Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a method for producing air bags as a fabric that is in an area of one or more inflatable chambers at least two layers and into the chambers surrounding edge areas is woven in one layer.
A method of the type mentioned at the outset is known (EP 0 458 838 B1) to produce airbags with a circular basic shape ask, d. H. with a circular, single-layer woven Edge area. In the known method are used as warp threads and weft threads, for example threads of 940 dtex with a Woven density of 15.4 / cm. This leads to relatively coarse Ge weave, which is also relatively stiff and ent so difficult to fold or fold like that, that they can be accommodated in a small space. After the known method is therefore only relatively small Airbags with a round base made in the area in front of the driver or a passenger in the vehicle become.
The aim today is to reduce the occupants of cars, buses, trains or aircraft or the like not only in the front area by means of to protect an airbag, but also in the side area chen. For example, it makes sense to use the longitudinal spars of vehicle roofs to be equipped with airbags that protect the vehicle Protect passengers in this direction.
The invention has for its object a method of continue to develop in such a way that Airbags with any contour or shape can be produced.
This object is achieved in that the contour of the we end airbags in such a way to the longitudinal direction of the warp threads is directed that all single-layer edge areas under one Angle to the warp threads.
In this way, airbags can be of almost any shape produce, the longitudinal extension of which is essentially only the weaving width of the loom is limited. The invention is based on the knowledge that it is possible in this way is the warp thread tension not in the edge areas single-layer woven warp threads without special measures so far maintain that the weaving process is not disturbed.
In an advantageous embodiment of the invention, that the contour of the airbag to be woven is aligned that the extension of the edge areas in the direction of the warp which is not larger than 5 cm. If this value is clear can not be exceeded in the marginal areas interwoven warp threads relax so far that disturbances of the web process are to be feared. This maximum ext of course also applies to single-layer web sites, for example between chambers made of two-layer fabric are arranged to separate these chambers or to the Kon ture of these chambers.
In a further embodiment of the invention it is provided that in marginal areas, which are essentially in the weft direction extend, the number of weft threads is reduced. This is without further possible, since these edge areas anyway stronger than the individual fabrics were in the double layer area and also not so high in the same way are spoken. This allows the weight of the airbag to be reduced decorate and save material.
It is provided in a particularly advantageous manner that little least the warp threads in the double-layer area as parallel mutually extending pairs are woven. This measure, which is also advantageous for airbags with a circular base is, allows to reduce the tissue thickness in which reduces the yarn count of the warp threads accordingly becomes. This results in a lower tissue thickness that it allows the airbag to collapse to a smaller volume The warp also provides better area coverage threads, which reduces air permeability and a better basis for a possible coating with Plastic offers.
In a particularly advantageous manner it is provided that pick up two warp threads next to each other strands on a common board of a jacquard Machine are attached and ge when forming shed can be raised or lowered together. This ensures represents that the warp threads run separately in the strands always lie parallel and do not deviate from each other towards or twist. By doubling the harness schirrs, it is possible to produce a maximum repeat size len, which is larger than the repeat size of the largest today Jacquard machine on the market. For example it is possible to pair 12,800 warp threads with 6,400 sinkers to head for while the largest jacquard Machine has 12,400 boards and with simple har Only control tableware accordingly with 12,400 warp threads can.
It is particularly advantageous if invented after another derische training is provided that the tissue of the Airbags woven into one or more tubular gas ducts become. These gas channels, which are in the uniform Weaving can be used to make the Feed gas from a gas generator to the airbag.
In a further embodiment of this invention, that the gas guides for forming gas distribution lines vice versa slipped over and inserted into the chamber. This woven Gas ducts then form gas distributions within the chamber conditions that selectively supply the gas to the interior of the chamber. There through can on tubular or similarly designed Gasver sub-channels are dispensed with, which the packing of the Air bags can hinder. These upside down and inserted Gas distribution lines are in one piece with the airbag provides so that on seams or other joints can be dispensed with. In addition, they transform in the overturned area a very firm connection to which a gas generator can be attached safely.
In a further embodiment of this invention, that the gas ducts with an art before turning inside out be coated with fabric. This coating is on then after turning inside out on the gas distributor lines, so that on the one hand the flow conditions due to the plastic coating can be improved while others on the other hand also in this area, when the gas is triggered nerators is most heavily loaded, higher strength is obtained. This higher strength is also why partial, because contaminants leak from the gas generator that can otherwise strain the fabric of the airbag ten.
In a further embodiment of the invention it is provided that the gas guides are woven with wefts that are a height re mechanical and / or thermal strength than the shot have threads of the rest of the fabric. This is also the reason possible the higher mechanical and especially thermal Loads immediately after the gas emerges from the Gas generator in the area of gas routing and gas distribution to take into account.
In a further embodiment it is provided that in the area the chamber has one or more single-layer fixation points be weaving, the one in the area of the two-layer fabric Form a receptacle for fixing the gas distribution line. Thereby it is ensured that the gas distribution line is in a defined position and this defined position during the packing of the airbag and during the Not leaves when not in use. The airbag is therefore always in a defined manner when the gas generator is triggered inflated.
Further features and advantages of the invention result from the following description of Darge in the drawings presented embodiments.

The airbag 10 shown in FIG. 1 has a elongated shape and is intended, for example, for arrangement in a passenger car in the region of the lateral longitudinal edge of the roof. The airbag 10 is manufactured in a uniform weaving process on a weaving machine, in particular a rapier weaving machine, which is equipped with a jacquard machine. The airbag 10 is woven in such a way that, in its central region, which forms an inflatable chamber, it consists of two fabric layers which merge into a peripheral, single-layer woven edge region 11 . The airbag 10 is configured in the weaving machine in such a way that the peripheral edge region 11 in the warp direction K has only a relatively short length, which is not more than 5 cm and preferably not more than 3 cm.
The extending in the longitudinal direction of the airbag 10 edge regions 11 a, 11 b are aligned in the weft direction 5 , so that they run perpendicular to the warp direction K, that is, under a win angle of 90 °. The respective ends of the airbag 10 be bordering edge areas 11 c, 11 d extend obliquely to the weft direction S and obliquely to the warp direction K, so that the loading condition can be met that the longitudinal extent of the edge regions 11 c, 11 d in warp direction K is limited to 5cm and less.
The air bag 10 is left open, for example in the left edge portion 11 d to form a terminal 12 by two layers of fabric are also woven in this area. In the area of this connection, a gas generator can therefore be arranged.
The airbag 10 can be divided in a manner not shown in the area of the inflatable chamber, in which two fabric layers are present, by means of webs into individual chambers. If such webs are desired, then a single-layer fabric is woven in their area. These webs are then also aligned with the warp direction K at an angle such that the extension of these webs in the warp direction K does not exceed 5 cm. The webs can therefore be designed as obliquely aligned to the warp direction K straight lines or as arches.
If edge areas, as in the embodiment, the edge areas 11 a, 11 b, extend in the weft direction S, it can be provided before that the number of shots is reduced in these edge areas.
The embodiment of FIGS. 1 and 2 has a further special feature, which is that egg ne tubular gas line 13 is woven to the airbag 10 . This hose-like gas line 13 is created in that a einla gig woven, circumferential edge region 14 surround two layers of fabric ben. This gas line 13 is formed in the weaving machine in such a way that the edge regions 14 running in its longitudinal direction are directed in the weft direction S. As can be seen from Fig. 1, the edge region 14 is interrupted at predetermined locations, ie at these points the Ge is woven in two layers. This will create blowouts 15 ge.
The gas line 13 can be woven as a separate element and, like the airbag, can be cut out of the overall structure. Thereafter, the gas line 13 can be inserted into the airbag 10 from the connection 12 in such a way that its blowout openings 15 point in the direction of the inflatable chamber. To ensure that the gas line 13 , which then serves as a gas distribution line, is arranged in a defined position in the airbag 10 and remains in this position, several fixing points 16 are provided in the airbag. To form this fixing 16 , the fabric is woven in a ply in this area.
The gas line 13 is mechanically and also thermally most strongly burdened by the gas emerging from a gas generator and also claimed by impurities, which also emerge from the gas generator at high speed. In order to take this into account, the gas line 13 can be woven with weft threads, which consist of a material with higher mechanical strength and / or thermal strength. In addition, it is possible to coat the hose-like gas line 13 with plastic. This coating can be applied outside, after which the gas line is turned inside out, so that the coating is then in NEN and the gas exiting the gas generator is acted upon directly.
It is preferably provided, as is shown in FIGS . 1 and 2, that the gas line 13 is woven in one piece with the airbag 10 and also remains in one piece with it. The Gaslei device 13 is, as shown in Fig. 2, inserted in the area of the connector 12 in the airbag and thereby inverted. This can be done, for example, by means of a rod 12 that can be inserted into the circuit. In the area of the circuit 12 is then twice the material thickness, so that a gas generator can be securely attached. In this case too, the gas line 13 , which is inserted into the airbag 10 as a gas distribution line, can be coated on the outside with plastic before being turned inside out.
In a modified embodiment, not shown, in the area of the outlet openings 15 to the gas line 13 blow-out nozzles are woven, which are also woven ge like a hose.
As shown in Fig. 3, warp threads 17 are preferably interwoven in pairs, care being taken that the warp threads 17 of the warp thread pairs each run parallel to one another and do not overlap or devour one another. How this is achieved will be explained later with reference to FIG. 5. Because of the pairing of warp threads 17 , warp threads 17 can be used which have approximately half the fineness of the woven weft threads 18 . For example, warp threads 17 of 235 dtex, which consist for example of polyamide 6.6 or polyamide 6.4, can be interwoven with weft threads 18 of 470 dtex, which likewise consist of polyamide 6.6 or 6.4. This allows a reduced fabric thickness D to be aimed at a fabric with the same fineness for weft and warp yarns, so that the folding of the airbag is facilitated and the required packing volume is reduced. As can be seen from FIG. 3, a grosgrain weave is preferably produced in the region of the two fabric layers.
By choosing a different binding in certain It is above the ten areas of the two-layer woven fabric also possible to be the gas permeability of the fabric layers influence and especially in certain areas to generate high gas permeability.
With the help of the invention, it is possible to produce almost any ge-shaped airbags, the longitudinal extent of which is limited only by the weaving width of a weaving machine. In Fig. 4, for example, the weaving width W of a weaving machine is represented by two dashed lines. For example, a uniform airbag 19 is produced on this weaving machine, which is equipped with a jacquard machine, which is arranged, for example, in the area of a roof of a passenger car. This airbag 19 has 4 chambers 20 , 21 , 22 , 23 , which are arranged in the region of a front window, the side windows and the rear window of a passenger car. Between these, in the inflated state, an elongated bead form the chambers 20 to 23 are each in the Grundflä surface essentially triangular chambers 24 , 25 , 26 , 27 , which cover the headlining of the vehicle and which surround a central chamber 28 . In this central chamber, a gas generator can be arranged, which is connected to the respective chambers 20 to 27 via distribution channels that are woven together. This airbag 19 is also manufactured as a fabric in one operation, in which the chambers and the marginal areas delimiting the distribution channels are woven as a single-layer fabric, while in the area of the chambers and the distribution channels, two fabrics are woven each time. The single-ply edge areas that delimit the chambers on the outside and in relation to other chambers are aligned with the warp direction K in such a way that they have an extension in the warp direction that preferably does not exceed 5 cm. As a result, the entire weaving process can be carried out continuously without the risk that warp threads lose their tension in certain areas and thereby disrupt the weaving process.
As has already been mentioned with reference to FIG. 3, the immediately adjacent warp threads 17 are controlled in pairs by means of the jacquard machine, whereby it is ensured that the warp threads 17 controlled in pairs are actually woven in parallel to one another. In order to achieve this without increasing the number of boards on a Jacguard machine, a double harness is provided. As indicated schematically in FIG. 5, two harness cords 34 are hinged to each plate 30 , 31 , 31 , each of which is provided with strand eyes 35 , which each guide a single warp thread 17 . A spring 36 is assigned to each of these harness cords. In this way, each pair of adjacent warp threads 17 are controlled in parallel with one another with certainty, although in comparison to the controllable warp thread number only half the number of sinkers 31 , 32 , 33 is required. With appropriate compression of the number of harness threads per cm in the chorus board 38 , which is preferably greater than 56 threads / cm, it is possible to reduce the yarn fineness of the warp threads, in particular compared to the previously customary fabric setting, in the warp threads and weft threads with the same precision were used. By reducing the warp thread fineness to half, better surface coverage can be achieved, through which the gas permeability of the fabric can be reduced and which also offers a better basis for a possible coating.
