Abstract

Wood or some other suitable biological material is ground in a screw press with addition of fire retarding substances. In the grinding process these substance are worked into the resulting fibers in such a way that they are no longer mechanically separable.

Description

The use of bio-based fiber is very versatile. Be it for the production of insulating mats or for thermal insulation by filling in Cavities, especially in house construction, or in pressed form as plates in the Construction and furniture industry. For use as a building material, the mineral, which is not harmless due to health reasons wool replaced by biological substances, since their production usually a lot is less energy-intensive and almost always renewable as a base material Raw materials can be used. Everyone exists against minerals dings the disadvantage that biological fibers are easily flammable, so that For fire safety reasons, precautions must be taken to ensure that To give material certain fire retardant properties. Imprints are common with salt solutions or other substances that decompose when heated and give off non-flammable gases that suffocate the flames. The defibration the raw material is usually a wet process. The impregnation must also be wet take place so that the impregnation substances can penetrate into the fibers. The then drying is very energy-intensive.

There are procedures such. B. known from DE 44 44 745 or DE 38 07 017 C2, after which wood and other biological materials by means of screw presses be frayed by friction under high pressure. Because these fibers are the Leaving the press with low humidity is the key in this process  Energy consumption less than with the still usual wet processes. For the Use of the fibers as an insulating or building material would have to be obtained required fire retardancy but still a wet impregnation with the for the drying required energy expenditure.

According to the invention, the above-mentioned method of defibration is Screw press used to fire retardant substances on dry Introduce paths into the fiber material already during the defibration. Extensive tests have confirmed that fire retardant, mineral Substances with the material to be shredded into the screw press due to the intense friction and the high pressure Structure of the fibers are incorporated that a subsequent separation mechanical way is no longer possible. This way too Introduce non-soluble, fire-retardant substances permanently into the fibers. Impregnation processes are logically limited to soluble substances. Through the invention, the range of fire retardants that can be used Additions are significantly expanded. Try with CaCO (from rubble) as Additions have shown that a board made of pressed wood fibers is very heavy was ignitable or had a high fire resistance. She behaved self-extinguishing. The essence of the invention for producing fire retardant, biological fiber compared to previous methods is the far lower Energy expenditure and the possibility of insoluble, fire-retardant substances bring in.
