Description
The invention relates to a pyrotechnic set for generating infrared Radiation.
Heiße Körper, wie z. B. pyrotechnische Flammen, strahlen bevorzugt sichtbares
Hot bodies, such as B. pyrotechnic flames, preferably emit visible light and infrared radiation. The radiation emission from bodies, including pyrotechnic combustion products, is described by the Planck radiation law (Eq. 1). Accordingly, the total energy radiated by a body per unit area is proportional to the absolute temperature of the body. Furthermore, the emission maximum is also a function of the temperature. The functional relationship is described by Wien's displacement law (Eq. 2).
In the military field are used to combat aerial targets such as for example jet aircraft, helicopters and transport machines, Missiles used, which the IR from the target's engine Radiation, mainly in the range between 0.8 and 5 µm, with the help of a Aim and track infrared radiation sensitive search head.
To defend against these missiles are therefore decoys, these are pyrotechnic IR emitters, which use the IR signature of the target imitate.
Strahlers beschreibt. Per Definition beträgt für einen schwarzen Strahler ε = 1.
Alle realen Strahler besitzen stets Werte < 1 und in vielen Fällen < 0,5. Mit
Ausnahme heißer verdichteter Gase, welche ε-Werte < 0,9 besitzen, haben
typische Reaktionsprodukte pyrotechnischer Reaktionen (MgO, KCl, Al2O3,
usw.)
(MTV). Diese Sätze liefern beim Abbrand gemäß Gleichung 3 überwiegend
Magnesiumfluorid und Ruß.
In order to generate radiation in this wavelength range, a flame of at least <1700 K is required so that a sufficient IR radiation density can be generated (I 0.8-5 µm <0.2 kW.sr -1 .s -1 . cm -2 ). However, pyrotechnic flames of this temperature generally only provide very little IR radiation. This deviation from Planck's law is due to the emissivity ε of the burn-up products. Emissivity is a factor that describes the deviation of real radiators from the ideal of Planck's or black radiators. By definition, ε = 1 for a black radiator. All real radiators always have values <1 and in many cases <0.5. With the exception of hot compressed gases, which have ε values <0.9, typical reaction products of pyrotechnic reactions (MgO, KCl, Al 2 O 3 , etc.) have ε values between 0.05-0.2. For this reason, when developing IR active materials, great care was taken early on to create products that have high emissivity. These substances with a high ε value include, for example, soot (ε = 0.85). Conventional active materials for the generation of blackbody radiation in the IR range consist of magnesium / Teflon / Viton mixtures (MTV). When burned up according to equation 3, these sets mainly yield magnesium fluoride and soot.
2Mg + (C2F4)n → 2MgF2 + {C2}n + h.ν (3)2Mg + (C 2 F 4 ) n → 2MgF 2 + {C 2 } n + h.ν (3)
The effectiveness of MTV-containing decoys (flares) against IR Search heads are based on the one hand on the high educational warmth of the Magnesium fluoride and the high emissivity of the soot produced (ε ≈ 0.85), which is almost black body-like due to the thermal excitation Has radiation.
Strahldichte Iλ (siehe Gleichung 4) erhöht werden.
Various attempts have been made to increase the radiance of such MTV flares. For this purpose, classic MTV sets are provided with additives such as titanium, zirconium and / or boron that increase mass throughput [1, 2]. By increasing the mass throughput, m i , the radiance I λ (see equation 4) can be increased.
Iλ = Eλ.mi (4)
I λ = E λ .m i (4)
Eλ = Spezifische Intensität [kJ.g-1.sr-1]
mi = Massendurchsatz [g.s-1.cm-2]
Iλ = Strahldichte [kW.sr-1.cm-2]E λ = specific intensity [kJ.g -1 .sr -1 ]
m i = mass flow [gs -1 .cm -2 ]
I λ = radiance [kW.sr -1 .cm -2 ]
However, these substances weaken the spectral intensity distribution Disadvantage of the blackbody level by selectively emitting Oxidation products are formed.
The object of the invention is to propose a pyrotechnic sentence while maintaining the well-known spectral characteristic of MTV-Schein target has a significantly higher specific performance.
The invention solves this problem according to the characterizing note paint the claim 1. Advantageous developments of the invention are See subclaims.
The increase in performance according to the invention serves to simplify production the ammunition. Now the same can be done with smaller amounts of pyrotechnics Performance can be achieved, which increases the risk of fire and explosion at the Manufacturing reduced. Despite a reduction of the mixing batches by approx. 50% can continue to manufacture the same amount of sham targets with the same performance become.
In addition, the ammunition is due to the reduction in the mass of the Pyrotechnic active cargo lighter, which also has logistical advantages surrender.
Through the invention, the formation of environmental and human toxicologically questionable polyaromatic hydrocarbons (PAK), such as those that occur when MTV flares burn, is prevented.
The invention is based on the idea that when graphite is burned off, the substance with the highest emissivity (ε λ <5 µm = 0.95) can be created, which can be excited to thermal radiation by the heat of the pyrotechnic reaction. Furthermore, according to the invention, the heat of reaction should be increased significantly compared to the established systems. This can be done by using substances with a low molar enthalpy of formation compared to Teflon.
Use different approaches for the pyrotechnic production of graphite either the incomplete burning of aromatic compounds (Anthracene, naphthalene or their derivatives or homologs) or the thermal decomposition of intercalation compounds of graphite (these are Storage connections, in which the spaces between the individual Graphite lattices of foreign atoms or molecules z. B. anions or cations can be occupied). The incomplete combustion of aromatic Hydrocarbons are already used in the manufacture of pyrotechnic Blackbody radiators found [3]. However, in the case of the USP 5834680 only graphite-like pyrolysis products formed, which are superficially by low molecular weight PAHs are contaminated, which is why their emissivity is significant below that of graphite; also the PAK attachments do not deliver underestimating toxicological potential. The thermal decomposition of Intercalation compounds of graphite [4] has so far only been used to generate Dipolaerosols damping electromagnetic radiation are proposed been.
The graphite precursor, i.e. the Aromatic (anthracene or decacyclene) or the intercalation compound of Graphite does not contribute to the heat of reaction, but rather acts as endergonic additive, which lowers the flame temperature (see USP 5834680 column 3 lines 23-25, column 5 lines 18-21).
It has now been found that graphite can be obtained by reducing poly (carbon monofluoride) (PMF) using high-energy halophilic fuels (e.g. beryllium, magnesium, calcium) can be generated. PMF is a tertiary polycyclic alkyl fluoride and already has a quasi-infinite one two-dimensional layer structure. In contrast to those in DE 433 79 071 C1 described and claimed intercalation compounds of graphite At PMF there are real covalent bonds between the carbon and the Fluorine atoms. Therefore, the formation of graphite through reductive elimination of the fluorine atoms compared to the formation from condensed aromatics favored only in terms of entropy. The conversion should continue a previously saturated system into an aromatic system ("graphene") represent a thermodynamic advantage.
According to the invention, kits made of poly (carbon monofluoride) (-CF x -) n with a mass fraction of 10-85% halophilic energetic fuels (beryllium, magnesium, calcium, titanium, zirconium, zirconium / nickel alloy, zirconium / iron alloy, Hafnium, aluminum, boron, magnesium / aluminum alloy) with a mass fraction of 15-90% with a preferably fluorine-containing binder such as Fluorel FC 2175 TM with a mass fraction of 2.5-7.5%, and graphite with a mass fraction of 0.1-5% made.
The preferred fuel is magnesium because it is the cheapest has thermochemical properties (low melting and Enthalpy of vaporization, high melting point of the corresponding fluoride), easy to ignite, cheap and non-toxic (compare beryllium). Sets according to the invention contain magnesium in mass fractions between 30 and 70%, preferably between 40 and 70%.
According to the invention, poly (carbon monofluoride) (-CF x -) n with a molar fluorine fraction x ≈ 1.0 with particle sizes <50 μm is used in mass fractions between 90 and 15%, but preferably in mass fractions between 70 and 30%.
According to the invention, the combustion-supporting fluorine-containing elastomers based on hexafluoropropylene-vinylidene difluoride copolymer, for example Fluorel FC 2175 ™, are used in proportions by mass between 2.5 and 7.5%.
To reduce the electrostatic sensitivity of the sets, graphite powder with a specific resistance <7.10-5 Ω.m -1 is used in a proportion by mass of 0.5 to 5%.
Die Vorteile des Systems Magnesium/PMF/Viton (MPV) werden beim Vergleich mit dem System Magnesium/Polytetrafluorethylen/Viton (MTV) offenbar:The advantages of the Magnesium / PMF / Viton (MPV) system are compared with the system magnesium / polytetrafluoroethylene / Viton (MTV) apparently:
When PMF reacts with magnesium, magnesium fluoride and graphite are formed according to equation 3.
Mg + 2 (-CF-)n → MgF2 + {C}Graphit + h.ν (3)Mg + 2 (-CF-) n → MgF 2 + {C} graphite + h.ν (3)
Due to the lower fluorine content of PMF compared to PTFE, the ideal stoichiometry (see equation 3) is at a magnesium content ξ (Mg) of 0.29, compared to Teflon, where the ideal stoichiometry (see equation 1) is one Share ξ (Mg) of 0.32 is reached. Since the heat of formation of the PMF (-175 kJ.mol -1 ) is almost a fifth as large as that of the Teflon (-854 kJ.mol -1 ), the heat of reaction of the reaction of magnesium with PMF is considerably higher than the heat of reaction for the magnesium / teflon system.
The specific performance (E 2-3 µm and E 3-5 µm ) of the Mg / PMF / Viton sets is correspondingly high. Although the specific performance in the range of ξ (Mg) <45 approaches the values for Mg / PTFE / Viton, Mg / PMF / Viton has drastically higher values for mass throughput compared to Mg / PTFE / Viton sets. The radiance I λ is therefore always 10 times higher for Mg / PMF / Viton sets than for comparable Mg / PTFE / Viton sets.
Sets produced in accordance with the invention therefore supply based on the Magnesium content a 10 times higher radiance than the previous one known Mg / PTFE / Viton sets.
The following example is intended to illustrate the invention without it restrict.
In a suspension consisting of 40 g magnesium, 5 g Viton and 1 g Graphite powder and 200 ml acetone are stirred in 55 g PMF. The suspension is stirred in the air stream until a crumbly mass is reached. The solvent-moist granules are passed through a sieve (2.5 mm mesh size) and dried at 40 ° C in an air stream for 5 h. The granulate is at a holding time of 6 s with 12 tons of pressing pressure to form cylindrical pellets weighing 40 g in caliber 25 mm processed.
