel
größer als derjenige, der sich aus dem Gleichgewicht /wischen dem cis-Laclon der Formel IV und der cis-Siiure
der Eormel I ergibt, svclchcs in einer wäßrigen Lösung einer protonischen Säure vorliegt.
Die rcsor/ugtc Lewis-Säure, die /ur Umwandlung

ipropyil-cvciopropan- i -carbonsäure der Formel IV
in die cis-Chrssanthemummonocarbonsäure der Formel i verwendet wird, isl Magnesiumbromidhexahsilrat
in geschmolzenem Zustand.
Die tertiäre Base, die man bei der öffnung des
l.actonringes der Verbindung IV und der Dehvdralaiion.
die zur eis-Chrssanthemummonocarbonsäurc
führt, verssendet, ist Triethylamin. Tripropylainin.
Chinin oder sorzugsweise Pyridin.
Nach dei Reaktion des Magncsiumbromids mit dem L.acton der Formel IV in Anwesenheit einer tertiären
Base liegt die gebildete d-cis-Chrysanthemummonocarboiisäure
/um gröijten Teil in E'orm eines Brom-Magncsium-Komple\es
sor. Durch Einwirkung einer Säure, und insbesondere durch Einwirkung eines
Gemisches einer sväßrigen 5n-C'hlorwasserstoffsäurelösung
und Dioxan 111), wird dieser Komplex unter
Freisetzung der eis-C'hrssanthemummonocarbonsäure /erlegt.
Die rohe so erhaltene cis-Chrssanihemummonocarbcnsäure
wird bequemersseise dadurch gereinigt.
dall man intermediär eines ihrer Salze mit einer oplisch akti'en Base insbesondere mil Chinin oder

Die zu Beginn des erfindungsgemäßen Verfahrens s erwendeten :rans-3J-Dimethvl-2-(2-h\dro\v-2'-met

Form nut eier Konfiguration (IS.2S| oder der
Kontiguratiiin (!R.2F(I können durch Einwirkung
einer wäßrigen ^erdünnten Schssefelsäurelösung auf die entsprechenden trans-Chrssanthemummonocarbonsäuren
in racemischer Form mit der Konfiguration 11 S.2Sl oder der Konfiguration (IR.2R) gemäß der
Methode von S H H a r ρ e r und R.A.Thompson. J. Sei. Food Agric. Bd. 3. 230 (1952) erhalten
werden.
Ein Beispiel für eine derartige Herstellung ist im Falie der Verbindung mit der Konfiguration (1 S,2S)
zur Veranschaulichung im experimentellen Teil weiter unten wiedergegeben.
Die optisch aktiven trans-Chrysanthemummonocarbonsauren der Konfiguration (1S,2S) oder der
Konfiguration (!R.2R) selbst werden durch Einwirkung von Spaltungsreagentien auf die dl-trans-Chrysanthernurnmonocarbonsäure
oder auf ein Gemisch der dl-cis-trans-Chrysanthemurnrnonocarbonsäuren,
das bei den klassischen Syntheseverfahren entsteht, hergestellt.
Das Verfahren der vorliegenden Erfindung erlaubt es. in einer beschränkten Stufenzahl z. B. die I-trans-

ChrysanthemummonocarbonsäureU S,2 S)in died-cis-Chrysanthemumtnonocarbonsäure
(I R,2S) zu überführen, deren 5-Benzyl-3-furylmethylester eine erhöhte
insektizide Wirksamkeit besitzt.
Das nachfolgende Beispiel soll die Erfindung er- ■>
läutern.
Ausgangsmaterial

In 750 ecm einer 5%igen wäßrigen Sehwefelsäurelösung
(d. h.. die 5 g Schwefelsäure pro KH) ecm enthält) trägt man Ig Natriuinlaur\lsiilfai und 15g
l-trans-Chrysanthemummonocarbonsäure oder Irans- r,
3.3-Dimethyl-2 S-(2'-methyl- Γ -propen yl)-cy clopropan-1S-carbonsäure.

Agric. 3. IW 11952) beschrieben], bringt die Rcak >n
lionsmischung zum Rückfluß, hält sie 3'/> Stunden
unter Rückfluß, kühlt ab. extrahiert die wäßrige Ph;ise mit Pctroläther (Sdp.: 35 bis 70 Cl und wäscht die
organische Phase mit einer gesättigten wäßrigen Natriumchloridlösung. Die nicht umgewandelte Aus- >i
iiangs-l-trans-Chrysanlhemummonocarhonsäure löst
sich in der organischen Phase. Durch Einengen dieser organischen Phase bis zur Trockne erhält man 6,55 g
l-traii.s-Chrvsanthemummonocar bonsäure, die wieder
verwendbar ist. in
Die wäßrigen Mutterlaugen, die zum Waschwasser hinzugefügt wurden, werden mit Natriumchlorid gesättigt.
Man extrahiert die wäßrige Phase mit Äth)I-äther. wäscht die Ätherextrakte mit einer gesättigten
wäßrigen Natriumchloridlösung, trocknet sie, engt sie π
zur Trockne ein und erhält 9.3 g trans-3,3-Dimethvl-2S-(2'-hydroxy-2'-mcthylpropyl)-eyclopropan-1
S-carbonsäure, Fp. = 72'bis 73 C. [^]. = +28
Ir = 0.66%. Chloroform).
Diese Verbindung wurde von S. H. Harper und

In 20ecm Methylenchlorid löst man 8,1 g trans-3,3
- Dimethyl - 2S - (2' - hydroxy -T- methylpropyl)-cyclopropan-1
S-carbonsäure, kühlt die erhaltene Lösung auf OC ab, fügt unter Rühren so viel einer
2%igen Lösung von Diazomethan in Methyienchlorid hinzu, daß man nicht mehr Aufwallen beobachtet und
bis man in dem Reaktionsmilieu das Bestehen bleiben einer schwach gelben Färbung festgestellt. Man rührt t>o
bei OC 5 Minuten lang, zerstört das überschüssige Diazomethan, indem man die Reaktionslösung auf
Aluminiumoxyd gießt, beseitigt das Aluminiumoxyd durch Abfiltrieren, engt das Filtrat zur Trockne ein,
reinigt den erhaltenen Rückstand durch Chromatographie
an KJeselgelsäure, wobei man mit einer
Mischung von Benzol und Äthylacetat (9/1) eluiert, und gewinnt 7,65 gtrans-3,3-DimethyI-2S-(2'-hydroxy-2'-methylpropyl)-cyclopropan-l
S-carbonsäuremethylester. [■»]„ = +28,5 (c = 0.77%. Chloroform),

Soweit bekannt, ist diese Verbindung nicht in der Literatur beschrieben.
Der trans-3,3-Dimethyl-2S-(2'-hydroxy-2'-methylpropyl) - cyclopropan - I S - carbonsäure - methylesler
kann noch auf folgende Weise hergestellt werden:
Man löst 5 g trans-3,3-Dimethyl-2S-(2'-hydroxy-2'-methylpropyl)-cyclopropan-1
S-carbonsäure bei 20 1C in 100 ecm Methanol, das I g Schwefelsäure enthält.
Nach 48 Stunden langem Stehen bei 20 C gießt man die Reaktionsmischling in Wasser, das so viel
Ammoniak enthält, daß es zur Neutralisation der vorhandenen Säure genügt. Man extrahiert mit Mc-(hylcnchlorid.
wäscht die Methylenchloridphase mit Wasser und dampft sie im Vakuum zur Trockne ein.
Man erhält 5 g trans-3.3-Dimethyl-2S-(2'-hydrnxy-2'-methylpropyI)-cyclopropan-1
S-carbonsäure-meth\
tester, der mit dem oben beschriebenen Produkt identisch ist.

In einen Kolben, der mit einem S>stcm zum Abtrennen
von Wasser versehen ist. welches mit »Siliporite« (dclmlratisierlc Alkalimclall-Aluminosilikatc.
die Wasser binden können lausgestattet ist. bringt man 25 ecm Benzol. 3.11g trans-3,3-Diinethyl-2S-(2'-hydrow
- 2' - methylpropyl) - c\clopropan - I S - earbonsäure-melhvlesler.
bringt die Mischung zum Rückfluß, hält sie I Stunde lang am Rückfluß, um das Medium
vollständig zu entwässern, trägt unter StickstofT-atmosphärc
1,835 g Kaliuni-lert.-butylat (95%ig) ein,
hält das Kochen unter Rückfluß 30 Minuten lang aufrecht, kühlt ab. gießt die Reaktionsmischung auf
ein Gemisch aus Wasser und Eis, extrahiert die wäßrige Phase mit Äthyläther, wäscht die vereinigten Ätherextrakte
mit Wasser, trocknet sie. engt sie zur Trock ie
ein. reinigt das erhaltene Produkt durch Anteigen in Petroläther (Sdp. = 35 bis 70 C). trocknet und
gewinnt 1.625 g Lacton der cis-3,3-Dimethyl-2S-(2-h)droxy-2'-methylpropyl)-cycIopropan-1
R-carbonsäure. Fp. = 83 C. [\]~ = 4 73.5 (f = 1.2%. Chloroform).
Durch Ansäuern der wäßrigen Mutterlaugen. Exir.iktionen
mit Äther und Verdampfen des Lösungsmittels erhält man 0,465 g trans-3.3-Dimeth.yl-2 S-l2'-hvdrox)
-2'-methylprop>l)-cycIopropan-1 S-earbonsäure.
Das Lacton der cis-3,3-Dimelhyl-2S-(2'-hydro\y-2'-methylpropyl)-cyclopropan-1
R-carbonsäure, das man in Stufe B erhielt, wurde von S. H. Harper und R. A. T h ο m ρ s ο η, J. Sei. Food Agric, Bd. 3,
230 (1952) beschrieben.
Stufe C
cis-3.3-Dimethyl-2S-(2'-methy!-!'-propenyl)-
cyclopropan-1 R-carbonsäure oder
d-cis-Chrysanthemummonoearbonsäure
d-cis-Chrysanthemummonoearbonsäure
Zu 1,1 g geschmolzenem Magnesiumbromid-hexahydrat gibt man 065 ecm Pyridin und 1 g Lacton
dercis-3,3-Dimethy!-2S-(2'-hydroxy-2'-methy|pronylw
cyclopropan-1 R-carbonsäure, bringt die Reaktionsmischung auf 125°C, hält sie 14 Stunden lang bei
dieser Temperatur, kühlt ab, fügt eine Mischung aus einer wäßrigen 2n-Chlorwasserstoffsäurelösung und
Äthyläther hinzu, rührt, isoliert den gebildeten Niederschlag durch Absaugen, wäscht ihn, trocknet ihn und
erhält 0,705 g des Brom-Magnesium-Komplexes der d-cis-Chrysanthemummonocarbonsäure, Fp. = 2(X)
bis 230"C (schmierige Schmelze) (Produkt A).
Man trennt dip Ätherphase durch Dekantieren ab, extrahiert die wäßrigen Mutterlaugen mit Äther,
wäscht die vereinigten Ätherextrakte nacheinander mit einer verdünnten wäßrigen Natriumhydroxydlö'sung,
dann mit einer gesättigten wäßrigen Natriumchloridlösung, trocknet sie, engt sic zur Trockne ein
und erhält 0,183 g Laetnii der cis-3,3-Dimcthyl-2S-(2-hvdroxy-2'-metliylpropyl)-cyclopropan-1
R-carbonsäure, Fp. = 82 C. die man wiederverwciulcn
kann.
Man säuert das alkalische Waschwasser an. extrahiert mit Äthyläther, wäscht die Athercxtrakte mit
Wasser, trocknet sie, engt sie zur I rockne ein und erhält
0.213 g rohe d-eis-Chr\santheniunimonoearbonsäurc
(Produkt B).
Das Produkt A (0.705 g) wird in eine Mischung aus einer wäßrigen Sn-C'hlorwasserstoffsäurelösung und
Dio.xan (l/l) eingetragen, man rührt 15 Minuten lang
bei Raumtemperatur, extrahiert die Reaktionsmischung
mit Äthyläther, wäscht die Ätherextrakte mit Wasser, trocknet sie. engt sie zur Trockne ein und
erhält 0,486 g rohe d-cis-Chrysanthemummonocarbonsäure (Produk' C).
Reinigung durch Bildung des Salzes mit 1-Chinin
Die beiden der rohen d-cis-Chrysanthemummonocarbonsäure entsprechenden Produkte (Produkt B
und Produkt C) werden vereinigt und in 1,2 ecm Äthanol gelöst. Man fügt zur erhaltenen Lösung eine
heiße Lösung von 1,43 g 1-Chinin in 2,4 ecm Äthanol hinzu, verdünnt mit 0,6 ecm Wasser bringt das Gemisch
zum Rückflußsieden, kühlt auf Raumtemperatur ab. läßt auskristallisieren, saugt ab, trocknet, reinigt
das erhaltene Produkt durch zwei aufeinanderfolgende Kristallisationen in Alhenol mit 25% Wasser und erhält
1,31 g des I-C'hininsalzes der d-cis-Chrysanthemummonoearbonsäure.
Fp. = 122 bis 124 C.
Man trägt die 1,31 g des oben erhaltenen I-Chininsalzcs
in eine Mischung aus 15 ecm wäßrige 2n-C!ilorwasserstoffsäurelösung
und 1,5 ecm Äthyläther ein. rührt IO Minuten lang, extrahiert mit Äther, wäscht
die Ätherextrakte mit Wasser, trocknet sie. engt sic zur Trockne ein und erhält 0.445 g d-cis-ChrysantheiiHimmonocarbonsäure,
Fp. = 40 C (wenig deutlich), [χ] = +39,5 (c = 1.2%. Äthanol).
Diese Verbindung ist identisch mit der von I. Ci. M.
Ca m ρ b c I I und S. H. H a r ρ e r,.!.Sei. Food Agric.
3. 189 (1952) beschriebenen Verbindung.
Claims (1)
- Patentansprüche:I, Verfahren zur Herstellung von racemischen oder optisch aktiver cis-Chrysanthemummonocarbonsäuren, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß man eine raoemische oder optisch aktive trans - 3,3 - Dimethyl -2-(T- hydroxy -T- methy I-propyl)-cyclopropan-1-carbonsäure in an sich bekannter Weise in einen Alkylester mit I bis 4 Kohlenstoffatomen im alkoholischen Rest überfuhrt, den erhaltenen racemischen oder optisch aktiven trans-33-Dimethyl-2-(2'-hydroxy-2'-methylpropyl)-cyclopropan-1 -carbonsäurealkylester der Formel
